Stampin ‘Up! Dragonfly Dreams and An Experiment!

Hey there! First I'm sharing the card we made at OnStage last November with Dragonfly Dreams and Inside the Lines Designer Paper:

We cut a piece of Inside the Lines with a paper cutter and colored with Watercolor Pencils.

We stapled Basic Black Solid Baker's Twine to the strip, tied a bow, and adhered to 5/8" Burlap Ribbon. "Thanks", omitted from the sentiment by inking with a Basic Black marker, provided the greeting.

For my experiment card I colored  Inside the Lines Designer Paper with Melon Mambo, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight Watercolor Pencils, then smoothed  with a Blender Pen.

My experiment came about after I colored the vellum-cut dragonfly with a Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker. The marker ink takes a long time to dry, so I sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

I consider this a failed experiment because:

  1. As the marker ink dried, the glitter is started flaking off.
  2. The glitter prevented the Rhinestone from sticking well.

Conclusion:

Glitter won't stick to marker  (or any water-based dye) ink.

This is one of many things that's great about stamping:  you can play with ideas; some work fantastically, and some don't, but it's ALL FUN!

  1. Carol, I really like your card, at least in the picture the dragonfly is very glittery and beautiful! I so agree, that we can experiment and have fun, even If our experiment may turn out to be a miss….great job and thanks for sharing this information….Have a great weekend!
