Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Ornament!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Ornament!

Hey there! Now that I'm done sharing  my Creative Crew projects, I can finish sharing the Night in Bethlehem projects I made for Vacation Stamping School!

My project today was inspired by a Christmas card idea I found last year. It has no watermark so I can't give anyone credit for the inspiration, but here's the idea and my project side by side:
Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps1
The project on the left used retired designer paper, stamps, and dies, but the background paper is what inspired my ornament with the "cracked glass" technique!

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps2

I glue-dotted Gold Metallic Thread between two gold Foil Snowflakes (there are also silver in the package) for my ornament base. After stamping the Holy Family with black in on Very Vanilla and punching with the Everyday Label Punch, I sponged the edges with black ink. I let the ink dry for a bit, then pressed a Versamark ink pad directly on the whole piece, sprinkled with Clear embossing powder, and then heated with my Heat Tool. I repeated this process 5 times to get a thick layer of clear embossing over the image. I then popped it into the freezer for about 10 minutes, then removed and immediately twisted the paper to make the frozen embossing layers crack. I put it back in the freezer for another 10 minutes and repeated the cracking upon removal.

I sponged the cracks with Soft Suede ink to help them show up more, then adhered to the gold Foil Snowflake with several dimensionals. I cut a snowflake from a Gold Foil sheet with the smallest die in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets. After adhering with a glue dot, I added a single pearl.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps3

On the flip side I used the cracked glass technique over the Night in Bethlehem sentiment. This handmade keepsake could possibly become a family heirloom!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917SK Polished Stone Leaves!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917SK Polished Stone Leaves!

Hey there! Today I am sharing my final project for the September Creative Crew Challenges on Splitcoaststampers. For this card, we were to use the Fall theme and this sketch for our inspiration:

Quilt_59a005a8794692f91addc1dcb1b4db874c98f64b

With a sketch you can follow it literally, using four squares arranged just as shown, or you can use another shape or whatever and go with the inspiration. I chose the later way to create my card:

Stampin_up_colorful_season_label_me_pretty_carolpaynestamps1

I used the Polished Stone technique from my previous post here.

After stamping the leaf from Colorful Seasons with Early Espresso ink, I stamped a Label Me Pretty  sentiment on a plain area, then cut with a Seasonal Layers Thinlet. I arranged them to resemble the sketch over a Soft Suede layer I embossed with the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

I stamped the inside with a Better Together sentiment and added another polished stone leaf.

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917TECH Pocketful of Polished Stone!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917TECH Pocketful of Polished Stone!

Hey there! Today I'm sharing another project from the Creative Crew challenges on Splitcoaststampers. We were asked take the same technique we used for our card and turn it into a scrapbook page, framed art, or 3-D project. I used the Pocket Framelits with the Burlap background and the Polished Stone technique to create this adorable treat pocket!

Stampin_up_pocketful_of_sunshine_thanksgiving_carolpaynestamps1

Again, I'm loving the look of Burlap stamped with Sahara Sand ink on Sahara Sand card stock! Adding the pocket details with the Pocketful of Sunshine stamp set, then cutting with the Pocket Framelits is just the best!

The leaves were created with the Polished Stone technique. You can catch the link to this tutorial on Splitcoaststampers here.

I cut the leaves with the smaller leaf from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets after stamping the Polished Stone piece with a Colorful Seasons leaf image.

Stampin_up_colorful_seasons_polished_stone_carolpaynestamps1

A Gold Faceted Gem makes the perfect center for a Touches of Nature Element. I made a teeny tiny banner to stamp "happy thanksgiving" from Teeny Tiny wishes.

Stampin_up_pocketful_of_sunshine_thanksgiving_carolpaynestamps2

To create the pocket, cut two pocket fronts with flaps using the Pocket Framelit:

Stampin_up_pocketful_of_sunshine_burlap_carolpaynestamps1

Adhere the 3/4" x 7 1/2", scored at 2 1/4", 3 3/4" and 5 1/4". Fold on the scored lines, then add Multipurpose Liquid Glue to the pocket flaps to adhere to the edges of the folded strip.

Stampin_up_pocketful_of_sunshine_carolpaynestamps1

Final touch is the Jute Twine handle added to the sides, tied through holes punched with the 1/8" Circle Handheld punch. I tied a double knot in the ends to secure.

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917TECH Polished Stone Colorful Seasons!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917TECH Polished Stone Colorful Seasons!

Hey there! Another of the challenges for the September Creative Crew is to take a tutorial from the Splitcoaststampers and create a project with the Fall theme. I chose the Polished Stone tutorial by Beate Johns. You'll find her tutorial here.

I used Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red with the Polished Stone technique to create the leaves I stamped with a Colorful Seasons leaf and cut out with a Seasonal Layers Thinlet die. I added a Soft Suede leaf for contrast. If you've been watching my blog for a few days you probably have figured out that I'm in love with the Burlap Background stamp, especially when it's stamped on Sahara Sand card stock with Sahara Sand ink!

Stampin_up_colorful_seasons_polished_stone_carolpaynestamps4

I'm also a little bit obsessed with this Happy Birthday greeting from Butterfly Basics! The Gold Faceted Gems add just the right amount of sparkle!

Stampin_up_colorful_seasons_polished_stone_carolpaynestamps5

I breathed on the leftover ink on the Burlap stamp before I laid the Very Vanilla layer on it to gently rub for ink transfer. Label Me Pretty provided the sentiment.

Stampin Up! Sunday Swap Day September 3!

Stampin Up! Sunday Swap Day September 3!

Hey there! Since it's Sunday, I am taking a break today from the Creative Crew Challenges with a Fall theme to share with you another stack of swaps!

First, Amy Combs used Beautiful Bouquet with Petal Garden Designer Paper and the Garden Trellis embossing folder for her warm-but-elegant card:

Stampin_up_beautiful_bouquet_carolpaynestamps1

Next, Raedean Shibata used the corner of her inkpads (Wild Wasabi and Pear Pizzazz?) to drag across the white layer to create a unique background  for the So Many Shells greeting she cut with a Stitched Shapes oval framelit. The Night of Navy 5/8" Crinkled Seam Binding sets off the Night of Navy stamped greeting, as well as the Night of Navy mat layer cut with a Lots of Labels Framelit.

Stampin_up_beautiful_bouquet_carolpaynestamps4

Sheila Roberts used the Coffee Cafe' Bundle, Coffee Break Designer Paper, and a clear Window Sheet for her creation. The "happy birthday" is from Rose Wonder and "celebrate" is from Thoughtful Banners.

Stampin_up_coffee_cafe_carolpaynestamps1

Cheryl Noble used  Lots of Love for her creation.

Stampin_up_lots_of_love_carolpaynestamps1

The "consider yourself hugged" circle is the end of a ribbon bookmark!

Stampin_up_lots_of_love_carolpaynestamps2

Finally, Linda Harris used the You Move Me Bundle to create her "bridge" card. I HAVE to try this fold soon!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917INSP Woodland Foxy Friends!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917INSP Woodland Foxy Friends!

Hey there! Today I'm sharing another of my fall projects created for a Creative Crew Challenge at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

We were give an assortment of Fall-themed pictures to inspire our work. Here are the three photos I used:

Birch_trees_5c0378868d17830d8644ee669e28ea2ab12a6d77  Leaf_6f559920a584826a32d6c976707913976f683412  Fox_ee3142f241e61259d6800538d9005ec096778eff

I used the Woodland Textured Impression Embossing Folder, Foxy Friends stamps, and Colorful Seasons Bundle:

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps1

How did Carol do that? Before embossing the Sahara Sand layer with the Woodland folder, I stamped a Foxy Friends fox with Pumpkin Pie ink and the stump with Early Espresso directly on the negative inside of the folder. (by "negative" I'm referring to the side where the tree trunks are not raised up) After carefully inserting the card stock into the folder against the un-inked side and closing it, I ran it through the Big Shot. I used a Blender Pen to smooth and add a bit more color to the fox, then used a Sponge Dauber to add Whisper White Craft ink to the tree trunks.

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps2

I used my popped-up banner technique to display the Colorful Seasons greeting, framing each side with leaves created with the Colorful Seasons Bundle and the Polished Stone Technique. The leaves get their brilliant colors from Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red ink refills. (I will be sharing more about Polished Stone in my Monday post) I sponged Early Espresso ink onto Touch of Nature Elements for the finishing touch.

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped inside with the Butterfly Basics "Happy birthday"; stamping a couple of small Colorful Seasons leaves inked using the Baby Wipe technique and the Polished Stone ink refills.

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917SIP Painted Harvest and the Holiday Catalog is LIVE!!!!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917SIP Painted Harvest and the Holiday Catalog is LIVE!!!!

Hey there! Today is the start of the Holiday Catalog! No more "sneak peeks"; you can order these inspiring products for yourself today!

I joined the Splitcoaststampers Creative Crew for the fall semester. The Creative Crew  is the Stampin' Up! Design Team on Splitcoaststampers, participating in challenges each month. The September theme is Fall. I love, love, LOVE fall!

The first challenge: create simple and stepped-up versions of the same project.  I used the Painted Harvest Bundle and the Burlap Background for mine.

For my simple project I stamped everything on a Sahara Sand card base. NO LAYERS! (gasp!)
Stampin_up_painted_autumn_one_layer_carolpaynestamps1

Here's a tip with the large background stamps (clear mount): If you like to place your image face-up on your stamping surface like I do and then lay your card stock on the inked image to gently rub to transfer the ink, YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE THE GIANT STAMPING BLOCK!!! You can leave the stamp inside the case, ink with the pad, and then lay your card stock on it! This was a light bulb moment for me I just had to share! You will still need the largest clear block for some of our other large images and to arrange multiple stamps for collage stamping, but to leave the background stamps in the case this way is a huge time saver!

Step 1
After stamping the Burlap image with Sahara Sand ink, I went ahead and stamped the sunflower layer twice with Daffodil Delight, turning the stamp about a quarter turn between inkings to get a nice, full bloom. I stamped the inside flower layer with Fresh Fig, the center with stamped-off Soft Suede, and the "seeds" with full-strength Soft Suede.

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_one_layer_carolpaynestamps2

To stamp the Tranquil Tide leaves I stamped the largest bloom twice on a large Post-it Note, cut it out to create a mask, covered the sunflower with the mask before stamping the leaves around the bloom with the ends stamping over the mask. When I removed the mask the leaves have the look of depth, as if they are coming from behind the bloom.

Step 6 Stampin_up_painted_autumn_one_layer_carolpaynestamps2
I kept the front free of any other embellishment, I just let the stamps and ink do the work.

I added a card base of Tranquil Tide and a layer of Fresh Fig to start my stepped-up version:

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_stepped_up_banner_carolpaynestamps1

I stamped the Butterfly Basics greeting on a 1" strip of Sahara Sand that I punched each end with the Banner Triple Punch. I scored twice 1/8" apart on each side of the words, folding on the score lines to make a raised banner. After sponging the edges with Soft Suede I popped them up on the card with a two-dimensional stack under the center and a glue dot on each end.

Stampin_up_painted_autumn_stepped_up_banner_carolpaynestamps3

I used the same masking technique for the leaves around the sunflower, adding a Gold Faceted Gem to the center to complete the stepped-up look.

I love this Painted Harvest sentiment:
