Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Hey there! After thinking of all the swaps I haven't shared yet, I'm having another swap day! My last day of babysitting was last week, so today I feel like I'm officially on vacation! My teacher-daughter's last day of school is today, so her nurse-hubby is in charge of Liam and Darcy today. Don't mistake me, though, I LOVE those little people that call me "Mamie". I'm committed to loving them, teaching and training them for as long as they need me. While I'm excited to have a couple of months to relax, work on some home projects, and STAMP,  I also look forward to the middle of August when I will be back to taking care of them again!

All of these cards either are or have been on my display board in the past few weeks and most of them were created with some supplies that are on the Retiring List. (hint: you only have 9 more days until the Retiring List expires)

First Carol Slack used Layering Circles and Ovals Framelits, Stitched Shapes framelits, and  Retiring Basket Bunch stamps and Basket Builder Framelits dies. The "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment is from the also-retiring Oh So Succulent stamp set.

Next, a swap by Susie Wood using the retiring Festive Birthday Designer Series Paper with the not retiring Window Shopping stamps and Window Box Thinlets.

I'm not sure who created this cute Nemo-inspired card, but my Marion monthly stamp group loved it! We used retiring  Festive Flower and Elegant Butterfly punches to create "Nemo".

Jenna Roby used the retiring Woodgrain folder to create the background for these adorable Fox Builder Punch created raccoons! Birthday Banners provides the bannered-greeting!

An anonymous creator used the soon-retiring Owl Builder Punch to create this congratulatory owl!

Finally,  Ruth Anne Lilley used circle punches, Sweet & Sassy Framelits, and retiring Sending Love Designer Series Paper for her Minnie Mouse!

Stampin’ Up! Dave and Laura, An Owl Anniversary!

Stampin’ Up! Dave and Laura, An Owl Anniversary!

Hey there! Today I have a card for you AND a story!

Once upon a time there was a guy named Dave on a ship bound for Dubai. On the 6th of March would be his 5th wedding anniversary with his wife, Laura. Laura was at home in Chicago, IL. Dave wanted to surprise Laura and make their day special.

What was Dave to do?

Like all other MEN in today's world, Dave went to Pinterest!

On Pinterest Dave found OWL cards, LOTS of cards made with owls. Even owls made with the Owl Builder Punch from Stampin' Up!

What did Dave do?

Dave found THIS card:

Owl anniversary

Dave followed the link on Pinterest until he found my blog. On my blog he found my email contact information.

Dave's email:

Hi,

I saw one of your cards online today, the "Owl Anniversary" card, and I was wondering if it is for sale. My 5th wedding anniversary is coming up and my wife loves owls. Also the colors match our weddings colors.
Thanks,
Dave

I responded to Dave's email and then he responded:

"I live in Chicago and our anniversary is March 6th. Is it possible that you could write a short message in the card for me? Something simple along the lines of "Happy 5th Anniversary, Love Dave." I work on a ship and I am currently on my way to Dubai so I can't actually sign a card but I know she would love this. I saw from the picture on your blog there was an envelope with a green leaf on it as well. Could you write, "Laura" on the front of that envelope then mail that inside a USPS, UPS, etc envelope?"

How could I ever turn this sweet hubby down? I re-created the card using current and some retired Stampin' Up! products, then mailed the card to Laura in time for it to arrive for their anniversary:

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_1

I mailed it inside a manila envelope inside a Priority mailer so it would be more of a surprise (and so the leaf decorating the outside of the envelope would not get caught in the machines at the P.O.)

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_2

Instead of "Happy Anniversary" I used "happy together" from A Dozen Thoughts since it was an card from a husband to his wife.

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_3

I checked in with Dave after the date had passed, and he reported Laura received the card on time and loved it! yay!

So there's the story. I felt so honored that of all the cards on Pinterest, Dave chose my card to commission to be sent to his wife.

Pretty amazing, isn't it?

I also want to thank Dave for giving me permission to tell his story here and for allowing me the opportunity to help make his wedding anniversary a little more special for his wife.

It's times like this that make me so glad I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and makes the hours I spend creating and posting my cards here and on Pinterest, all the more rewarding.

Snail mail. It's not a thing of the past. At least not yet!

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! Punch Mug Tags!

Stampin’Up! Punch Mug Tags!

Hey there! This morning I get to help a dear friend set up the reception for her daughter's wedding tomorrow! yay! I will be leaving in just a bit, but before I go I wanted to show you the mugs I've been selling at craft fairs this year:

Stampin_up_cup_tags - Copy

Aren't these just the cutest? I found the mugs at Walmart, filled them with a hot chocolate packet, a candy cane, and a handful of Hershey's kisses, put them in a Stampin' Up! large gusseted bag, then made punched tags to finish them off!

Stampin_up_owl_punch_tag_1 - Copy

After I found the Owl tag idea online, I punched the 2" wide x 4" long tag base of Under The Tree Specialty Paper with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch, then added the Owl and greeting. I used the Owl Builder Punch and the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch to create the owl, then used the Petite Pennants Builder Punch and the medium eye circle punch in the Owl Builder Punch to punch out the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer circles for the Santa hat!

Stampin_up_owl_punch_penguin_1 - Copy

I used the same Scallop Tag Topper Punch and Owl Builder Punch for the penguin. I trimmed off the ears and the feet from the owl body with my Paper Snips, then added Crushed Curry feet and used the heart that is included in the Owl punch to make the Crushed Curry beak!

Frosted Sequins and the Petite Pairs greeting add festive finishing touches to both tags!

That's all for now. You can find all the supplies to create these little guys in my online store here: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

And, don't forget we have an Holiday Extravaganza Sale going on this week, so be sure to click on the icon that looks like this while you are there and then follow the prompts to view the sale. It's a doozy!

There's also a Demonstrator Starter Kit Special going on this week too! Check out the info by clicking on this:

Stampin’ Up! Owl Graduate by Donna!

Stampin’ Up! Owl Graduate by Donna!

Hey there! I'm still up after midnight, so I'm going to do a quick post and then head off to bed!

One of my dear stamping friends, Donna, came to my Birthday Card Buffet this past Saturday. Donna has been stamping with me since probably 2005, over 9 years ago, and during that time has become a really good friend.

Donna stamps ALOT. She has a good portion of her basement outfitted for her stamping domain. We have a monthly stamp camp there and we love it!

Donna made this special graduation card for her niece who just graduated from college:

Stampin_up_owl_builder_graduation_1
Isn't this just adorable????!!!!

Donna used the Owl Builder Punch, the Scalloped Oval Punch, and a few other elements to create her graduating birdie!

Stampin_up_owl_builder_graduation_2

She hand-cut the pieces for the graduation cap, and custom-dyed the Baker's Twine to get the rich red color for the tassel.

Stampin_up_owl_builder_punch_graduation_3
Stamped-off Smoky Slate was used to stamp the "celebrate" background. I love this extra little touch that adds so much to the specialness of this card!

That's all for now! I've got to put myself to bed.

You can find many of the supplies to make this card in my Online Store.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
