Stampin’ Up! Love You Lots Froggy!

Stampin’ Up! Love You Lots Froggy!

Hey there! Still making thank-you cards! Here's another with Love You Lots Host using the froggy!

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_frog_carolpaynestamps1

I cut the "thank" with a Hello You Thinlet, cutting of the "s" from the "thanks".

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_frog_carolpaynestamps2

Although I could have used a Cucumber Crush marker or ink from the lid of  a Cucumber Crush ink pad, I wanted to use Watercolor Pencils to color my froggy, combining  Old Olive, Bermuda Bay, and Pacific Point.

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_frog_carolpaynestamps3

The three colors scribbled and washed with  Blender Pen:

Stampin_up_watercolor_pencils_carolpaynestamps

After stamping with Archival Basic Gray, I scribbled Old Olive pencil first.

Stampin_up_watercolor_pencils_old_olive_carolpaynestamps1

I added Bermuda Bay next.

Stampin_up_bermuda_bay_carolpaynestamps1

I blended both together to see how I liked it.

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_blender_pens_carolpaynestamps

I added Pacific Point, then blended again.

Stampin_up_watercolor_pecils_pacific_point_carolpaynestamps

Finally happy with my colors (I am a beginning watercolorist) I added Clear Wink of Stella.

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_frog_carolpaynestamps19

Inside I kept it simple to leave plenty of room for a personal note.

Stampin’ Up! Love You Lots!

Stampin’ Up! Love You Lots!

Hey there! I've been working on thank-you cards, for online orders and workshop orders. I love the Love You Lots Host set, so I used the elephant/mouse with Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, and Basic Black:

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_carolpaynestamps6

I just love this slightly wooly-looking elephant, making friends with the little mouse!

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_carolpaynestamps2

The texture of the Watermelon Wonder layer embossed with the Boho Chic folder contrasts nicely with the Basic Black layer stamped and sponged with Whisper White Craft ink. The dancing ladybugs on the envelope flap are also from Love You Lots.

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_carolpaynestamps1

I added a single silver Metallic Enamel Shape for some bling. Metallic Enamel Shapes come in hearts, stars, and circles.

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_carolpaynestamps7

I'm leaving the inside blank so I can write on a Post-it Note so the card can be re-used by the recipient!

Stampin_up_love_you_lots_carolpaynestamps4

Gratitude is an attitude I'm trying to cultivate  more in my own life every day.

Love You Lots is a Host set you can "purchase" only with Stampin' Rewards dollars when you submit an order, or a collection of orders from friends, of at least $150. You can do this easily in my online store: http://bit.ly/shopwithCarolPayneStamps

Stampin ‘Up! Dragonfly Dreams and An Experiment!

Stampin ‘Up! Dragonfly Dreams and An Experiment!

Hey there! First I'm sharing the card we made at OnStage last November with Dragonfly Dreams and Inside the Lines Designer Paper:

Stampin_up_inside_the_lines_dragonfly_carolpaynestamps4

We cut a piece of Inside the Lines with a paper cutter and colored with Watercolor Pencils.

We stapled Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine to the strip, tied a bow, and adhered to 5/8" Burlap Ribbon. "Thanks", omitted from the sentiment by inking with a Basic Black marker, provided the greeting.

Stampin_up_inside_the_lines_dragonfly_carolpaynestamps6

For my experiment card I colored  Inside the Lines Designer Paper with Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencils, then smoothed  with a Blender Pen.

Stampin_up_inside_the_lines_dragonfly_carolpaynestamps1

My experiment came about after I colored the vellum-cut dragonfly with a Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker. The marker ink takes a long time to dry, so I sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

Stampin_up_inside_the_lines_dragonfly_carolpaynestamps3

I consider this a failed experiment because:

  1. As the marker ink dried, the glitter is started flaking off.
  2. The glitter prevented the Rhinestone from sticking well.

Conclusion:

Glitter won't stick to marker  (or any water-based dye) ink.

This is one of many things that's great about stamping:  you can play with ideas; some work fantastically, and some don't, but it's ALL FUN!

You can get a pack of Inside the Lines Designer Paper FREE with any $50 order in my online store: http://bit.ly/shopwithCarolPayneStamps

Stampin’ Up! Bear Hugs for a Baby Boy!

Stampin’ Up! Bear Hugs for a Baby Boy!

Hey there! I just love new babies! Today there's a baby shower at church for a girl who's having a little boy. Her nursery theme is "fishing", so I used  Bear Hugs  and One Big Meaning to create this:

Stampin_up_bear_hugs_carolpaynestamps1 - Copy

I started with a Tip Top Taupe card base, stamping with the Hardwood Background and Tip Top Taupe ink. I punched a 1 1/2" circle, lining up the right edge of the punch with the right edge of the card and pushing the card base in as far as it would go.

Stampin_up_bear_hugs_carolpaynestamps2 - Copy

I stamped the greeting from One Big Meaning with Tip Top Taupe on Very Vanilla, punching with the Classic Label Punch.

Stampin_up_bear_hugs_carolpaynestamps3 - Copy

I laid the Very Vanilla inside layer inside the card to stamp the Bear Hugs fish through the circle. I used the Baby Wipe Technique to create a custom "inkpad" with Pool Party and Island Indigo ink refills. I hand-drew the bubbles with a Pool Party Stampin' Write Marker.

Stampin_up_bear_hugs_carolpaynestamps4 - Copy

I added Bear Hugs sentiment inside with Tip Top Taupe. I made 40 of these clean-and-simple cards in just a few hours! Easy-peasy!

Stampin’ Up! Mixed Borders!

Stampin’ Up! Mixed Borders!

Hey there! Today's card is another with the Bleach Technique. I love it when I'm playing with a technique and the ideas just keep rollin'!

For today's card I started by bleach stamping Soft Sky card stock with Touches of Texture stamps to get a Very Vanilla color. After the bleach finished developing and dried, I stamped the Definitely Dahlia Background with Versamark in the upper right corner.

Stampin_up_mixed_borders_carolpaynestamps1 - Copy

I used the new Mixed Borders to stamp the Very Vanilla greeting banner that I had punched with the Banner Triple Punch. I used Basic Black Archival ink for the leaves, then stamped the greeting with Pool Party. The Mixed Borders set leaves a space within the border so you can stamp the words in it! I tied a bit of new Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine around the banner in a knot.

Stampin_up_mixed_borders_carolpaynestamps2 - Copy

Hopefully you can see the Versamark-stamped Definitely Dahlia better in this picture:

Stampin_up_mixed_borders_carolpaynestamps3 - Copy

Inside I stamped the dahlia again with Pool Party and used a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to ink up just part of a stamp from One Big Meaning.

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop March Edition, Color Challenge!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop March Edition, Color Challenge!

Hey there! It's time for the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop! Thirteen blogs with thirteen awesome ideas from top Stampin' Up! Demonstrators! yay!

1797524_10152216933805070_1250170996_n

March's Hop theme is a color challenge!

12800334_10208302250532443_2139346626269064900_n

This color challenge was REALLY a challenge for me! If you follow my blog you know I usually don't use this many colors on one card. Three at the most, and one is usually a  neutral, like Whisper White or Very Vanilla!

So I just played with these colors until I came up with this:

Stampin_up_petite_petals_carolpaynestamps1

I cut a stencil to sponge Lost Lagoon, Blackberry Bliss, and Calypso Coral butterflies on a Whisper White background, then stamped and punched Petite Petals flowers to match!

Stampin_up_petite_petals_carolpaynestamps2

I managed to use the Old Olive and Hello Honey colors by punching the leaves from Old Olive card stock and punching the flower centers from Hello Honey-stamped blooms with the tiny flower in the Tree Builder Punch!

Although the ribbon is Watermelon Wonder 1" Striped Satin, it coordinates perfectly with Calypso Coral, don't you think?

Stampin_up_petite_petals_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I sponged more butterflies and stamped a greeting from the Perfect Pairings Sale-a-bration set. REMEMBER! Sale-a-bration will END on Thursday, March 31st, so be sure to place your order of $50 or more so you can get a freebie from the Sale-a-bration brochure!
