Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves!

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves!

Hey there! Just a quick post this morning before all of the crazy starts. We are having our family Thanksgiving today, so I have a turkey breast and a honey ham cooking! Alisa was here yesterday to make pumpkin & pecan pies, and the rest of the dishes will be made in a little while. We are also taking our annual family picture today, so lots to do!

I received these two cards in my last swap, and since the Thanksgiving weekend isn't over yet I decided to wasn't too late to share!

First, Jan Rodrian stamped, watercolored with Stampin' Blends, and then cut out the Vintage Leaves oak leaf with the coordinating Leaflets Framelit Dies. She layered onto a piece of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper, then adhered it as a flap to a design from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps3

Just lovely!

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps4

Lift the flap t find a greeting from Best Birds and acorns stamped with the Painted Harvest set. This card would be perfect for the outdoorsman in your life!

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps5

My second card to share to day is by Jenna Raby and also features the Vintage Leaves and Leaflets Framelits. Jenna used a technique called "Distressed Direct to Paper" to achieve the splotchy-coppery look on the leaves. She embossed her Chocolate Chip background with the Woodland Textured Impressions Folder. She also heat-embossed a copper edge to the Chocolate Chip layer!

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps1

Her greeting starts with a label frame from Labels to Love, heat-embossed with Copper powder on Cajun Craze card stock. She added a greeting from Gourd Goodness with Early Espresso ink.

Stampin’ Up! Hardwood Watercolor Bokeh!

Stampin’ Up! Hardwood Watercolor Bokeh!

Hey there! I voted today,  and this is the first time ever I have cried and prayed in the voting booth, but  God is good all the time!

I've been playing around with the Bokeh technqiue a bit lately:

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps1

Hardwood background stamped with Early Espresso on Crumb Cake, layered on an Early Espresso card base. A Watercolor Words greeting.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps2

Starting with watercolor paper,I stamped a Vintage Leaves leaf with Early Espresso, heat-embossed the greeting with white powder. Spritz the whole piece lightly with water. Used my AquaPainter to apply full-strength Cajun Craze and Daffodil Delight reinker in random splotches. Dried with a Heat Tool. I laid a template punched with circle punches of varying sizes to sponge Whisper White Craft ink for the Bokeh look. Removed the template, added a few more random sponge dauber circles.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps3

I heat-set the ink before layering on an Early Espresso mat.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I used another sentiment from Watercolor Words and stamped the same Vintage Leaves leaf with Daffodil Delight ink. I used a splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge to add the Cajun Craze scatter of ink.

The bokeh technique is so much fun, you will probably want to try it! Find and order your supplies from my online store: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Words for a Fall Birthday!

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Words for a Fall Birthday!

Hey there! Today I'm going shopping with my 9-months-pregnant daughter, Alisa. She has a few little things she still wants to find for her new (and first!) daughter. She's due on Sunday, so not much longer to wait!

I created today's card with Watercolor Words, Vintage Leaves, and another one of the Seasonal Decorative Masks in the Holiday catalog. This was one of those cards that when I finished it, I was like, "meh", but when I go up this morning and saw it with "fresh eyes", I liked it!

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps1

I used a Sponge Brayer to apply Soft Sky ink through the paisley decorative mask. I applied the ink more boldly in the center, then used less ink around the edges for a softer look. It was quick and easy to use the mask and the brayer to decorate the envelope flap.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped-off Cajun Craze ink on the leaf before stamping over the sponged paisley to keep with the softer background look.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped the Watercolor Words greeting with Island Indigo, then added a few gold sequins to give this flat card a bit of sparkle.

Stampin_up_watercolor_words_carolpaynestamps4

I sponged with the mask again for the inside and used a Grateful Bunch sentiment.

A pretty simple card! Go to my online store to get your supplies: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop September Edition, Cards That MOVE!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop September Edition, Cards That MOVE!

Hey there! It's time for the September edition of the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop! yay!

1797524_10152216933805070_1250170996_n

Our theme this month is cards that move. You will be amazed at the varied and inspiring samples we have to share!

For my project I decided to use one of my favorite card folds, the Window Card. I wanted a fall theme, so I used Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper and Vintage Leaves.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps1

I pulled out Thoughts & Prayers for the sentiments. Fall colors work well for a sympathy card.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps2

This fun fold provides a lot of options to add sentiments, much more than the usual book-fold style card, but really doesn't take much more card stock.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps3

I also used the coordinating Leaflets Framelits to cut out the window and the leaves. Sponging with Early Espresso ink adds contrasting dimension.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps4

To make sure I placed the greeting leaf correctly through the window, I folded the card closed, then added dimensionals to the inside fold before placing the leaf.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps5

I stamped-off Cajun Craze ink for the leaf, then stamped the sentiment with Early Espresso.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_carolpaynestamps6

I finished off the front by tying Kraft Rope Trim. After I knotted the ends I frayed it using a Paper-Piercing Tool.

Here's the supply list for my card. You can order all the supplies from my online store: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Hey there! This weekend was super-busy with Trick-or-Treaters on Friday, a Vendor Fair on Saturday, and a family gathering on Sunday. No time to think or blog!

I have one last set of fall swaps to share today!

First, Rose Marie Coleman used Vintage Leaves, Hardwood Background, and a greeting from For All Things for her creation:

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_1

Next, Kristin Kortonick also used Vintage leaves and the Hardwood Background, but by choosing Sahara Sand and Whisper White she achieved a completely different look!

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_2

Kristin also added the Watercolor Wash background on the Sahara Sand layer to give it a little more color and a textured look. She cut the leaves with the Leaflets Framelits. I love her touches of adding a vellum leaf, pearls, and Silver Thread!

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_3

Patty Chenail also used Vintage Leaves and For All Things sets, choosing to use the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder for her background:

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_4

Finally, Linda Pagel used  the Acorny Thank You set with the matching Acorn Builder Punch for her swap. The Large Polka-Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is the perfect background for all of the little polka-dots on the Designer Series Paper, Decorative Dots-embossed white circle, and the top of the acorn!

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Work of Art!

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Leaves Work of Art!

Hey there! I had a request for a fall birthday card, so I stamped up this up with Vintage Leaves, Work of Art, and Watercolor Wishes:

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_1 - Copy

I absolutely LOVE Cajun Craze for fall! Embossing the front with the Zig Zag Textured Impressions folder was perfect! I stamped Vintage Leaves with Early Espresso, adding splashes of color with the "swoosh" from Work of Art with Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Mossy Meadow ink.

My greeting and inside sentiment are both from the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit. This stamp set is ONLY available as part of the kit, which includes pre-prepped supplies to create 20 card with envelopes. This kit is perfect for the new stamper just trying out stamping, and makes a great gift.

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_2 - Copy

I sponged the Into the Woods Element before adding with a glue dot. (I wasn't very patient. I didn't blot the element before attaching, hence the smudges of Early Espresso on the card, lol!)

Stampin_up_vintage_leaves_3 - Copy

Inside I repeated the same stamping combo using a couple of the other brushstroke stamps from Work of Art. This card was easy for my stampers to create at Sue's party Friday night!
