Stampin’ Up! Year in Review for a Happy New Year!

Stampin’ Up! Year in Review for a Happy New Year!

IHey there and Happy 2018! I have my "Stampin' in the New Year" Birthday Card Stamp a Stack starting this morning, but before everyone arrives I want to finish up my "year in review" for 2017. Today I'm starting with July 2017 and working my way to the end of the year showcasing my favorite creations from the year!

First, I combined the Eastern Medallions Thinlets Dies with the Daisy Delight stamp set to create this bold-but-soft thank you card. Here's the link to the July 3rd post: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/07/stampin-up-eastern-medallions-daisy-delight.html

I stamped a flock of Fabulous Flamingos for this blog post: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/07/stampin-up-a-flock-of-fabulous-flamingos.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c908f1f5970b-450wi

This Swirly Bird Christmas card was my favorite one we made at my Christmas in July class! Check it out here: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/07/stampin-up-swirly-bird-christmas.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301bb09ad5bad970d-450wi

Another favorite Christmas card I created was with the Carols of Christmas set. This set is retiring and will no longer be available after tomorrow! Here's the blog post link: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/07/stampin-up-carols-of-christmas.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c90b415d970b-450wi

I CASED this card from an old swap using the Grown with Love Bundle. See the full post HERE.

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c912c299970b-450wi

I used Sheltering Tree with the Sheet Music background stamp to create the sympathy card found HERE.

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c9140511970b-450wi

I combined High Tide with the Colorful Seasons Bundle to create the Double z-Fold card in this blog post: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/08/stampin-up-colorful-seasons-double-z-fold.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c91698b2970b-450wi

In August I had the privilege of presenting at a stamping meeting of demonstrators in Champaign, IL. This ornament was my last-minute inspiration, Night in Bethlehem with the Cracked Glass technique! Read all about it HERE.

6a00e54f70aa80883301b8d2a7ee48970c-450wi

A favorite-but-retiring bundle from the Holiday Catalog, Christmas Quilt! I used Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, also retiring January 2nd, with the Cat Punch (not retiring) to create this easel card. Find more details HERE.

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c9283ff5970b-450wi

I explored an oldie-but-goodie technique, Faux Silk, in THIS POST with the Count My Blessings set:

6a00e54f70aa80883301b8d2b3fd4b970c-450wi

I used the Painted Harvest set (which is not retiring) to create this adorable hedgehog Christmas card. Get all of the info here: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/10/stampin-up-painted-harvest-christmas-hedgehog.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b8d2b6b34f970c-450wi

Smitten Mittens is another retiring bundle I had fun playing with! Check out one of the three cards I created with this set HERE.

6a00e54f70aa80883301b8d2b935a9970c-450wi

As you have probably figured out by now, I love techniques! I used the Direct Stamping on your embossing folder technique for this card with the retiring Season Like Christmas set. Check it all out here: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/11/stampin-up-woodland-season-like-christmas.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b7c932d044970b-450wi

I also like trying new folds, like the bridge fold I used with this card using the Season Like Christmas set: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/12/stampin-up-season-like-christmas-bridge-fold.html

6a00e54f70aa80883301b8d2c5a0b1970c-450wi

Finally, my newest favorite set, Petal Palette. We will be making this card today at my Stampin' In the New Year Birthday Card Stamp-a-Stack. Go HERE for more details.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day November 19th on Monday the 20th!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day November 19th on Monday the 20th!

Hey there! We celebrated two birthdays yesterday! Two of my sons have birthdays this week;  Troy's birthday was yesterday and Logan's is on Wednesday. With both of their birthdays so close to Thanksgiving (Logan was born the day before Thanksgiving) their celebrations have sometimes gotten lost in the shuffle of the holidays. We decided to not let that happen this year!

This is a good group of cards, so let's get started!

First, a lovely Carols of Christmas swap featuring the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Marbled Background. Silver Glimmer paper, Silver Sequin Trim, and Rhinestone Basic Jewels add fun sparkle. This card was created by Cathy Miller.

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

Next, an Eclipse technique Christmas card using the Large Letter Alphabet Framelits and Christmas Pines stamps. Created by Landa Cartwright

Stampin_up_christmas_pines_carolpaynestamps1

"to the world" is from Hearts Come Home.

Stampin_up_christmas_pines_carolpaynestamps2

Carol Slack sponged a background of Pool Party and Dapper Denim, then subtly stamped snowflakes with Whisper White Craft ink. She cut the houses and church with the Hometown Greetings Edgelits, the tree with a Card Front Builder Dies. She added little pieces of So Saffron card stock behind the windows to make light "shine" through. The greeting is from Star of Light in the Annual Catalog.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps1

Lovely as a Tree has been in the catalog since before I became a demonstrator over 15 years ago, but it's still a favorite of just about everyone! The creator of this easel card stamped the Night of Navy card base with the Sheet Music background, then heat-embossed the tree with white powder on vellum. This card could easily be a luminaria; all it needs is a battery votive inside!

Stampin_up_lovely_as_a_tree_carolpaynestamps1

Silver 1/8" ribbon, a Foil Snowflake, and rhinestones add sparkle. The greeting is from Christmas Quilt.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day September 24!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day September 24!

Hey there! It's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay! Let's jump right in and get started!

First, an anonymous creator used the Paisley Framelits to cut Tranquil Tide  and Fresh Fig pieces to create the  the medallion. A Fresh Fig-stamped Better Together greeting coordinates well.

Stampin_up_better_together_carolpaynestamps1

She stamped the center with a Paisleys & Posies image using Fresh Fig ink, then cut with a Paisley Framelit.

Next, Rebecca Prather cut out her falling leaves with a Seasonal Layers Thinlet, then embossed the Colorful Seasons greeting with Copper Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Stampin_up_colorful_seasons_carolpaynestamps1

She also cut a Copper Foil mat for the greeting with a Stitched Shapes Framelit. This gives the look of a metal-edged tag!

Lyssa Zwolanek created her masterpiece with the Lemon Zest set:

Stampin_up_lemon_zest_carolpaynestamps

Veronica Cordry's creation with the Lovely Friends and Oh so Eclectic sets. Love the Berry Burst/Whisper White/Basic Black combo!

Stampin_up_lovely_friends_carolpaynestamps1

Karen Kurz' creation with the Text Ya Later set. With 59 photopolymer stamps, you can make endless combinations!

Finally, Amy Bell started with the Sheet Music background stamped on Dapper Denim with Dapper Denim ink. She used a Pattern Party Mask to add Embossing Paste in a medallion design. She then sprinkled Copper Embossing Powder over the embossing paste and heated with the Heat Tool.

A few strategically placed pearls add elegance.

Stampin_up_sheet_music_carolpaynestamps2

"Just a Note" from the Soft Sayings Card Kit was stamped on vellum, and then anchored with a medallion created with 1/4" Copper Trim.

Stampin’ Up! Sheet Music Sheltering Tree!

Stampin’ Up! Sheet Music Sheltering Tree!

Hey there! I used the masking technique with Sheet Music and Sheltering Tree to create this pair of sympathy cards:

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps1

I tore a piece of paper and then adhered it over the Whisper White layer with washi tape. I inked the Sheet Music stamp with Basic Gray ink, stamped it off on scrap paper before stamping over the  masked white layer. Leaving the torn-paper mask on the layer, I used a Sponge Brayer to roll first Soft Sky and then Pear Pizzazz over the Sheet Music image. The Sponge Brayers contain two handles and four sponge rollers, allowing you to sponge with 4 different colors before rinsing any of them out with water. I keep my sponges stored in labeled baggies with the color they have been rolled in. At only $8 for four sponges and two handles, I can afford to dedicate the sponges!

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps2

After stamping and brayering, I removed the paper mask and then stamped the tree with Basic Black ink.

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I stamped a Thoughts & Prayers sentiment with Marina Mist ink and sponged the edges with Pear Pizzazz.

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps4

My second creation was constructed in the same manner.

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps5

I love the look of Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz brayered side by side!

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps6

I stamped the Sheltering Tree greeting stamped on a 3/4" wide banner strip.

Stampin_up_sheltering_tree_carolpaynestamps7

I used more Thoughts and Prayers sentiments on the inside:

Stampin’ Up! Sheet Music Seasonal Bells!

Stampin’ Up! Sheet Music Seasonal Bells!

Hey there! I ordered the Seasonal Bells stamp set too late before last Christmas to get a good chance to play with it. I’m glad it carried over to the new catalog!

For my Christmas in July card today I combined Seasonal Bells with Sheet Music Background, Pool Party, Smoky Slate, and Whisper White. I embossed the Pool Party panel with the Sparkle Textured Impressions folder and used Bermuda Bay ink and ribbon for that “pop” of color almost every card needs!

Stampin_up_seasonal_bells_sheet_music_carolpaynestamps2

After embossing one bell with Versamark and silver Stampin’ Emboss Powder , I stamped a second bell on Pool Party with Bermuda Bay ink then quickly sprinkled with Clear Stampin’ Emboss Powder and heat embossed. If you work quicky you CAN emboss in any color of Stampin’ Up! ink! I punched both with the Bell punch. Bermuda Bay 3/8” Mini Chevron Ribbon anchor both bells to the card front, while Stampin’ Dimensionals provide hidden support!

Stampin_up_seasonal_bells_sheet_music_carolpaynestamps3

After using a Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Write Marker to ink a portion of the “Best Wishes” image, I stamped the curly top & bottom frames on white, then added “NOEL” with the Labeler Alphabet. After punching with the Pretty Label Punch, I punched again from both Pool Party and Smoky Slate.  I cut each in half long-ways to add behind the greeting. Two rhinestones add a bit of bling.

Stampin_up_seasonal_bells_sheet_music_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I stamped-off the Basic Gray-inked Sheet Music image twice before laying the white layer on the rubber and gently tapping my fingers over it. I finished  off with the Seasonal Bells image “Happy Christmas”,  stamped in Bermuda Bay.
