Stampin’ Up! Fabulous Four Thanks!

Stampin’ Up! Fabulous Four Thanks!

Hey there! I just got home from the Spring Into Stamping event in Champaign, IL a few hours ago. After I arrived home I headed back to Mt Vernon to grab the groceries we need for Sunday dinner tomorrow. Now I am home, the groceries are put away and I'm about ready to put myself away for the night too!

My presentation went really well and I received a lot of positive feedback.I feel like it was a day well spent!

I'm really too tired at the moment to post a Sunday Swap Day blog, so I'm just going to share this next card in my Fabulous Four series and call it a night. We will have a Sunday Swap Day on Monday, ok?

Stampin_up_fabulous_four_thanks_1 - Copy

This card uses the same Fabulous Four set and Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper, and a length of Gold Metallic Baker's Twine.

Stampin_up_fabulous_four_thanks_2 - Copy

I continued the diagonal strips of designer paper on the inside, then added a sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts and accent images from Little Sunshine.

That's really all for now. I'm happily worn out for today. Hopefully by the time you read this post I will be waking up from a restful night's sleep!

Here's the supply list for today. You can order everything on the list in my online store: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Up! Dave and Laura, An Owl Anniversary!

Stampin’ Up! Dave and Laura, An Owl Anniversary!

Hey there! Today I have a card for you AND a story!

Once upon a time there was a guy named Dave on a ship bound for Dubai. On the 6th of March would be his 5th wedding anniversary with his wife, Laura. Laura was at home in Chicago, IL. Dave wanted to surprise Laura and make their day special.

What was Dave to do?

Like all other MEN in today's world, Dave went to Pinterest!

On Pinterest Dave found OWL cards, LOTS of cards made with owls. Even owls made with the Owl Builder Punch from Stampin' Up!

What did Dave do?

Dave found THIS card:

Owl anniversary

Dave followed the link on Pinterest until he found my blog. On my blog he found my email contact information.

Dave's email:

Hi,

I saw one of your cards online today, the "Owl Anniversary" card, and I was wondering if it is for sale. My 5th wedding anniversary is coming up and my wife loves owls. Also the colors match our weddings colors.
Thanks,
Dave

I responded to Dave's email and then he responded:

"I live in Chicago and our anniversary is March 6th. Is it possible that you could write a short message in the card for me? Something simple along the lines of "Happy 5th Anniversary, Love Dave." I work on a ship and I am currently on my way to Dubai so I can't actually sign a card but I know she would love this. I saw from the picture on your blog there was an envelope with a green leaf on it as well. Could you write, "Laura" on the front of that envelope then mail that inside a USPS, UPS, etc envelope?"

How could I ever turn this sweet hubby down? I re-created the card using current and some retired Stampin' Up! products, then mailed the card to Laura in time for it to arrive for their anniversary:

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_1

I mailed it inside a manila envelope inside a Priority mailer so it would be more of a surprise (and so the leaf decorating the outside of the envelope would not get caught in the machines at the P.O.)

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_2

Instead of "Happy Anniversary" I used "happy together" from A Dozen Thoughts since it was an card from a husband to his wife.

Stampin_up_a_dozen_thoughts_3

I checked in with Dave after the date had passed, and he reported Laura received the card on time and loved it! yay!

So there's the story. I felt so honored that of all the cards on Pinterest, Dave chose my card to commission to be sent to his wife.

Pretty amazing, isn't it?

I also want to thank Dave for giving me permission to tell his story here and for allowing me the opportunity to help make his wedding anniversary a little more special for his wife.

It's times like this that make me so glad I'm a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, and makes the hours I spend creating and posting my cards here and on Pinterest, all the more rewarding.

Snail mail. It's not a thing of the past. At least not yet!

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! All Abloom Herringbone!

Stampin’Up! All Abloom Herringbone!

Hey there. On the stage at Leadership, Shelli Gardner reminded us of a fun technique using Washi Tape called "herringbone". I had almost forgotten about it again until I found a herringbone example by Peggy Gilbert online today. I almost couldn't CASE her creation fast enough I was so in love with it!

Here's my version using the All Abloom Designer Paper Stack:

Stampin_up_all_abloom_1 - Copy

Believe it or not, I DID NOT CUT ANY OF THESE STRIPS to make this card! I had all of these strips in my scrap stash I keep with each designer paper pack! This card went together so fast, it took longer to decide which stamps to use than anything else! This technique is perfect for all of those little scrap/strips you just hate to throw away!

Mossy Meadow is the green color in this paper, so I used that color for my card base, and then used a bit of Mossy Meadow twine (from the new In Color Accessory Pack that is one of the new offerings as a free Sale-a-bration item this month) to glue-dot a  tiny bow on top of the Melon Mambo button from the Brights buttons pack.

Stampin_up_all_abloom_2 - Copy

Inside I did cut the four strips to edge the 3 3/4" x 5" Whisper White layer because I needed 1/4" wide strips to leave room for the sentiment from the Simply Wonderful Sale-a-bration set.

That's it for today. I'm adding the supply list below to help you when you are shopping in my online store: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/carolpayne/

Stampin’Up! Mixed Bunch with Blendabilities!

Stampin’Up! Mixed Bunch with Blendabilities!

Hey there! How's your week going? It's Wednesday, isn't it? I have a party tonight in Carbondale. Here's a card we will be making using Mixed Bunch, A Dozen Thoughts, Million & One, and Blendabilites markers:

Stampin_up_mixed_bunch_1 - Copy

I embossed two Mixed Bunch blooms with white embossing powder on Basic Black cardstock, colored one with a Pumpkin Pie Blendability, colored the other with a Cherry Cobbler Blendability, punched both with the Blossom punch, then layered them with a Glue Dot in the center.

I made a paper clay button with my Buttons & Blossoms Simply Pressed Paper Clay & Molds. I colored the button with a Daffodil Delight Blendability marker, then attached to the flower center with Tombow glue.

IMG_6298 - Copy

Inside I stamped the Million & One sentiment with Memento ink and added a few blendability-colored flowers to coordinate with the card front:

Stampin_up_mixed_bunch_3 - Copy

That's it, pretty simple card. Paper clay buttons need about 24 hours to dry before using, but just a little forethought is all it takes to get a little pile ready for class!

Stampin’ Up! Blended Bloom!

Stampin’ Up! Blended Bloom!

Hey there! My newsletter is going out later today with new Weekly Deals and Christmas in July info, including a tutorial/tip to simplify using the Flower Fair Framelit and Flower Patch stamps. If you don't receive my newsletters, sign up on my sidebar NOW!

Today's Brenda Keenan inspiration uses the Blended Bloom single stamp, which was designed with Blendability alcohol markers in mind. When it took longer than anticipated for Blendabilities to become available, we had to find alternate techniques to use with this stamp. The Blendabilities ARE available to order now, but I love this technique using Sponge Daubers:

Stampin_up_blended_bloom_1 - Copy

I heat-embossed with white powder on Shimmery White cardstock first. Using a sponge dauber, Daffodil Delight ink is applied with a soft, circular motion to the bloom's center first, then Coastal Cabana is applied around the Daffodil Delight, allowing the inks to overlap a bit. Finish with Island Indigo around the outer edges, overlapping the Coastal Cabana. Cut out with Paper Snips before mounting on the Large Polka Dot-embossed layer. Flower Frenzy Bigz L leaves tuck behind the blooms. Greeting is from A Dozen Thoughts.

Stampin_up_blended_bloom_3 - Copy

Inside the same inks plus Old Olive stamp images from Sassy Salutations and Garden Party.

That's all for now. Come back tomorrow for another color combo with this set!
