Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day, Swappin’ With the Mams!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day, Swappin’ With the Mams!

Hey there! Today I’m sharing cards from our Yes Mam! Stamper’s Shoebox Swap! For a shoebox swap we bring all of the supplies in a “shoebox”  and then stamp each other’s creations!

First, Angela Black featured the Lemon Zest  set. She used Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, and Whisper White for a citrus-y look. The Lemon Zest set is also bundled with the Lemon Builder Punch. We didn’t use it on this card, be we did on the next one!

Next, Linda Reaney's creation feastured Daisy Delight Bundle. She used the leaf stamp from Lemon Zest and the Lemon Builder Punch to add leaves behind the flower! Punches are a quick and easy way to add depth and texture to your cards.

Angie Lisk  used the Wood Textures Suite. The Bermuda Bay-stamped rooster is cut out with a circle and a square Stitched Shapes framelit,

Stampin_up_wood_words_carolpaynestamps1

Cathy Lingle's seascape with Colorful Seasons, Seaside Textured folder, and a beach umbrella fashioned from a Delicate White Doily! LOVE her addition of burlap ribbon for the “sand”!

Stampin_up_colorful_seasons_carolpaynestamps1

Kari Dillingham used the Petal Garden designer paper with the Floral Statements stamps. It was easy to color with markers and watercolor pencils because the shading is included in the stamped image!

Stampin_up_floral_statements_carolpaynestamps1

Katie Wolters used Pocketful of Sunshine Bundle. I love everything about her card!

Stampin_up_pocketful_of_sunshine_carolpaynestamps1

Martha Swift used the Climbing Orchid Bundle for her charming double-door card:

Stampin_up_climbing_orchid_carolpaynestamps1

Finally, Joanne Cantrell had us make the middle of these Daisy Delight cards. Starting basic:

Stampin_up_daisy_delight_carolpaynestamps1

We made this stepped-up version:

Stampin_up_daisy_delight_carolpaynestamps2

Avid crafter version with emboss resist for the background!

Stampin’ Up! In the City Baby!

Stampin’ Up! In the City Baby!

Hey there! In past years I hardly ever stamped with the Host sets, but this year's catalog has some really good ones! I've already used the Tranquil Tulips for my Open House, and In the City for a wedding card, so it was easy to use it again to make a baby card! Lately I've been making two cards as I make one so I will have a spare I can bear to part with and actually mail! lol! I used the same color combo, Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake, and Shimmery White for today's cards:

Stampin_up_in_the_city_baby_carolpaynestamps1

I again punched Blushing Bride with the Starburst Punch to mount the Crumb Cake stamped house and the Blushing Bride stamped stork. Powder Pink 1/2" Finely Woven Ribbon coordinated perfectly!

Stampin_up_in_the_city_baby_carolpaynestamps2

I accented the "special delivery" In the City greeting with a Blushing Bride flower punched with the Tree Builder Punch.

Stampin_up_in_the_city_baby_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I used "Welcome Baby" from the new Special Celebrations set. I find I'm using this set SO MUCH!

Stampin_up_in_the_city_baby_carolpaynestamps4

Just a simple $150 order is all it takes to be able to choose In the City as part of your Host Rewards. To place your order for Special Celebrations and all of the supplies to make this baby card, go to my online store: http://bit.ly/shopwithCarolPayneStamps

Stampin’ Up! Adapting to Change!

Stampin’ Up! Adapting to Change!

Hey there! One thing I've learned in my 57 years of life: things don't always go the way you plan. You can try to keep things on track, but sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Such was the case yesterday. It was Sunday, which means Sunday Swap Day. Although I have LOTS of swaps made with gorgeous products from the new Annual Catalog, in prepping for my Open House I hadn't taken any pictures of them.

So Sunday came and I had nothing to blog. I made a decision: no blog post, just take care of this day and, taking a line from Darcy's favorite Disney movie, "let it go"!

Letting go is hard for me. Is it hard for you?

Letting go means discarding my expectations of how I think my life should be, how I should perform, how "perfect" I want to think I am. But I've finally realized, and wait for it:    NOBODY'S PERFECT.

Life's too short to worry and stress about little stuff like missing a blog post. My devotional this morning:  "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" (Luke 12:25-26 NIV)

This realization doesn't mean I won't continue to strive to take good care of my family, improve my stamping style, or blog. It means if I miss a blog post now and then, I'm not going to agonize, I'm not going to worry or stress. It will be o.k.

Will I still "bite off more than I can chew" sometimes? Probably. By nature I'm a "tidsoptimst"; I think I have more time to get things done than I actually have.

Will I still sometimes "burn the midnight oil" to get "caught up"? Probably. (On a side note, what does "caught up" really mean? It sounds like I am perpetually behind, which I probably am, but that's negative thinking I don't need)

I guess the point of my ramblings is this: I'm trying to relax my mind, trust God with everything -the big AND little stuff, and keep on stampin' on.

Now, I want to share with you a baby step that was actually a great stride for me:

Stampin_up_just_because_for_mothers_day_carolpaynestamps1

I know! Did you gasp? I wrote in a greeting on a hand-stamped card!

I completely forgot to make a "fresh" Mother's Day card!

Mother's Day morning flipping through my card stash, I decided to adapt this "just because" card:

Stampin_up_just_because_for_mothers_day_carolpaynestamps2

It's not my style to not make a "fresh card". I'm more likely to give no card at all if I haven't freshly made the "perfect" one.

But you know what? It was ok. My MIL's favorite color is purple, she loves butterflies, and at 89, she thinks I print my cards on the computer anyway, so all that mattered was that we gave her a card.

"Strive for progress, not perfection" is a mantra I'm trying to adopt along with trusting God with everything.

Hope my ramblings help you today in some small way.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Nailed It!

Stampin’ Up! Nailed It!

Hey there stamping friends! I'm working on the projects for an upcoming "Guys & Gals" class.

For today's card I used the retiring Nailed It stamp set (still available), retiring Urban District (still available),  Guy Greetings (not retiring), and the now sold-out Build It Framelits:

Stampin_up_nailed_it_carolpaynestamps1

I used a Clear Stampin' Up! envelope to create a "Faux Shaker" card. I added "tools" stamped with Nailed It images and cut with Build It framelits. I also added Gold Sequins pulled from a strand of retiring Gold Sequin Trim. The "ruler" is cut with a Build It Framelit from Silver Foil paper. I stamped the group of tools from Guy Greetings in the background with Smoky Slate ink on Smoky Slate card stock.

Stampin_up_nailed_it_carolpaynestamps3

The greeting is from Guy Greetings stamped with Basic Black on Crushed Curry.

Stampin_up_nailed_it_carolpaynestamps4

The inside phrase is from Urban District. This card is truly a blend of all three sets!

Stampin’ Up! Daisy Delight!

Stampin’ Up! Daisy Delight!

Hey there stampers! Today's card features another new bundle in the upcoming 2017/2018 Stampin' Up! Catalog, Daisy Delight!

Stampin_up_daisy_delight_carolpaynestamps1

I created this card using Whisper White Notecards and Envelopes. They are a quick and easy way to get to the fun part of creating, the stamping! Notecards & Envelopes come in a package of 20 for $6.00. That's 20 pre-cut, pre-scored card bases AND matching envelopes! They are completely mail-able, and starting in the new catalog on June 1st will also come in Very Vanilla!

The Daisy Punch coordinates with Daisy Delight. Both will be bundled in the new catalog to save you 10%!

I punched out two Bermuda Bay daisies, and then added a Whisper White Vellum daisy on top. I finished it off with a new Clear Faceted Gem. Faceted Gems will come in Clear or Gold; you are seriously gonna love them and will need both colors!

Stampin_up_daisy_delight_carolpaynestamps2

I used a small piece of Lemon Lime Twist Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper, added a bit of new Bermuda Bay 3/8" Mini Chevron Ribbon, and stamped the greeting, also from Daisy Delight, with Bermuda Bay.

The inside greeting and tiny row of daisies are also from Daisy Delight. This was another card I created for a swap this month. Before I mailed them I stamped a partial daisy with Bermuda Bay ink three times before re-inking to give depth to the petals.

Stampin_up_daisy_delight_carolpaynestamps3

I'm so sorry to be torturing you with new products you can't order yet, but I'm just so excited about the new catalog and this is what I've been working on!

The Retiring List still has lots of goodies, many which are discounted. You can check those out in my online store: http://bit.ly/shopwithCarolPayneStamps
