Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin Peaceful Christmas Coordination with Peaceful Place Suite!

Stampin’ Up! Paper Pumpkin Peaceful Christmas Coordination with Peaceful Place Suite!

Hey there! Today my cards were created with the October Paper Pumpkin kit, "Peaceful Christmas". The fall and Christmas kits are my favorites of the year!

Peaceful Christmas contained everything needed: pre-printed card bases, lovely silver-embossed Shaded Spruce envelopes, stamps, ink, twine, and embellishments to make 10 cards, 5 each of two different designs! These cards came together in a snap!

The silver-embossed (foiled) envelopes are pretty enough to cut up and turn into card elements too!

I loved the font of this "Merry Christmas", and the glittery, snowy-looking gems are perfect with the snowy  background!

Each card making stamp set includes sentiments for the outside and the inside!

The second design in the kit included this lovely Shaded Spruce Buffalo Check designer paper layer, as well as pre-cut vellum trees and silver "Noel". Everything was assembled with the included adhesives: mini glue dots and stampin' dimensionals.

Inside I used another sentiment from the kit, then stamped the tiny evergreens with the included Shaded Spruce ink.

This kit is no longer available to order, but it coordinated with the existing "Peaceful Place" Suite from the July-December 2021 Mini Catalog!

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place at the Country Club!

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place at the Country Club!

Hey there! Today's card is going to a special guy I've loved literally all my life; my big brother, Don. Don is truly my BIG brother in every way. 6' 3", and 18 years older, he tells the story when I was born at the beginning of his Senior Year. He went to football practice that evening and the guys thought he was joking when he mentioned he had a brand-new baby sister! Don joined the Navy when I was less than a year old, so my first vivid memory of him was after he discharged and came home to live with us. He took me with him to the barbershop where they gave me a sucker. Thankfully it was one of those "safety suckers" because when I started to choke, he leaped from the scissors to pluck the sucker out of my throat! My mother passed away 3 weeks before my 11th birthday, a victim of her own vice, smoking. She had both lung cancer and an inoperable brain tumor (in 1970), and my brother and his wife helped with my care during my mom's multiple hospital stays. To say I was close to my brother growing up would be putting it mildly!

Next Saturday is his 79th birthday. He lives in a retirement apartment with his wife and is blind from diabetes complications. He calls me almost every day, so I keep him up-to-date with all of the goings-on in my family. I created this card especially for him!

An avid outdoorsman, I wanted to use Peaceful Place for his card. I paired it with Country Club Designer Series paper, for a masculine look!

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place With Burnt Edges

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place With Burnt Edges

Hey there! I was MIA yesterday because I was very under-the-weather. I won't go in to all of the details, but I am on the mend now!

The card I'm sharing today came about as the result of almost non-existent mojo. When that happens I usually go way back to basics I learned when I first started stamping. Today's card features two techniques you hardly ever see anymore, "tearing" and "sponging".

The Garden Lane Designer Series Paper was still near my crafting space, so I pulled out one  of the prints that looked like the leaves were stamped with gold or Soft Suede. I chose a Soft Suede card base and Very Vanilla for my color palette.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps1

After stamping the trees by the creek with Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla, I tore around the image, tearing the card stock toward me so I would get lots of layered edge. I then sponged it heavily with Soft Suede ink. Besides "sponging", this is sometimes called "burnt edges" because the sponged edges do kind of look like you held it next to a burning match!

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps3

I used the same tearing and sponging technique with the greeting.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps5

I added a retiring Designer Element to the lower right corner.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps6

I used a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to only ink "thinking of you" from the sentiment, "Thinking of You with Gratitude for your Part in my Journey" to stamp on the inside sentiment layer. Sponging does get your fingers messy, so sometimes you end up sponging a little more than you planned just to cover up inky fingerprints! lol.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day Best Catch!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day Best Catch!

Hey there! It's Sunday again, so you know that means it's time for me to share some swaps! Today I have a couple of masculine swaps to share with you created with the Best Catch Bundle of stamps and framelits in the Occasions Catalog.

Sharon Tong-Robinson combined Best Catch Bundle with the Peaceful Place stamp set for her swap.

Stampin_up_best_catch_carolpaynestamps1

After stamping the fish (trout?) with Early Espresso, Sharon sponged Cajun Craze and Old Olive  for a "fishy" look! See that fishing creel and cattails? They are part of the Best Catch Bundle too!

Stampin_up_best_catch_carolpaynestamps2

How cute is this fisherman? The sentiment is also from Best Catch!

Stampin_up_best_catch_carolpaynestamps3

Emily Tull combined Best Catch with High Tide for her swap:

Stampin_up_best_catch_carolpaynestamps4

Emily added a REAL HOOK to her creation! I didn't even know tiny hooks this size existed! What kind of fish are they used for to catch?

Stampin_up_best_catch_carolpaynestamps5

After Emily colored her fish with Stampin' Blends Markers, she added a few swipes of Clear Wink of Stella to complete the look of fishiness!
