Stampin’ Up! Chalkboard Technique!

Hey there and welcome to the October edition of the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! Our October theme is a fun technique, Chalkboard!

1800397_10152216696440070_2004070056_n

I used the Merriest Moments Bundle to create two card with the Chalkboard Technique. First I cut & embossed the frame with Snowy White 12" x 12" specialty paper using the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps1-1

I heat embossed the sentiment from Merriest Moments using white embossing powder and my Heat Tool. After heating, I cut it out with the rectangle die from the set (the Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder name is a bit misleading, the package also contains dies) then added smudges of white craft ink using a Blending Brush to look like an old-fashioned chalkboard.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps2-1

The poinsettia image is from Merriest Moments. I cut it and the gold bloom with more dies from the Merriest Frames pack. I finished it off with a Gilded Gem.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps3

These little cuties are part of it too. I cut them from Cherry Cobbler card stock!

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I stamped another Merriest Moments sentiment with black ink.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps5

For my second chalkboard creation, I used Blushing Bride for a softer color palette.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps6

I used the same heat embossing method as with the first card, then added the chalkboard smudges again with white craft ink and a Blending Brush.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps7

The Merriest Frames Hybrid Embossing Folder includes these pretty scattered "sparkles" when you emboss an entire layer of card stock.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps8

I tied a few inches of Blushing Bride 3/8" Frayed Grosgrain in a pretty knot then wrapped the ends around the chalkboard layer.

Stampin_up_merriest_moments_carolpaynestamps9

Inside and out I added a few Elegant Gems in the Petal Pink color for some sparkle. I stamped the inside sentiment with Blushing Bride ink.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day December 9th!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day December 9th!

Hey there! It's Sunday and time for Sunday Swap Day! Yay!

Today's swaps are all from the Stampin' Up! OnStage in Orlando last month.

First a pretty snowy adaptation of the dancing girl from Beautiful You! Did you ever think Mrs. Clause was ever this young and thin? Me either, but just like the rest of us, she was!

ETA: Jennie Portonova is the creator of this card.

After a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend Marker colored her dress, the background was embossed the the Softly Falling Textured Impressions folder. The finishing touch is the white embossing paste added to create the fur trim! The greeting is from the retiring Holiday Catalog set, Making Christmas Bright.

Stampin_up_beautiful_you_carolpaynestamps1

The creator of this lovely card heat embossed the greeting from Merry Christmas to All with white powder on the Basic Black Stitched Label for a "chalkboard" look. The pinecones were cut with a Pretty Pines Thinlet and held together with a bow of 1/4" Copper Trim.

Stampin_up_merry_christmas_to_all_carolpaynestamps1

The Winter Woods Bundle was used to create this lovely gem. The tree is accented with Shimmery White Embossing Paste and Red Rhinestones add extra sparkle. The greeting is from Star of Light. Winter Woods stamps and Into the Woods Thinlets are not retiring, but the bundle of both together is!

Stampin_up_winter_woods_carolpaynestamps1

Finally, a quick card using carrying-over Wishing You Well with retiring Festive Farmhouse Designer Paper.

Stampin’ Up! Marquee Messages Card Number Two for the May Online Class!

Stampin’ Up! Marquee Messages Card Number Two for the May Online Class!

Hey there! I'm back this morning with another Marquee Messages card, the second  for the May Online Class. I used the "chalkboard technique" for today's card, accenting with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush:

Stampin_up_marquee_messages_chalkboard_carolpaynestamps1 - Copy

I embossed the Pool Party background with the Polka Dot folder, then used the "chalkboard" technique to emboss the marquee and greetings with White embossing powder. I rubbed my embossing buddy over the Basic Black card stock first before stamping with Versamark and sprinkling with white powder. The outline of the marquee was hand-cut with Paper Snips.

I stamped the arrow portion of the marquee with Archival Basic Black ink on Flirty Flamingo, again hand-cutting with my snips. I added a touch of Clear Wink of Stella to each "light bulb" on the arrow for some sparkle. I layered it over the chalkboard marquee with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms Chalkboard!

Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms Chalkboard!

Hey there! This morning I'm on my way to help my photographer daughter's house to get her tax nfo ready for her tax lady. We do this once a year, and it takes all day, but it's one of the rare days of the year we get to spend the whole day together so I love it!

Today I"m sharing another card created for my #imbringingbirthdaysback stamp-a-stack but didn't make the cut. I used the chalkboard technique with Birthday Blooms stamps and Timeless Elegance Designer Paper:
Stampin_up_birthday_blooms_1_carolpaynestamps - Copy

I started with a Lost Lagoon card base, a layer of Basic Gray, then a layer of  Timeless Elegance Designer Paper softly sponged with Soft Sky ink using a Sponge Dauber.

Stampin_up_birthday_blooms_2_carolpaynestamps - Copy

The reason this card didn't make "the cut" for my class is probably obvious. After I heat-embossed the blooms on Basic Black with white powder, I gently sponged the blooms only with White Craft ink for the "chalkboard" look. I "fancy cut" with my Paper Snips (aka fussy cut) the blooms.

Stampin_up_birthday_blooms_3_carolpaynestamps - Copy

I layered Venetian Crochet Trim over Basic Black 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon, and added a white-heat-embossed greeting from Birthday Blooms punched with the Washi Label Punch.

Stampin_up_birthday_blooms_4_carolpaynestamps - Copy

Inside I punched the Very Vanilla corners with the Curvy Corner Trio Punch and stamped the bloom again with Soft Sky ink.

Stampin’ Up! Friendly Wishes!

Stampin’ Up! Friendly Wishes!

Hey there. We are turning a corner today. With the launch of the new 2015-16 Catalog less than a week away, it's time to start sharing some sneak peeks!

Yesterday I finished my monthly swap and took it to the Post Office. I am excited because this month's swap features New Catalog Sneak Peek products. I will have 20 new and different projects to add to my New Catalog Kick-off Display! yay!

For my swap I used the new Friendly Wishes stamps set, Boho Chic Textured Impressions Folder, and Bohemian Designer Series Paper:

Stampin_up_friendly_wishes_1 - Copy

This set has 10 images, perfect for the "chalkboard" technique. I embossed the greeting with white Stampin' Emboss Powder on Basic Black card stock, then used the 2 1/2" Circle to punch it out. Layering more circles of differing sizes punched from the Bohemian Designer Paper gives this card a fun, eclectic look!

Stampin_up_friendly_wishes_2 - Copy

Inside I stamped the sentiment first with Island Indigo ink, then chalkboard embossed the image a second time on Basic Black card stock. I used the largest Bitty Banner Framelit die to cut the "FRIEND" banner, then popped it up with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals.

All of the products used on this card will be available to order in my Online Store on June 2nd: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net
