Stampin’ Up! Cookie Cutter Halloween Mummy Get Well!

Stampin’ Up! Cookie Cutter Halloween Mummy Get Well!

Hey there! One thing I love to do is take a seasonal stamp set and use it for something different than you expect. My brother recently had shoulder surgery and I wanted to make him a get well card. I used the mummy from the Cookie Cutter Halloween set to create this:

Stampin_up_cookie_cutter_halloween_carolpaynestamps1

I used Basic Black for the card base, then embossed Basic Gray with the Cable Knit Dynamic folder.

TIP FOR USING THE CABLE KNIT FOLDER: Spritz your card stock lightly with water before embossing. This will allow the folder to deeply emboss without cracking the card stock.

I use dimensionals to adhere the embossed layer to the card front.

I stamped Whisper White with stamped-off Smokey Slate using a Timeless Textures stamp. After I stamped the mummy over it with Basic Gray ink, I punched with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I colored around the outside edges with a Blender Pen and Basic Gray ink. I cut the background layers with Lots of Labels Framelits, and added loops of Silver Metallic Thread behind the dimensionals I used to adhere the mummy.

I kept the inside clean-and-simple, adding a 1/2" x 5 1/4" strip of Halloween Night Specialty paper along the sides.

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop July Edition is Tomorrow!

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop July Edition is Tomorrow!

Hey there!  Today I have a refresh of a card I featured earlier this year using the collage technique. You can view the original one HERE.

The En Francais background stamp used on the original retired, so when my hostess for this past Saturday asked to make this card I had to think a bit to find a replacement.

I believe I found perfection with Postage Due, stamped in Sahara Sand for the first layer of the collage stamping technique.

Stampin_up_postage_due_collage_1

After stamping the Postage Due, we followed with the tree from Thoughts & Prayers stamped in Always Artichoke, and blossoms from Flower Shop and Petitie Petals in Rich Razzleberry. We softly sponged color on the images with a soft, swirling motion instead of pouncing or dragging the sponge.

The greeting is from And Many More with a stamped-off Always Artichoke tree behind it, then punched with the Large Oval Punch.

We used the new Venetian Crochet Trim behind the Rich Razzleberry Scalloped Oval, then finished off with a Papillon Potpourri butterfly punched with the Elegant Butterfly punch.

Stampin_up_postage_due_collage_2

Inside we collage-stamped just like the outside, then added a sentiment from A Lovely Romance with Always Artichoke ink.

That's all for now! The Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop begins at midnight EDT, so all of our creations will be here in the morning!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Free Shipping, Retiring Lists, Weekly Deals, and Secret Garden!

Hey there! Just posting quick today. I have a workshop tonight and tomorrow night that I am prepping for, so I'm a bit time crunched today. I've been trying to add a few non-stamping additions to my day that take bites out of my prep (and blogging!) time, coupled with the dratted Typepad downtime that we experienced for almost 5 days, it's really gotten me out of my blogging routine! I'm trying to exercise more and eat healthier to try to relieve some inflamation and joint pain I've been experiencing. It seems to be helping, but I just don't have my new routine figured out yet. I'm so sorry!

If you get (and open) my  newsletter emails you know about the FREE SHIPPING that Stampin' Up! has going on right now, but just in case you missed it:

Stampin_up_secret_garden_kathy_johnson

A pretty little thinking of you card by Kathy Johnson from one of my past monthly swaps! Cathy stamped the Secret Garden image on Whisper White, then ran the layer through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder, giving it an embedded look! The greeting is from Thoughts & Prayers, and she cut out one of the Secret Garden blooms with the Secret Garden Framelit Dies.

Secret Garden stamps and framelits, as well as the Square Lattice TIEF are both on the Retiring List. Don't delay if you want them for your collection, and shipping is still free through tomorrow!

That's all for now! Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! Sunday Swap Day Masculine Sympathy and a Thank You!

Stampin’Up! Sunday Swap Day Masculine Sympathy and a Thank You!

It's Sunday, which means it's Sunday Swap Day, the day I share some of the swaps I receive each month from the swap groups I belong to!

I really like these cards!

Sherri Beyrer used wood-planking from Truly Grateful, the moose and "thinking of you" from Walk in the Wild, 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon, the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die, and the Circle Card Thinlet Die for her creation. The colors she used are Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.

Sherri beyrer 1

On the "flip" side of this card she used a phrase from Thoughts & Prayers, and the acorn stamp from Truly Grateful

Sherri beyrer 2

Raedean Shibata used Island Indigo and Very Vanilla to create her elegant and serene thanks card. Starting with the Label Card Thinlet Die, she added flourishes from Creative Elements, strips of Island Indigo embossed with the Square Lattice folder, a decorative edge from a Finishing Touches Edgelit, Coastal Cabana 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim, and a flower and greeting from Blooming with Kindness.

Raedean shibata 1

Inside the "flip", she stamped another phrase from Blooming with Kindness.

Raedean shibata 2

That's all for now! Today is my quarterly meeting with my Yes, Mam! Stampers, and I can hardly wait! We are trying a new meeting location and format. I am excited to see how it goes!

Stampin’Up! Stampin’ Glitter Pumpkin!

Stampin’Up! Stampin’ Glitter Pumpkin!

I spent the day shopping with two of my three daughters, Jessica & Alisa. Tomorrow is Jessica's birthday, but she will be shooting a wedding so I won't get to see her. I intended to take my camera with me today to at least get a picture of us together, but rats, I ran out of the house this morning without it! Hopefully when we have our family get-to-gether on Sunday for her birthday I will get a few pics to share with you then!

I've been seeing some really gorgeous cards made with the Stampin' Glitter in the Holiday Catalog, so I decided to have a go at creating with it myself! This is tonight's creation:

Glitter pumpkin 1

I started by adhering a Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet from the Annual Catalog to Very Vanilla cardstock. I then punched with the Extra-Large Oval punch three times. After removing the remaining protective cover to expose the adhesive, I then laid the ovals in a coffee filter and sprinkled them heavily with the Orange Stampin' Glitter. I pressed the glitter firmly into the adhesive with my fingers before tapping off the excess. I removed the glitter that wanted to cling to the backside of the ovals so I could assemble my pumpkin with Stampin' Dimensionals. I then adhered my pumpkin to the Early Espresso Core'dinations layer that I had embossed with the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Folder and my Big Shot. I also lightly sanded the woodgrain to bring out more of the texture. The card base and the Bird Builder-punched leaves are Always Artichoke. "Thinking of You" is from Wetlands, stamped in Early Espresso on a scrap of Venetian Romance Designer Paper that I then cut out with one of the Circle Card Thinlet Dies. For the four-petal flower on the word banner I punched the leftover cardstock from punching the ovals to punch with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack 4-petal flower. I added the Pearl Basic Jewel before I added the glitter.

Glitter pumpkin 2
I decided I needed for this to be a get well card, so I used a phrase from the tried-and-true set, Thoughts and Prayers. The flower spray is from the same set. I added more glittered flowers and leaves in the lower corner to finish everything off!

Tip: When working with any of our Stampin' Glitters, you will need to remove any excess glitter from your project once you are done or it will end up with "glitter scatter", as you can see in my sample above. A few quick swipes with a Swiffer cloth should do the trick nicely!

That's all for now! I'm all tuckered out from our shopping day. Did I mention that two of my grandbabies, Jaxon and Oakley, went with us? I had fun with my daughters and my grandson! yay!

To create your own glittered pumpkins you can order the supplies from my Online Store. The link to my Online Store is over there on the top right side of my blog. Place an order, receive a hand-stamped thank you from me and Bluesox Rewards if your order is $25 or more!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Serene Silhouettes Swap to Share!

Stampin’ Up! Serene Silhouettes Swap to Share!

Good morning! Still mining my swap stash while I play "catch-up" from being sick!

Todays card is one I don't really enjoy making, but they have to be done, don't they?

The creator of the card used Serene Silhouettes and Thoughts & Prayers stamp sets, the Oval Collection Framelits, the Honeycomb Textured Impressions Folder, Whisper White 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Pool Party Core'dinations cardstock, and Island Indigo and Whisper White cardstock to create a truly serene, restful card.

Serene silhouettes

I apologize for the poor lighting. I took these pictures while still stuck on the couch sick on Monday. Pool Party and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Write Markers were used to ink up the flower image (what kind of flower IS that, anyway? I'm not a horticulturist!), then tiny Basic Jewel Pearls were added to finish them off sweetly.

Thanks for stopping by! Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
