Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place With Burnt Edges

Hey there! I was MIA yesterday because I was very under-the-weather. I won't go in to all of the details, but I am on the mend now!

The card I'm sharing today came about as the result of almost non-existent mojo. When that happens I usually go way back to basics I learned when I first started stamping. Today's card features two techniques you hardly ever see anymore, "tearing" and "sponging".

The Garden Lane Designer Series Paper was still near my crafting space, so I pulled out one  of the prints that looked like the leaves were stamped with gold or Soft Suede. I chose a Soft Suede card base and Very Vanilla for my color palette.

After stamping the trees by the creek with Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla, I tore around the image, tearing the card stock toward me so I would get lots of layered edge. I then sponged it heavily with Soft Suede ink. Besides "sponging", this is sometimes called "burnt edges" because the sponged edges do kind of look like you held it next to a burning match!

I used the same tearing and sponging technique with the greeting.

I added a retiring Designer Element to the lower right corner.

I used a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to only ink "thinking of you" from the sentiment, "Thinking of You with Gratitude for your Part in my Journey" to stamp on the inside sentiment layer. Sponging does get your fingers messy, so sometimes you end up sponging a little more than you planned just to cover up inky fingerprints! lol.
