Stampin’ Up! An Open Heart for a Birthday!

Stampin’ Up! An Open Heart for a Birthday!

Hey there! I used An Open Heart, Kinda Eclectic, and Blessed By God sets, all from the Retiring Stamps list for today's card:

Stampin_up_open_heart_carolpaynestamps1

I stamped An Open Heart birdie with Archival Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla. I stamped the bird again on a Post-it Note, cutting it out to create a mask to cover the bird while I stamped the leaves over it with stamped-off Mossy Meadow ink. Before I removed the mask I also stamped over the bird and leaves with stamped-off Soft Suede ink and the "sandy" stamp from Gorgeous Grunge.

Don't throw away your used Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush! It's hard to tell in here,  but I colored the bird with Soft Suede ink squeezed onto the lid of the pad, picked up and painted on the birdie with the Wink of Stella Brush. The left-over Wink of Stella  gives the bird a subtle shimmer!

Inside I used the same masking technique with the bird, but did not color.

The only difference between today's and yesterday's cards is the Very Vanilla used instead of the Crumb Cake, and I added a Gold 1/8" Ribbon bow instead of the Linen Thread.

Stampin’ Up! Christmas in July An Open Heart!

Stampin’ Up! Christmas in July An Open Heart!

Hey there! The first day of convention was yesterday and the highlight of the morning was the unveiling of the new Holiday Catalog. Oh. My. Goodness. There are no words to explain how fantastically mind-boggling it is. You are going to LOVE  it!

Until I can show it to you, however, you will have to be content with another Christmas in July Class card, this time with the non-Christmas set, An Open Heart. This card was a favorite of many stampers:

Stampin_up_open_heart_1 - Copy

I used the Hardwood background on the stamped layer first. I "stamped off" the Tip Top Taupe ink on scrap paper before stamping on the Crumb Cake card stock, then I stamped the berry branch with Mossy Meadow ink.

Stampin_up_open_heart_3 - Copy

I colored the berries with a Blender Pen and Cherry Cobbler ink just so I could get a little more subtle color than I would if I used a marker. I followed the coloring with just a bit of clear Dazzling Details for a frosted look.

The linen thread is tied in a bow and then added with a glue dot.

I stamped the Christmas phrases from Petite Pairs on the front and inside with Cherry Cobbler ink. I also breathed on the remaining ink on the hardwood and the branch before stamping again on the inside layer.

Stampin’ Up! An Open Heart Tag

Stampin’ Up! An Open Heart Tag

Hey there! Yesterday I realized I hadn't shown you the gift they gave me for speaking at Spring Into Stamping last Saturday:

Stampin_up_an_open_heart_1

I love the Open Heart stamp set. It's one that has been on my "wishlist" for months but I've never gotten around to ordering it. HOW DID THEY KNOW?!

Stampin_up_an_open_heart_2

The creator of this tag added subtle but perfect little details: the circle of Linen Thread for the "nest" and the Essentials Wooden Element heart for the "eggs". Both the bird and the Thank You banner are fussy-cut with Paper Snips.

Although I did not create this tag, I'm definitely CASEing it!

Want to create some tags like this? You can ordering everything in my online store:
