Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day August 22nd!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day August 22nd!

Hey there! Here's a fun group of five swaps, all created with Sale-a-bration catalog freebies, for Sunday Swap Day!

First, Shelly Gruber used 3 Sale-a-bration freebies, each from a $50 order, to create her Counting Sheep card. The other two SAB freebies are Sheep Dies, and Penguin Playmates 12" x 12" Designer Series paper.

Stampin_up_counting_sheep_carolpaynestamps1

She used a greeting from All for Baby on the front and a sentiment from Counting Sheep inside.

Next, Laura Barto used Delicate Dahlias SAB freebie to create her fun-fold:

Stampin_up_delicate_dahlias_carolpaynestamps1

This card has plenty of room to write your note!

Stampin_up_delicate_dahlias_carolpaynestamps3

Stephanie Flath used the Penguin Place stamp set with the Checks & Dots embossing folders and 1/4" Black & White Gingham Ribbon for her card front.

It has three layers to convey the cute Penguin Place sentiment:

So cute!

Laura Milligan used Layering Circle Dies to create the focal image of her card, and added 3/8" White Glittered Organdy Ribbon for some sparkle!

Finally, Meg Holland used Hippo & Friends dies, Star Crossed Embossing folder, and Fresh Freesia 3/8" Open Weave ribbon to dress up her card:

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day This Little Piggy!

Hey there! Once again it's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay! Today all of the swaps I am sharing are made with the new This Little Piggy stamp set!

First, Loretta Clem used an image from the Eastern Beauty stamp set to create her Lemon Lime Twist background. The Scallop Tag Topper Punch and some Crushed Curry 3.8" Mini-Chevron Ribbon complement the Blushing Bride-markered piggy!

Stampin_up_this_little_piggy_carolpaynestamps6

Next, the anonymous creator of this little beauty used the Sparkle embossing folder, Stitched Shapes Framelits, Layering Squares Framelits, and Daffodil Delight 1/4" Double-Stitched Ribbon in addition to the happy little piggy!

BJ Peters is the creator of this Brick Wall-embossed piggy!

Stampin’ Up! Lovely Words!

Stampin’ Up! Lovely Words!

Hey there! During my New Catalog Open House one of my customers, Donna, decided to make her wish list into a card. With just a few extra products added to the original packet  she started with this:

Stampin_up_lovely_words_carolpaynestamps1

and then converted to this:

Stampin_up_lovely_words_carolpaynestamps1

Instead of using the"wishlist"banner, she stamped FRIEND by omitting from the phrase "LIFE IS BETTER with FRIENDS" from  Just Add Text, adding a Glitter Enamel Dot.

Stampin_up_lovely_words_carolpaynestamps2

Inside she stamped another Just Add Text  sentiment with Smoky Slate ink, then colored with a Blender Pen using ink squeezed into the ink pad lid.

Stampin_up_just_add_text_carolpaynestamps1

She added a tiny flower with the Tree Builder Punch.

Stampin_up_just_add_text_carolpaynestamps2

I had the You're Delightful Host set on the table, and she chose to stamp "P.S. THAT IS ALL"  at the bottom of the inside.

We also discovered this card will fit into a notecard-sized envelope!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop, June Edition, Celebrating the Men in Our Lives!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop, June Edition, Celebrating the Men in Our Lives!

1800397_10152216696440070_2004070056_n
Hey there! The Stamper's Dozen Blog Hoppers are celebrating the men in our lives! I have one husband, three sons, three sons-in-law, and five grandsons, so I have lots to celebrate!

I have the One Wild Ride set, so I decided to make a pair of easel cards; a Father's Day, and a birthday card:

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps1

I decided to go "old school": no Big Shot or embossing; just stamping and punches. I fussy-cut the motorcycle after stamping with Basic Black Archival ink on a Silver Foil Sheet. Since we no longer have StazOn ink, using Basic Black on something as non-porous as Silver Foil only requires a bit of heating, mostly blowing, with a Heat Tool to dry. I layered onto Basic Black card stock, then fussy-cut again before adhering with dimensionals.

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps2

I used the Classic Label punch on the Teeny Tiny Wishes greeting, and fussy-cut the "Route 66" sign.

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps4

I used the Best Badge to create the "easel stop". I added  silver Metallic Enamel Shapes for  a bit of sparkle.

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps5

I stamped the inside with One Wild Ride images:

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps6

I turned the easel on its' side for the birthday card:

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps7

I combined Best Badge and Classic Label punches for the greeting:

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps8

I punched the "Route 66" signs with the 3/4" Circle punch and matted with a Basic Black 1" Circle.

Stampin_up_one_wild_ride_carolpaynestamps9

Inside I stamped-off a Smoky Slate motorcycle behind a Basic Black Special Celebrations sentiment.

Stampin’ Up! International Blog Highlights: Babies!

Stampin’ Up! International Blog Highlights: Babies!

18814481_1363288057057559_2359774630524859180_o

Hey there! The theme this month is babies, and A Little Wild, and the matching (and bundled) Little Loves Framelits were perfect to create a trio of fun baby bear-themed projects!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps1

For my first project I used the Wood Textures Designer Paper to achieve a knot-hole look for the baby bear to peek out!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps2

I cut the hole with a Layering Ovals Framelit, and the bumblebees with a Little Loves framelit, cutting three bees at the same time!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps3

A Little Wild greeeting:

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps4

Bees & a hive!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps5

Inside:

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps6

The bundle includes the front and back of the bear to stamp as well as a framelit to cut it out.

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps7

I used the Scallop Tag Topper punch to create a tag. Birthday Memories Designer Paper created a great background. The ribbon is Gold 1/4" Natural Trim.

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps8

After stamping and cutting  the front and the back of the baby bear, all I had to do was fold to create a tag!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps9

I stamped and white heat-embossed the bear and the greeting. I stamped another greeting on the tag with Soft Suede before embossing with the Hexagons Dynamic Folder.

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps11

The inside sentiment is from a new favorite set, Special Celebrations.

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps12

My final project is a favor I created with the Wood Crate Framelits, the Hardwood Background, the new Starburst punch, and a baby bear tag!

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps14

The "to:" and "from:" are included in the A Little Wild set, making it extremely versatile for gift tags as well as cards, favors, and invitations.

Stampin_up_a_little_wild_carolpaynestamps15

Now here's the thing. With this blog post I'm in a contest. I would appreciate if you would vote for my projects by clicking this link and voting for me:http://bit.ly/KyliesJuneHighlightsVoteforMeHere

If I'm a top ten finalist I get to participate in a special blog hop with Kylie!

Stampin’ Up! Adapting to Change!

Stampin’ Up! Adapting to Change!

Hey there! One thing I've learned in my 57 years of life: things don't always go the way you plan. You can try to keep things on track, but sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Such was the case yesterday. It was Sunday, which means Sunday Swap Day. Although I have LOTS of swaps made with gorgeous products from the new Annual Catalog, in prepping for my Open House I hadn't taken any pictures of them.

So Sunday came and I had nothing to blog. I made a decision: no blog post, just take care of this day and, taking a line from Darcy's favorite Disney movie, "let it go"!

Letting go is hard for me. Is it hard for you?

Letting go means discarding my expectations of how I think my life should be, how I should perform, how "perfect" I want to think I am. But I've finally realized, and wait for it:    NOBODY'S PERFECT.

Life's too short to worry and stress about little stuff like missing a blog post. My devotional this morning:  "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?" (Luke 12:25-26 NIV)

This realization doesn't mean I won't continue to strive to take good care of my family, improve my stamping style, or blog. It means if I miss a blog post now and then, I'm not going to agonize, I'm not going to worry or stress. It will be o.k.

Will I still "bite off more than I can chew" sometimes? Probably. By nature I'm a "tidsoptimst"; I think I have more time to get things done than I actually have.

Will I still sometimes "burn the midnight oil" to get "caught up"? Probably. (On a side note, what does "caught up" really mean? It sounds like I am perpetually behind, which I probably am, but that's negative thinking I don't need)

I guess the point of my ramblings is this: I'm trying to relax my mind, trust God with everything -the big AND little stuff, and keep on stampin' on.

Now, I want to share with you a baby step that was actually a great stride for me:

Stampin_up_just_because_for_mothers_day_carolpaynestamps1

I know! Did you gasp? I wrote in a greeting on a hand-stamped card!

I completely forgot to make a "fresh" Mother's Day card!

Mother's Day morning flipping through my card stash, I decided to adapt this "just because" card:

Stampin_up_just_because_for_mothers_day_carolpaynestamps2

It's not my style to not make a "fresh card". I'm more likely to give no card at all if I haven't freshly made the "perfect" one.

But you know what? It was ok. My MIL's favorite color is purple, she loves butterflies, and at 89, she thinks I print my cards on the computer anyway, so all that mattered was that we gave her a card.

"Strive for progress, not perfection" is a mantra I'm trying to adopt along with trusting God with everything.

Hope my ramblings help you today in some small way.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
