Stampin’ Up! Year in Review for a Happy New Year!

Stampin’ Up! Year in Review for a Happy New Year!

IHey there and Happy 2018! I have my "Stampin' in the New Year" Birthday Card Stamp a Stack starting this morning, but before everyone arrives I want to finish up my "year in review" for 2017. Today I'm starting with July 2017 and working my way to the end of the year showcasing my favorite creations from the year!

First, I combined the Eastern Medallions Thinlets Dies with the Daisy Delight stamp set to create this bold-but-soft thank you card. Here's the link to the July 3rd post: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/07/stampin-up-eastern-medallions-daisy-delight.html

A favorite-but-retiring bundle from the Holiday Catalog, Christmas Quilt! I used Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, also retiring January 2nd, with the Cat Punch (not retiring) to create this easel card. Find more details HERE.

As you have probably figured out by now, I love techniques! I used the Direct Stamping on your embossing folder technique for this card with the retiring Season Like Christmas set. Check it all out here: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/11/stampin-up-woodland-season-like-christmas.html

I also like trying new folds, like the bridge fold I used with this card using the Season Like Christmas set: http://www.carolpaynestamps.com/2017/12/stampin-up-season-like-christmas-bridge-fold.html

Stampin’ Up! A Flock of Fabulous Flamingos!

Stampin’ Up! A Flock of Fabulous Flamingos!

Hey there! After the long July 4th weekend  I'm working hard to get back on a working summer schedule!

I played with Fabulous Flamingo stamps, using Glossy card stock (yes, it's back!) and the new Marbled Background to create a flock of cards!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps1

Everything is stamped on glossy with different color backgrounds. The flamingo is a three-step set of stamps. I stamped the body and legs with Powder Pink, the solid body with stamped-off Flirty Flamingo, and body detail with full-strength Flirty Flamingo.

Tempting Turquoise for this card base and the Marbled background. Lemon Lime Twist-stamped leaves.  I used Flirty Flamingo card stock for the layers on all for continuity, and it made it easier to quickly put together  7 cards!

This one has a Soft Sky card base with the Marbled stamped with Soft Sky. Leaves are Pear Pizzazz.

TIP: I experimented with Basic Black Archival and Memento Black ink to see which worked best on Glossy . The Memento ink didn't want to dry at all. It takes awhile for the Basic Black Archival to completely dry, but it started out drier and was less smudge-y. Be careful stamping with any ink on glossy; it's easy to slide your stamp on the slick surface, but oh I LOVE the brilliance of the colors!

While the blue Marbled backgrounds remind me of swirling water, this Pear Pizzazz Marbled makes me think of lush foliage!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps4

The first color I tried was Pool Party. It think it's still my favorite!

Stampin_up_fabulous_flamingo_carolpaynestamps6

After stamping all three layers of the flamingo, the only thing I added was a dot for his eye with my black Journaling Pen.

Every flamingo needs a bit of bling, so I added three little rhinestones in the bottom corner. Perfect!
