Stampin’ Up! Pop of Paradise from Jan!

Stampin’ Up! Pop of Paradise from Jan!

Hey there! A few weeks ago I loaned my Pop of Paradise set to my friend, Jan. She loaned me an embossing folder. We plan to get together soon to have lunch and swap back our things, but I was so pleasantly surprised to find this delightful card in my mailbox!

Jan combined Pop of Paradise with Timeless Textures, using Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, and Very Vanilla for her color palette.

She even threw in a bit of Butterfly Basics with the honeycomb image! Everything about this card is very vintage and shabby chic! I love it!

Stampin’ Up! Stamping My Way Through the Catty, Soft Sayings Card Kit!

Stampin’ Up! Stamping My Way Through the Catty, Soft Sayings Card Kit!

Hey there! Have you seen the movie, "Julie, Julia"?  In it Julie cooks every recipe in Julia Child's, Joy of Cooking cookbook and blogs about it every day. This movie inspired me to stamp my way through the 2017/2018 Annual Catalog! I don't own all of the sets, but I do have a lot. Can I do it?

The first stamp set I own from the new catalog is the Soft Sayings Card Kit on page 11. This 15-image set is included in the kit, along with all of the supplies to make 20 cards with envelopes!

Host_Flyer_June2017_US

* Make 20 cards–2 each of 10 designs–using the included Soft Sayings Stamp Set – 15 photopolymer stamps, clear stamp block, 20 printed card bases and coordinating printed envelopes, giftable kraft box, die-cut accents, Stampin' Spot, Baker's Twine, washi tape, Stampin' Dimensionals
* Complete using your choice of adhesive

A wonderful feature of this kit is the Soft Sayings Card Kit Refills you can purchase to make more cards!

The first thing I did when I opened my kit is punch out all of the pieces. There are a BUNCH!

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps1

So far I've made one of each card shown in the kit instructions, but this is only HALF OF THE KIT! I will share the rest of the cards tomorrow, using the remaining embellishments and the same stamps, but adding in a few techniques!

There are three sizes of card bases in the kit. First, the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2":

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps2

Here are some of the cards up close:

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps3

Each card base is pre-printed with a background design, perfectly complementing the greetings and embellishments!

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps4

All I had to do was stamp the greeting, then adhere the greeting and embellishments with Stampin' Dimensionals (included in the kit) and/or Liquid Glue.

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps5

Next, the 3 1/2" x 5":

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps7

Gold Glimmer embellishments add sparkle!

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps8

Most of the pre-printed card bases are soft and muted with the exception of this one, which is a riot of color!

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps9

There's even a single roll of Tranquil Tide-striped washi tape in the kit!

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_card_kit_carolpaynestamps10

You can't get the sparkly die cuts in this kit anywhere else!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day July 9!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day July 9!

Hey there! It's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay!

These first two swaps are created with the new Host set, Background Bits! I love this set!

Carol Slack combined the Garden Trellis Textured Impressions folder with Lemon Lime Twist, Basic Black, and Whisper White. She used a greeting from the new Beautiful Bouquet set.

Stampin_up_background_bits_carolpaynestamps1

Inside she used a sentiment from  Special Celebrations:

Stampin_up_background_bits_carolpaynestamps2

Next, Laura Milligan worked her "white-space magic" with Background Bits, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, and Bermuda Bay!

Stampin_up_background_bits_carolpaynestamps3

Raedean Shibata used the Layered Leaves Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder on the Wild Wasabi card front of this A Little Wild baby card. The baby lion is stamped with Early Espresso on So Saffron, colored with a Blender Pen, then cut out with a Little Loves Framelit.

Finally for today, Susie Wood also used A Little Wild for her swap, combining Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, and Wood Textures Designer Paper:

Stampin’ Up! A Flock of Fabulous Flamingos!

Stampin’ Up! A Flock of Fabulous Flamingos!

Hey there! After the long July 4th weekend  I'm working hard to get back on a working summer schedule!

I played with Fabulous Flamingo stamps, using Glossy card stock (yes, it's back!) and the new Marbled Background to create a flock of cards!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps1

Everything is stamped on glossy with different color backgrounds. The flamingo is a three-step set of stamps. I stamped the body and legs with Powder Pink, the solid body with stamped-off Flirty Flamingo, and body detail with full-strength Flirty Flamingo.

Tempting Turquoise for this card base and the Marbled background. Lemon Lime Twist-stamped leaves.  I used Flirty Flamingo card stock for the layers on all for continuity, and it made it easier to quickly put together  7 cards!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps2

This one has a Soft Sky card base with the Marbled stamped with Soft Sky. Leaves are Pear Pizzazz.

TIP: I experimented with Basic Black Archival and Memento Black ink to see which worked best on Glossy . The Memento ink didn't want to dry at all. It takes awhile for the Basic Black Archival to completely dry, but it started out drier and was less smudge-y. Be careful stamping with any ink on glossy; it's easy to slide your stamp on the slick surface, but oh I LOVE the brilliance of the colors!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps3

While the blue Marbled backgrounds remind me of swirling water, this Pear Pizzazz Marbled makes me think of lush foliage!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps4

The first color I tried was Pool Party. It think it's still my favorite!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps6

After stamping all three layers of the flamingo, the only thing I added was a dot for his eye with my black Journaling Pen.

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps7

Every flamingo needs a bit of bling, so I added three little rhinestones in the bottom corner. Perfect!

Stampin’ Up! Eastern Medallions Daisy Delight!

Stampin’ Up! Eastern Medallions Daisy Delight!

Hey there! I'm battling a mid-summer sinus infection, but I did have a small spark of inspiration yesterday to create with the Eastern Medallion Thinlets and Daisy Delight stamps. I used Lemon Lime Twist, Pool Party, Fresh Fig, Sweet Sugarplum, Powder Pink, and Whisper White.
Stampin_up_eastern_medallions_carolpaynestamps1

I put the layers together with SNAIL, and when the adhesive showed through the medallion openings I sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

Stampin_up_eastern_medallions_carolpaynestamps2

I used all three sizes of Clear Faceted Gems for the flower centers. The flower stems and the greeting are from Daisy Delight. After stamping the flower stems with Lemon Lime Twist on Whisper White, I adhered to the Pool Party layer before embossing with the Garden Trellis folder.
