Stampin’ Up! The Wilderness Awaits for Mark!

Stampin’ Up! The Wilderness Awaits for Mark!

Hey there! I should have posted this card yesterday in my Father's Day post, but I hadn't taken the pics yet, so here it is for today!

As soon as I saw "The Wilderness Awaits" set in the new catalog I knew I wanted it for Mark's Father's Day card. The "Admired, respected, loved . . . , that's you" phrase perfectly describes my husband, so I had to have it!

I used my current favorite card layout, the slider pop-up!

Stampin_up_the_wilderness_awaits_2 - Copy

The wood paneling layer is from the Farmer's Market Designer Series Paper. I stamped off the elk for the central image and on the paneling layer. Tip Top Taupe was perfect to sponge on the Very Vanilla. I also sponged a bit of Soft Sky around the outside edges of the elk.

This card had lots of creative spaces for all of the family to sign!

I laid the Expressions Natural Element directly on my Early Espresso inkpad, then quickly dried it with my Heat Tool:

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop Manly May!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop Manly May!

Hey there! It's not May 15th yet, but we decided to have the hop early this month because several of the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop members will be in Hawaii for the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip on the 15th. Today we we have a manly theme to help you get ready for Father's Day and all of those guy birthdays coming up! When you are finished hopping through all 13 blogs, you will have LOADS of ideas!

If you are already on the hop, you've just come from Stella MacKay's blog, Stellar Stamps!

If you are just starting the hop, don't worry, just keep following the "next" link at the bottom of every post and you will get around to Stella in no time!

I found inspiration from Stampin' Success, a magazine just for Stampin' Up! Demonstrators. I used the Guy Greetings stamp set and the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack with Kraft, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and Basic Gray card stock. All ink is with the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad.

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_cards_1 - Copy

The magazine suggested using a Take Out Box for the shirt box, but I didn't have one on hand so I made my own box with the Envelope Punch Board. The Bow Builder Punch made the perfect bow tie to go with the shirt and "vest"!

That's all for now, but be sure to come back tomorrow!  I will start showing you each card inside and out!

Stampin Up! Guy Greetings!

Stampin Up! Guy Greetings!

Hey there! It's Friday, yay!

Today I used Guy Greetings in the Occasions Catalog. (Don't let the catalog picture fool you! Not all images are shown actual size. In the catalog they look tiny except for the few shown full size, but they are ALL full size!) It's also one of those "all inclusive" sets. With images AND words, you don't need another set to make a great card!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_1

I stamped the car image with Early Espresso ink, stamping again, and again, "huffing", not blowing, my breath on the stamp each time to re-moisten the remaining ink to get the lighter images. I stamped a piece of Typset Specialty Designer Series Paper, but you could use the same technique with plain Very Vanilla card stock to get the "custom designer paper" look!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_3

My brother's birthday is coming up in May. He doesn't read my blog, so maybe this will be his card?

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_2

Guy Greetings comes in wood-mount, clear-mount, and photopolymer. Photopolymer lets you see through the clear blocks for exact image stamping. Photopolymers are also flexible; you can bend and curve them as you stamp. Sometimes, however, you DON'T want the stamp to curve.  My solution is to lay the stamp along one of the lines on my grid sheet, image-side down, straightening the stamp as needed. I then press my clear block on top of the stamp to attach.

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_4 - Copy

I get straight words every time!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_5 - Copy

The final technique I used is the "Motion Stamping" technique, which is very similar to the "Stamp and Huff" technique I used on the custom designer paper panel. To get the look of motion, I stamped the card with full-strength Early Espresso on the far left, huffed, then stamped again in the middle with the car overlapping the first stamping about a third of the way, then huffed and stamped a final time behind but overlapping the second stamping. I've used this technique for years with cars, bicycles, balls, and horses, but it's A LOT easier with the clear photopolymers!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day on Monday!

Hey there. I've been helping Kimberly with baby Darcy, so my weeks have just been flying!

I tried this  post yesterday on Sunday afternoon, but unfortunately my daughter lives way out in the "sticks" so her internet is crummy. Now it's Monday morning when her internet is at its' best, so we'll see!

First, an elegant swap from Teri Wells. Teri used  Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand, and Soft Sky with touches of Whisper White for her swap:

Stampin_up_something_lacy_1

Up close you can see the detail from the Something Lacy background stamp, as well as the White Jute Ribbon and Sahara Sand 7/8" Lace Trim:

Stampin_up_something_lacy_2

Here's the shopping list for Teri's card. Click on any image and you can go to my online store to order:

Next a masculine card using Guy Greetings from Lorraine Duran:

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_3

Up close the Rhinestones Basic Jewels were colored with the darkest of the Skin Tone Blendabilities:

Here's the supply list to shop in my online store:

Banner Punch

$12.95

Lastly, another masculine card by Denise Sullivan:

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_1

I love all the pattern choices in the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, and the Basic Metal Button and thread pulled from the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon give this card an "Industrial" look:
