Stampin’ Up! Retiring Medallion Newsprint Reveal Technique!

Stampin’ Up! Retiring Medallion Newsprint Reveal Technique!

Good Friday Morning Stampers! The weekend is almost here, school is almost out, and summer is just around the corner! Yay!

I've been working this week on the Punch/Technique Class Projects for May. I've already shown you the 3 Punch Projects we will be doing, now it's time to start showing you the Techniques!

Our Technique for today features the "Newsprint Reveal" Technique and the retiring "Medallion" Background Stamp:

Newsprint reveal 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

The card base is the retiring 2010-2012 In-Color "Pear Pizzazz", and the ink that has been inkpad-direct-to-paper dragged over the clear-embossed retiring "Medallion" image is the also retiring  2010-2012 In-Color "Peach Parfait"!

Some elements of this card that are NOT retiring is the "First Edition" Designer Specialty Paper, the "Antique Brad", and the "Thinking of You" from "Thoughts and Prayers"! There is more to the "Thinking of You" stamp, but I omitted the rest by only inking up the part I needed with my Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Added note: I've received my complimentary Demonstrator Copy of the New 2012-2013 Annual Catalog and it is awesomely gorgeous! One new feature beginning on June 1 will be that all the remaining wood-mount sets from the previous catalog are now available in Clear-Mount as well! Yippee! This includes "Thoughts and Prayers" AND "Lovely As a Tree"! The only exception to this change is some of the background stamps remain wood-mount only, but some of them, such as "Sunflower", "Sweet Floral", and "Hello, Doily" are now available in both wood AND clear! SO COOL!

This was a fun and EASY technique! I like to include both easy and a little more challenging techniques in my monthly class so there is something for everyone to learn!

In case you were wondering about the inside of this card, here it is:

Newsprint reveal 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I clear-embossed the medallion image again directly onto the Pear Pizzazz cardstock, which gives it the tone-on-tone look! The verse is from the NOT retiring set, "Blessings from Heaven"! The combination of this verse and greeting makes this card quite versatile. It could be a simple thinking of you, birthday, sympathy, or even a thank you card.

Since we are on the subject of the New Annual Catalog, how would you like a copy of your own? You can receive a FREE copy from me when you:

1. Come to my New-Catalog "Crazy Day" on Friday, June 1st anytime from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. I will also be having my "Buy One, Get One" Sale that day. For every dollar you order from the New Catalog that day you will be able to choose an equal dollar amount of retired merchandise from my retired Stampin' Up! stash!

2. Place an Online Order of at least $25 with me between now and May 31st. You can go to my Demonstrator Business Website to do this:

www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Upon receipt of your order I will ship a free catalog direct to you in early June!

3. If you want a free catalog but prefer to wait until after receiving the New Annual Catalog, you can still have it free but I will need to collect the price of shipping it to you, which is $5. You will also receive a coupon good for $5 off your first order of $50 or more with your catalog. I can send you a Paypal Invoice for payment, just let me know!

I will be back tomorrow with the second technique, "Misted Markers"! Until then, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

Stampin’ Up! Retiring 5 Petal Flower Mermaid!

Stampin’ Up! Retiring 5 Petal Flower Mermaid!

I still have so many things to show you with Stampin' Up! retiring products, I'm afraid I'm going to run out of month before I can show you them all! Then you add in all the fabulous new Sneek-Peek items that will be arriving on my doorstep starting tomorrow, oh my!

Here's another one of this month's punch projects, a mermaid inspired by Dawn Olchefske!

Mermaid 1

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

LOTS of punches used for this little lady, but the only one retiring this time is the 5-Petal Flower Punch which was used for the end of her tail!

I also used the retiring "Snowburst" Textured Impressions Folder to emboss her body and tail, then used a Sponge Dauber to brush on a coat of Frost White Shimmer Paint! Her hair is retiring "Poppy Parade" cardstock punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and the Boho Blossoms flower adorning her hair is topped off with a retiring "Clear Rhinestone Brad"!

Tomorrow is another Quilted card using square punches! Until then, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

Stampin’Up! Punch Class Graduation Owl!

Stampin’Up! Punch Class Graduation Owl!

I've been working on the projects for Punch/Technique Class this month and found inspiration for an adorable graduation card somewhere on the web, but right now I can't remember who. If you know who came up with this cutie patootie, let me know so I can give them credit! Lookie:

Grad cap card 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

An okay card from this side, kind of plain, but a pretty good representation of a graduation cap, (the "happy graduation" is from "Teeny Tiny Wishes") but the real fun starts when you turn it over:

Grad cap card 2

Then open the box-like folds:

Grad cap card 3

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

TAA-DAAA!!!!!

Purty cute, dontcha think???? His nose is the heart that is part of the Owl Builder Punch, his wings are from the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch cut down with the Paper Snips, and his cap is a rectangle that starts out 1" x 1 1/2",  is scored at 1/2" and 3/4" on two sides with the Simply Scored, then hand-trimmed with the Paper Snips. The cap base is from the Petite Pennants Builder Punch then hand-trimmed with the Paper Snips. A tassel of White Baker's Twine and the 1/2" Circle Punch finish the cap off perfectly!

That's it for today! I have to finish Kimberly's baby shower thank-you's before her next shower this afternoon!  I'm stamping and assembling them, SHE is actually writing the thank-you notes! Oh, and I need show you the decorations from her shower this past Sunday, don't I?

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

Stampin’Up! Today Is the Last Day to order from the Occasions Mini!

Stampin’Up! Today Is the Last Day to order from the Occasions Mini!

Today is the last day to order from the Occasions Mini AND the last day for the Summer Smooches Sneak Peek! Here's a swap from the Spring Into Stamping Event I attended this month using the "Bright Blossoms" stamp set and the "Summer Smooches" Designer Paper and Fabric! I've had these on my camera for more than a week and today was the first chance I've had to download them!

I love this swap, but wasn't able to bring the real thing home with me so I don't know who the creator was! The "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" greeting is also from a set that will be unavailable after today, "Loved Ones"!

I have a BUNCH of great stamping idea pictures from this event which I will be sharing a few over the next week or so. Here's a full card that someone made for the "Spring Into Stamping" leader Kim Peck. Kim is moving from Central Illinois to California, so everyone was signing this "we will miss you, friend" card:

Mixed bunch 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

This was a large 8 1/2 x 5 1/2" card using an entire 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock base folded in half. No envelope was needed as this was hand-delivered to Kim at the end of this event. The creator used the "My Friend" and "Perfectly Penned" stamp sets, which are not retiring, but also used the "Mixed Bunch" stamp set to create the lacy butterfly, which will be unavailable after today!

I have one last order going in for this month tonight at 10 p.m. CST, so if there are some Occasions Mini or Summer Smooches items you need to order, just contact me by phone or email and I will get them ordered for you!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" day!
