Stampin’ Up! Punch Kite Tutorial and Two More Kite Cards!

Stampin’ Up! Punch Kite Tutorial and Two More Kite Cards!

Hey there! Yesterday was a CRAZY day! My son just bought his first home; he closed on Thursday! We are so happy for him AND it is next door to Alisa & Cody, so they are over the moon excited too! Since Troy and Cody had yesterday off for Good Friday they decided to try to get AS MUCH DONE AS POSSIBLE this weekend so he can get moved in soon!

I'm helping with the cleaning, painting, and renovations (I'm a consultant for the renovations, but an ACTIVE participant in the cleaning and painting!), so my whole day yesterday was spent at Troy's. I tried to get on here to post my kite tutorial before I left yesterday morning, but something was wrong with Typepad and I couldn't even get in to my blog, so I had to give up and move on.

I'm headed to Troy's again today, but I have a few minutes here to show you how I made the kite from my Stampers Dozen Blog Hop post on Tuesday HERE, and I have two more kite cards to share!

I started by punching a triangle with the Triagle Punch from Whisper White. This triangle is just my base I am going to use to attach the visible kite pieces to:

Kite 1

I adhered a Basic Black triangle over the base trangle, leaving just a bit of the widest part of the triangle visible:

Kite 2

I adhered the straight-sided Petite Pennant punched piece to the remaining strip of the base Triangle. I snipped off the tips of the base triangle that stick out on the edges.

Kite 3I cut really thin strips of cardstock for the "struts" of the kite. I adhered them on the kite, then trimmed the ends with my Paper Snips. (sorry for changing kite colors, but apparently as I made three different kites I didn't remember to take pics of every step with the same one! lol! Sometimes I get so caught up in the creative process I forget!)

Kite 5

Here's another card featuring the kite and the Word Bubble clouds I created an embossing plate for. I showed you how I made my plate HERE.

Stampin_up_express_yourself_1 - Copy

Inside I simply stamped a phrase from Really Good Greetings:

Stampin_up_really_good_greetings_1 - Copy

My final kite card I used the Fresh Prints Designer Paper Stack for the kite. I punched the frosting from the Cupcake Builder punch from Whisper White scraps, then sponged Whisper White Craft ink through the negative space for my clouds:

Stampin_up_fresh_prints_1 - Copy

Inside I stamped phrases from Remembering Your Birthday:

That's all for now! Tomorrow is Sunday Swap Day, so I'll be back then with some fun swaps to share!

Oh, in case you haven't heard, Monday, April 21st Stampin' Up! will be releasing the Retiring Stamps and Accessories Lists! This year BOTH lists will be while-supplies-last, so get your order in quick!

AND >>>>>>>> April 21st through 25th ONLY!

My project today follows the ConGraduation, Congratualations theme with the Pure Gumption stamp set from page 52 of the Annual Catalog:

Stampin_up_pure_gumption_1 - Copy

I created the kite by punching one straight pennant from the Petite Pennants Builder Punch and one triangle from the triangle punch from Silver Glimmer Paper. I added narrow strips of Basic Black cardstock for the struts of the kite, White Baker's Twine for the kite string, and tiny Silver Glimmer hearts punched with the Owl Builder Punch.

Stampin_up_pure_gumption_2 - Copy

I used my custom-made cloud embossing plate for the clouds. You can see how to make your own cloud plate HERE. I sponged my clouds with Soft Sky ink.

The greeting is from Pure Gumption, stamped in Jet Black StazOn ink and cut out with a Word Bubbles Framelit.

Stampin_up_pure_gumption_3 - Copy

Inside is stamped very straighforward with more stamps from the same set. Pure Gumption is a one-stop stamp set for graduation/congratulations!

Stampin’ Up! Backyard Basics Butterfly Flower Card!

Stampin’ Up! Backyard Basics Butterfly Flower Card!

Hey there! It's a rainy, dreary day here, so I decided to share my bright and happy Backyard Basics Butterfly flower card with you today:

Stampin_up_backyard_basics_1 - Copy

I think this card would brighten up just about any day!

I used the "faux silk" technique on the butterfly again, just like I did on my previous Backyard Basics card HERE. I used Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango Stampin' Write markers on my stamp before stamping on my tissue paper, then covered my scrap of Whisper White cardstock completely with an Anywhere Glue Stick. After crumpling and re-opening the stamped tissue, I gently smoothed it over the glue, leaving a few creases and bumps to help give it that "slubbed silk" look. (Kimberly's wedding dress was slubbed sik, so I know what that is supposed to look like!) I perfectly "cut" the butterfly with the coordinating Backyard Basics Framelit.

I cut the Daffodil Delight card base and the Tangerine Tango layer with Floral Frames Framelits, then embossed them with the Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Folder.

A phrase from Petite Pairs, punched with the Word Window and bracketed with a couple of Brights Candy Dots invite you to open this card:

Stampin_up_backyard_basics_2 - Copy

Inside I repeated the layer shape, this time with Whisper White, stamping the coordinating phrase from Petite Pairs and a couple more butterflies!

I finished my ensemble by stamping another butterfly on my Whisper White envelope and lining it with a bit of Daffodil Delight Designer Paper cut with one of the Envelope Liner Framelits.

That's all for now, but tomorrow is the 15th, so be sure to come back to take the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop! Our group's theme is "Congratualtions!", so be ready to be WOW'd with some great ideas!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Here's the supply list for today's project. You can purchase what you need from my Online Store or click on any image below and you will be taken directly there!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day for the Babies!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day for the Babies!

Hey there! It's Sunday again, which means it's the day I share more of my swaps! yay!

Today I have three adorable baby cards for you! Let's get started!

Stampin_up_label_love_1

First up is a card that has no name on it, but it sure is cute! The creator cut her "bib" with the Ovals Collection Framelits from Whisper White cardstock and Blushing Bride Patterns Designer Paper.

Stampin_up_label_love_2

A close up shows the detail of the punched greeting from Label Love using the Artisan Label Punch, 7/8" Scallop Circle Punch, and the banner cut with one of the Butty Banner Framelits.

A side view shows this is a completely bib-shaped card:

Stampin_up_label_love_3

Our next creation is by Kathy Johnson. Kathy used the Circle Framelits to create her "teddy bear"!

Stampin_up_teeny_tiny_wishes_1

Up close you can see that she used the Fringe Scissors to cut this girly teddy's eyelashes:

Stampin_up_teeny_tiny_wishes_2

Another fully-shaped card using lots of scallop circle and circle punches, small heart punch, Crumb Cake 1/2" Seam Binding, Word Window Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch, Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Silver Baker's Twine, and a Pearl Basic Jewel.

Stampin_up_teeny_tiny_wishes_3

Finally, Tamie Ackerson created an adorable "onesie" card from a template you can find online. She embossed the Whisper White with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder, and edged it with Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffled Stretch Trim. She chose to stamp the lion from Zoo Babies with Strawberry Slush for her circle-punched medallion.

Stampin_up_zoo_babies_1

Inside she simply stamped a phrase from Cuddles & Kisses!

Stampin_up_zoo_babies_2

Babies DO make your heart happy, don't they?

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! My Friend!

Stampin’ Up! My Friend!

Hey there! Busy day yesterday! I finalized intineraries for the Stampin' Up! cruise in May, Stampin' Up! Inspire, Create, Share 2014 in mid-July, and a family vacation, also in July, then took care of Jessica's kiddos while she & her hubby went on spur-of-the-moment date!

Here's the card I have for you today:

Stampin_up_my_friend_1 - Copy

A Midnight Muse card base, layered with Whisper White, then a layer of Midnight Muse Core'dinations embossed with the Beautifully Barouque Textured Impressions Folder and lightly sanded with the Stampin' Sanding Block for more design definition.

Stampin_up_my_friend_2 - Copy

I inked the foliage stamp from My Friend first with Coastal Cabana, then sponged MIdnight Muse over the leaves, gradually sponging less as I reached the outer ends. After spritzing with water, I stamped on Whisper White. I stamped "Celebrate Today" from  Perfectly Penned with Midnight Muse, adhered to a layer of Coastal Cabana, then adhered to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

For more dimension I added Crstal Effects to the outermost leaves, keeping the card flat for several minutes to allow it to dry. My final touch was a Midnight Muse In Color Dahlia.

Stampin_up_my_friend_3 - Copy
Inside is a RIOT of dimension! Three Whisper White lattices cut with the Lattice Die,  one attached to each side. The third is scored in the middle so the card will close. Leaves were cut with the Secret Garden Die, and flowers and butterflies were punched from Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper. Pearls and a phrase from Really Good Greetings are the finishing touch.

That's about it for now! Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! Backyard Basics Faux Silk!

Stampin’Up! Backyard Basics Faux Silk!

Hey there! I had a fun day today! One of my downline, Joyce, has started a second direct-selling business, Origami Owl, and she had her Open House to get started today. Fortunately  I had time to go, so I did! I had heard about Orgami Owl for awhile, but had never actually been to a party, so I was naturally curious. Pretty stuff!

I hope you will consider the card I have for you to be "pretty stuff":

Stampin_up_backyard_basics_1 - Copy

What do you think? I think it is "pretty stuff"! I stamped the iris from Backyard Basics on tissue paper, crumpled the paper into a ball, gently but not completely smoothed it back out, then adhered the tisuue to a layer of Whisper White cardstock with  a Stampin' Up! Glue Stick. I wrapped the tissue around to the back side of the cardstock and adhered with more Glue Stick.

Stampin_up_backyard_basics_1 - Copy - Copy

The result (although I must apologize for the blurry picture!) is a slightly creased and rumpled look, reminiscent of silk! I added strips of Rhinestones again. It's amazing how I have hoarded these for a long time, and now suddenly I've used them on two cards in a row! I added one single rhinestone to the center of the Vintage Faceted Button too!

Stampin_up_backyard_basics_2 - Copy

Inside I stamped the butterfly from the same set directly on the Whisper White layer, stamping off on scrap paper beforehand so it would have a lighter look. I did a "faux silk" butterfly by stamping on the tissue, crumpling, unfolding, glueing to cardstock, then cutting it out with the butterfly Backyard Basics framelit!

That's all for now. The supply list for today's creation is shown below. Clicking on any image will take you to my Online Store where you can shop and order!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
