Stampin’ Up! Gingerbread Man!

Hey there stamping friends! I can’t believe I am finally getting to use my blog! Typepad, the blog platform I have used since I started blogging in 2007, closed down at the end of September, so I had to choose a new blog platform. A close friend of mine and a member of my team, Joanne Cantrell, uses Word Press for her blog, so I asked her to “help me” migrate my blog to the same platform. (by “help” I mean she DID IT ALL for me, lol)

I’ve been wanting to get back to blogging for a long time, and hope to be more consistent with it moving forward. The past few years have been jam-packed with non-stamping activities, from babysitting grand babies to helping my daughter move out of her home, then supporting her emotionally as she goes through the process of divorcing her not-so-nice husband of over 25 years. I won’t get into the sordid details, but just suffice it to say there will be no regret for any of us when the divorce is final. We DO have fun things to look forward to in 2026: two more grand-babies coming in March and June, and a second great-grand arriving in January. We will have a total of 20 Grands and 2 Great-Grands by mid-June!

Today I want to share with you this fun Gingerbread Man card I created back in August for a swap.

This card was fun to create! The die to cut the gingerbread man is actually two of the same outline with a connection at the arms so the piece can be folded to create a shaped card. After heat-embossing the man image on Pecan Pie I cut out the two attached outlines, then attached to a standard card base of 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″. For the inside I stamped the man in Real Red on white, cut him out with just one side of the die, then trimmed him down with scissors. The greeting is from the Jar of Joy stamp set.

Finally, I added a white layer to the back of the card base for the area to add a signature and any other sentiments. I used images from the Jar of Joy Bundle.

Please Hang in There With Me!

Hey there! Just thought I had better check-in with you since it's been awhile since I have posted anything here. NO I have not quit Stampin' Up! YES I am excited about the new catalog coming in May!

So what is going on?

We made the decision in February to have my youngest daughter and her family (hubby and 6 littles, ages 8 months to 9) move in with us while they renovate a home they have purchased. This has been and continues to be a BIG undertaking. I am still working on going through my 20+year crafting stash (Stampin' Up! plus sewing and other craft endeavors), as well as figuring out the best place for everything I am keeping and deciding what to let go. Throw in the day-to-day of cooking, cleaning-up, laundry, etc., for a household which has grown from 3 to 11, and you can probably imagine how busy my days are.

That said, I do have a few things made that I will be posting occasionally over the next few weeks. The Last Chance List from the 2022/23 Annual Catalog has posted, along with the Last Chance List for the January/April Mini Catalog. I will post links for those below.

Stampin’ Up! Sending Fall!

Hey there! If you have been wondering what is going on with my blog, all I can say is right now I'm having a lot of trouble uploading photos to it. I've tried everything I can think of: restarting my laptop, updating my Windows, using my phone's hotspot instead of the house internet, trying to upload at varying times of day; you name it, I've probably tried it! What's really weird though is that I am able to upload and post the standard photos that I add to the bottom of every post, such as my Host Code, where to find the Host Code box in my online store, photos that accompany my monthly specials, SU! specials, etc, but I can't upload and post new photos!

If you are actually reading this post and seeing the Sending Fall card, that means I was able to post the pictures of it! Finally!

Note: After almost a month, I finally found that it wasn't anything I was doing wrong, it was my Blog Host, Typepad, that was having the issues!

I created this card with the Sending Fall Bundle. I've created a card similar to this one but with a spring-like look. You can find that card HERE.

I used the Sending Dies to cut the two the two layers for the word. I cut the solid background from Cajun Craze, then cut the top detail word from Basic White with Adhesive Sheet on the back so all I had to do was remove the backing and it was easy to apply to the background. I adhered the word to a circle I had cut with a Stylish Shapes die from Gold Metallic Paper. I stamped the "birthday wishes" with Mossy Meadow ink on Basic White, then cut with another die from the Sending Dies pack. I finished off the look with a Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dot.

I stamped the background with the Sending Smiles stamps and Cajun Craze, Mango Melody, and Mossy Meadow inks.

I stamped the inside with more images from the front and a sentiment from the Happiness Abounds stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! Amazing Thanks Baby Shower Thank-You!

Hey there! I've been MIA again, but I've been busy, not sick! I've been babysitting for Fiona a lot, and helping throw a baby shower for my soon-to-be 15th grandchild, Wesley Logan. Of course there are birthdays to celebrate almost every month and October is no exception!

Today I wanted to share with you the baby shower thank-you card I designed for my lovely daughter-in-law, Faith, to use to send out in appreciation for all of the gifts she has received at the three showers she has been given, for this much loved and awaited baby boy! Faith is a speech therapist at two local hospitals, so in addition to the shower I helped her mom throw, her work-mates also surprised her with a shower at each hospital.

Wesley's nursery and the shower I helped with both have a safari animal theme, so I used the Elephant Parade stamp set with the Amazing Thanks dies and Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create this:

I tried to keep this card as simple as possible, but you know me, even simple gets a little bit busy most of the time! ha ha!

I started with a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4", then I turned the card to a landscape presentation.

I then cut a layer of Balmy Blue card stock 4 " x 5 1/4". On the right side I stamped the elephants (there are three different ones in the Elephant Parade stamp set) randomly with Balmy blue ink. I adhered the layer to the card front with Stampin' Seal.

I then cut a piece of Basic White 3 1/2" x 5". I laid one of the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks over the white layer, secured with a couple of pieces of Post-It Note Tape (I bought the tape on Amazon), then gently swirled Balmy Blue ink over the mask using a Blending Brush. I cut the finished layer in half at 2 1/2", then added the 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece to the left side of the card front with Stampin' Seal.

I cut a piece each of Smoky Slate and Basic White 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". I added a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the back of the white layer before cutting both with the thanks dies from the Amazing Thanks die set. The solid die cuts a solid outline for the detailed "thanks" word. I removed the backing from the white
thanks word before adhering to the Smoky Slate layer. I adhered to the card front with snippets of stampin' dimensionals. I added a single Heart Pearl as the finishing touch.

Inside I stamped the sentiment from from Flowers of Friendship with Tuxedo Black ink on a 3 1/2: x 5" layer, as well as one of the elephants with Balmy Blue. I adhered this layer to a 4" x 5 1/4" layer of Balmy Blue, then adhered it all to the inside of the card. I stamped the elephant on the front lower left corner of the envelope.

I also stamped another Flowers of Friendship sentiment on the envelope flap and I was done!

Note: to make this card a little bit easier and more safe to mail, when Faith & I sat down to make 80 of these we used Adhesive Sheet on both layer of the die-cut "thanks", and eliminated the stampin' dimensionals and the heart pearl.

I also completed all of the envelope stamping before the shower so we could put an envelope at each seat so the shower guests could fill out their address to make Faith's job a little easier when it was time for her to write the thank-you's.

Stampin’ Up! Pokemon Birthday For Liam!

Hey there! Today is my youngest son's 30th birthday, so I guess I can officially start feeling old! lol! Whether I "feel old" or not, I want to share this Pokemon card I made for my grandson Liam's 10th birthday. Liam is Pokemon crazy right now, along with another grandson, Oakley. They pour over their binders full of Pokemon cards, and were super excited when their Uncle Ben (my 30 year-old baby boy) contributed his vintage Pokemon cards to their collections!

This card won't fit into an envelope, but that was okay because I just had to attach it to his wrapped present!

I started with a standard 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Daffodil Delight card stock, scored and folded at 5 1/2. Then I used my Paper Snips to round the corners for the Pokemon face.

I used the largest leaf die from the Tulips dies to cut both Daffodil Delight an Basic Black to trim and layer together to create the unevenly placed Pokemon ears. I adhered them inside the card with liquid glue.

I used retired circle punches, which will never leave my punch collection to create the eyes and the cheeks. I have the punch sizes listed in the supply list farther down in this post, but don't bother to click on them as they will not take you to that product in my online store because they are retired. I used a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker to hand-draw the nose and mouth. (I googled Pokemon to find an image I could use as my guide)

I stamped the greeting from A Grand Kid with Tuxedo Black ink.

The inside sentiment is also from A Grand Kid.

Stampin’ Up! Ringed with Nature!

Hey there! Today I have a lot going on. I have Fiona today, which always keeps me hopping, but she and her older brother Liam have doctor check-ups and I am taking them. Their doctor is also my doctor (they do not see a pediatrician) so I am familiar with the office and their protocol. (I'm ready in case we still need to wear masks, but I really doubt I will be able to keep a mask on 2 1/2 yr-old Fiona!)

So I just want to quickly share this little card I created while I was working on the cards for my Christmas in July in August Class. This card didn't make the "cut", so I'm the only one who has made it so far, but it did turn out cute!

I used the Ringed With Nature Bundle of stamps and embossing folder/dies, along with Kraft Note Cards & Envelopes, Early Espresso card stock and ink, Kraft 6 x 6 Paper, Real Red, Early Espresso, and Evening Evergreen ink, and Glimmer 12 x 12 Specialty Paper. All of the images and dies I used on this card are from the bundle. I used a Blending Brush to add Early Espresso ink to the card front and the slice of tree stump I stamped the house on before embossing with the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder. The dies I used are also from the Tree Rings Embossing Folder set, although the name is a bit misleading due to only the folder being mentioned in the name. The Evening Evergreen Glimmer Paper I used to cut the leaves and stems to put behind the focal image is more deep green than the bluish-green color in the picture.

Inside I stamped another sentiment from the Ringed with Nature stamp set and cut the layers, just like I did on the front, with the Deckled Rectangles die set.

Stampin’ Up! Kindest Gnomes!

Hey there! Today I have another one of the cards we made at my Christmas in July in August class last weekend. This card was inspired by a swap I received from Laura Milligan with the Kindest Gnomes Bundle of stamps and dies and Storybook Gnomes Designer Paper. It's so cute!

One of the few changes I made from Laura's creation was to cut the gnome's hat and boots from Poppy Parade card stock. On Laura's original she used Calypso Coral, which did coordinate just fine, but the Poppy Parade just POPS more against the Storybook Gnomes Designer Paper print in the background and looks a little bit more "Christmas-y".

I cut 24 packets of each card for my class. I usually let my stampers cut everything out themselves with the Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, but I had Darcy (she's 7) visiting me a few days before class so I had her cut out all of the noses for these adorable little men from Petal Pink card stock. One thing I really like about these dies is the detail they add with the stitching around the hat, the texture to the beard, and the extra touches to the boots! We added a couple of snippets of Balmy Blue & White 3/8" Double-Stitched Ribbon to his hat with glue dots, then cut the ends at an angle to give the look of feathers. A Balmy Blue Fine Sparkle Adhesive-Backed Gem is this finishing touch.

The Poppy Parade-stamped greeting is from Kindest Gnomes, cut with a Seasonal Labels Die.

Inside we kept the stamping simple, with another Kindest Gnomes sentiment and a gnome down in the corner, all in Poppy Parade ink. I of course stamped the envelope!

Hey there! Today I have a pair of cards we will be making at my Christmas in July in August Class this weekend. My stampers will have the choice to make basically the same card, but with two choices of Painted Christmas Designer paper behind the Aspen Tree die-cut Kraft paper layer or to emboss the Aspen Tree die-cut layer with the Timber 3D embossing folder or not! Which one do you prefer?

Here is the un-embossed card. All of the stamped images and sentiments I used are included in the Perched in a Tree stamp set. You can buy the stamps and the dies together in a bundle or buy the stamps and then order other products to total $100 and get the Aspen Tree dies for free! This is a great Sale-a-bration deal, but only while supplies last or until August 31st!

This cute fat birdie is all fluffed out to keep warm in the cold! I added Clear Wink of Stella to him for a bit of shimmer, which of course doesn't show in the picture but looks great in real life!

I added color to the birdie, which is stamped with Soft Suede, using the splotchy stamp included in the Perched in a Tree set. Here are examples of the splotches stamped with full-strength Soft Suede and stamped-off-once Soft Suede. For the finished birdie I used stamped-off-twice Soft Suede before adding the Clear Wink of Stella.

I stamped the greeting with Soft Suede ink on Soft Succulent before cutting out with the larger leaf die-cut from the Aspen Tree Dies. I added a few Champagne Rhinestones for some autumn sparkle!

I cut one more Soft Succulent leaf and rhinestone to finish it all off!

Inside I embossed a Kraft layer with the Timber 3D embossing folder before adding a Soft Succulent layer stamped with another Perched In A Tree sentiment and the branch image with Soft Suede ink.

Here's the alternate sample with the pine cone Painted Christmas background and the Aspen Tree die-cut layer embossed with the Timber 3D embossing folder.

Embossing the layer is an easy but elegant added touch!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Hey there! Today I want to share some bright and cheery swaps with you for Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Let's get started, shall we?

First, Lynn Feldkamp combined the Sweet Cherries Bundle with the Dots & Spots Die (which is a SAB freebie choice when you order $100) :

Next, Heather Guerrero used Stylish Shapes dies, Stitched Greenery die, and Black & White 1/4" Gingham ribbon for her Sweetest Cherries card:

Nikki Barnhart used a little fun-fold for her card, adding Clear Wink of Stella to the cherries and using Real Red 3/8" Mini Ruffled Ribbon.

Linda Cullen added an Artisan Additions die-cut over a strip of Lovely in Linen designer series paper to her Sweetest Cherries card.

Kim Williams used an easel fun-fold with Polished Pink and Flirty Flamingo. 2022-2024 In Color 6 x 6 Designer Paper and Glossy Dots Assortment add some special touches.

Linda Pagel used a Scalloped Contours die to create the ruffled-looking background over the Parakeet Party Stitched Greenery layer.

Ruth Bingle punched the leaves and stems from Parakeet Party In Color Glimmer Paper, and the cherries from the same paper pack in Sweet Sorbet!

This card unfolds in a unique way!

Finally, Stephanie Flath created "black" cherries with Blackberry Bliss card stock and ink!

After stamping, she stamped the cherry again with Versamark and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
