Stampin’ Up! Comfort & Hope!

Stampin’ Up! Comfort & Hope!

Hey there! Sympathy cards are not my favorite thing to make, but I had to make two this past weekend, so I want to share this card with the Comfort & Hope stamp set today and I will share the other one soon.

I just received the Dry Brush Background stamp a couple of weeks ago from the One-Day stamp sale, but I've been so busy playing with designer series paper that I almost forgot about it!

Stampin_up_comfort_&_hope_carolpaynestamps1

As with just about any card I make that I know I'm going to be giving one away, I make two. One of these will go in the mail tomorrow. I combined three sets to make this card with a bit of a masculine feel: Comfort & Hope,  Dry Brush, and Swirly Frames.

I used Misty Moonlight,  Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla for my color combo. I used the largest smooth and the largest scalloped Layering Circle Dies to cut the layers.

Stampin_up_comfort_&_hope_carolpaynestamps2

I added a multi-loopy bow to the  edge of the circle with a glue dot.

Stampin_up_comfort_&_hope_carolpaynestamps3

I used the Swirly Frames circle on the front focal image and this swirly circles from the Comfort & Hope stamp set inside.

I love this sentiment: "sending you a paper hug"!

Stampin’ Up! Label Me Pretty!

Stampin’ Up! Label Me Pretty!

Hey there! I spent a big chunk of my day yesterday babysitting for Liam, Darcy, and their baby sister, Fiona, and then grocery-shopping for myself, and two of my daughters. One of the daughters is currently 3 days past her due date with grandchild #12, so I have been getting her groceries for almost this entire time of shelter-in-place. If the pregnancy is like her first four, she will most likely be at least 2 weeks over due, which means I have 11 days left to get my ducks in a row before I disappear for the next two weeks while I help with the new baby! eeek!

I created today's card with the soon-to-be-retired Label Me Pretty stamp set and also retiring Bird Ballad Laser-Cut Cards:

Stampin_up_label_me_pretty_carolpaynestamps2

This card came together so quickly! After adhering a layer of Early Espresso under the lacy card front, I then inked the center of the greeting with Early Espresso and Pool Party markers. After stamping on Very Vanilla I stamped the floral brackets with Early Espresso and then punched with the Pretty Label Punch. I added a mat behind the greeting label punched from Pool Party, as well as a couple of gold Metallic Pearls. I created a "faux ribbon" from a 1/4" wide strip of Pool Party embossed with the Subtle 3D embossing folder.

Stampin_up_label_me_pretty_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I used a sentiment from the retiring Annual Catalog set, Kindness & Compassion.

Stampin_up_label_me_pretty_carolpaynestamps7

The Pretty Label Punch is NOT retiring, but Label Me Pretty, Kindness & Compassion, and the Bird Ballad Laser-Cut cards & Tin will be gone after June 2nd.

Stampin’ Up! Flourishing Phrases Sympathy

Stampin’ Up! Flourishing Phrases Sympathy

Hey there! Another retiring set I'm sad to see go is Flourishing Phrases and the coordinating Flourish Dies. It's actually one of only two remaining wood-mount sets in my stash, and the other one, Label Me Pretty, is retiring too! Wood-mount was the way all of my stamps were mounted when I started stamping 18 years ago. There were no photopolymers or cling-mounts back then, just good 'ol red rubber mounted on wood blocks! I was hesitant to convert to cling mount and photopolymer, but gradually I did.  I still love the feel of that wood block in my hand! Everything changes (except for the Lord who never changes) and now I love my cling and photopolymer!

Wood block

For my card today I used Flourishing Phrases to create a sympathy card with Mint Macaron, Shaded Spruce, and a stenciling technique.

Stampin_up_flourishing_phrases_carolpaynestamps2

After stenciling with Mint Macaron ink on the Mint Macaron card stock, I ran it through my embossing machine in the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

Stampin_up_flourishing_phrases_carolpaynestamps4

I added a few Frosted Flower Embellishments to the greeting punched with the Label Me Fancy punch.

Stampin_up_flourishing_phrases_carolpaynestamps5

This set makes it so easy to create a sweet card for sympathy, wedding, congratulations, just a note, thank you, and hello!

Stampin_up_flourishing_phrases_carolpaynestamps6

So many of the supplies I used for today's card are retiring and will be gone forever after June 2nd, so don't delay!

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place With Burnt Edges

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place With Burnt Edges

Hey there! I was MIA yesterday because I was very under-the-weather. I won't go in to all of the details, but I am on the mend now!

The card I'm sharing today came about as the result of almost non-existent mojo. When that happens I usually go way back to basics I learned when I first started stamping. Today's card features two techniques you hardly ever see anymore, "tearing" and "sponging".

The Garden Lane Designer Series Paper was still near my crafting space, so I pulled out one  of the prints that looked like the leaves were stamped with gold or Soft Suede. I chose a Soft Suede card base and Very Vanilla for my color palette.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps1

After stamping the trees by the creek with Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla, I tore around the image, tearing the card stock toward me so I would get lots of layered edge. I then sponged it heavily with Soft Suede ink. Besides "sponging", this is sometimes called "burnt edges" because the sponged edges do kind of look like you held it next to a burning match!

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps3

I used the same tearing and sponging technique with the greeting.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps5

I added a retiring Designer Element to the lower right corner.

Stampin_up_peaceful_place_carolpaynestamps6

I used a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to only ink "thinking of you" from the sentiment, "Thinking of You with Gratitude for your Part in my Journey" to stamp on the inside sentiment layer. Sponging does get your fingers messy, so sometimes you end up sponging a little more than you planned just to cover up inky fingerprints! lol.

Stampin’ Up! Highland Heather Painted Glass!

Stampin’ Up! Highland Heather Painted Glass!

Hey there! I am so impressed and thrilled by how easily all of the products from the Painted Glass Suite work together! Although I've stretched out the four cards I've created (so far) over four blog posts, I actually whipped these up quickly once I started playing. The Graceful Glass  Designer Vellum did most of the work for me!

I embossed a layer of Highland Heather with the new Tufted Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder for an elegant look as a background for a sympathy card:

Stampin_up_painted_glass_carolpaynestamps1

After coloring the back side of the vellum with Light & Dark Rich Razzleberry, Light & Dark Old Olive, and Dark Pool Party Stampin' Blends, I adhered to the white strip with glue dots. I cut Silver Foil with a Stained Glass Thinlet, cut it in half, then attached behind the flower strip to create an easy-but-intricate frame.

Stampin_up_painted_glass_carolpaynestamps2

I backed the sentiment with a bit of Silver Foil. Both are punched with the Everyday Label.

Stampin_up_painted_glass_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I used a Flourishing Phrases sentiment and colored the stamped Painted Glass medallions with the same Stampin' Blends.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Tuesday with Southern Serenade!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Tuesday with Southern Serenade!

Hey there! Next Saturday I'll be presenting at a Stampin' Up! OnStage event in Atlanta, Georgia! Exciting, nerve-wracking, and LOTS of samples to prep! I'm working on my display samples, so I'm sharing more swaps today. (Don't worry, you WILL get to see my OnStage samples AFTER the event. I am bound by a Stampin' Up! Confidentiality Rules for now)

I don't own Southern Serenade from the Occasions Catalog, so I was happy to get a few samples to share!

First, an anonymous stamper spongeed Crumb Cake through an oval mask before stamping the blooms and coloring with Rich Razzleberry & Old Olive Stampin' Blends. The greeting is from the Annual Catalog set, Better Together.

Stampin_up_southern_serenade_carolpaynestamps1

Next, Cathy Miller used a Flourishing Phrases greeting with Marina Mist and Very Vanilla, embossing a strip of Marina Mist with the Petal Burst Textured Impressions Folder and adding touches of silver accent:

Stampin_up_southern_serenade_carolpaynestamps2

The lace background stamped in Marina Mist is also from Southern Serenade!

Stampin_up_southern_serenade_carolpaynestamps3

Susie Wood used the Black Magic technique, coloring the blooms and leaves with Stampin' Blends after heat embossing with white powder.

Stampin_up_southern_serenade_carolpaynestamps4

Finally, Mary Lang used Brusho Crystal Colours with spray starch and plastic wrap to create this gorgeous background using Touches of Texture instead of Southern Serenade:
