Stampin’ Up! Simple Stems!

Stampin’ Up! Simple Stems!

Hey there! Things have been pretty hectic around here the past few days, so much so that I finally sat down tonight and stamped something new:

Stampin_up_simple_stems_1 - Copy

I love the Simple Stems set in the Occasions Catalog, and this flower that I stamped with Melon Mambo ink in particular. Isn't it just gorgeous?

My color palette is Basic Black, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, and Melon Mambo, very fresh, lush, and spring-y!

Stampin_up_simple_stems_2 - Copy

I used sentiments from Blessings from Heaven inside and out.

Stampin_up_simple_stems_3 - Copy

I stamped and fussy-cut my favorite blossom with Melon Mambo on Very Vanilla. I added the tiniest pearls to the center of the bloom and randomly in the greeting.

Stampin_up_simple_stems_4 - Copy

I stamped the blossom on a piece of scrap paper, then cut it out with my Paper Snips to create a mask to cover the bottom row of stamped blossoms before stamping the second row. I put a bit of 2-way glue on the back of my mask, then let it air-dry to Post-it-Note consistency so I could cover, stamp, then remove the mask so it wouldn't harm my creation.

That's all for now. It's really late (1 a.m), so if I want to have any brains for my stamping tomorrow I had better get to bed!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

French Foliage, Torn Masking, Blessings From Heaven, Summer Starfruit

Sharing one of the techniques we used at my recent "Wonderfall" Card Bonanza earlier this month, "Torn Masking"! This was a swap I received at Founder's Circle Retreat in September. Unforutnately, I have lost the creator's name! (I think it may have been France Martin?) But it's beautiful and I LOVE the technique, it's both easy and elegant!

Gratitude 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Here's how you do it:

Cut a piece of scrap paper the same size as the layer you will be stamping on. In this case I started with a piece of Very Vanilla 4" x 5 1/4", so I cut my scrap paper the same size. I tore the paper in half down the middle. Nothing fancy, just tore toward myself in a fairly straight line.

Gratitude 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I applied 2-way glue to the back sides of the scrap paper and let it air dry for a few minutes. 2-way glue air-dries to Post-It Note consistency, hence the reason it is called "2-way"! I didn't coat the back with glue, I just put a few quick strokes with the 2-way glue pen on there. I added the two strips of scrap paper over the Very Vanilla layer, leaving a space open between the strips as shown below. I started with Summer Starfruit ink and applied it to the open area using a "swirling" motion with my Stampin' Sponge instead of the usual "dab or flick". (See how swirly it looks?)

Gratitude 4
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I continued adding swirls of ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Tangerine Tango, swirling the colors of ink and blending them into each other to get a "gradiation of color"!

Gratitude 5
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Next, I added stamping, using the gorgeous set, "French Foliage" and Early Espresso ink! The little scripty-phrase behind the leaves is also from "French Foliage" and was stamped with Crumb Cake!

Gratitude 6
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Finally, I removed the scrap paper masks and voila!

Gratitude 7
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I used my Adhesive Remover to take off a little dab of the 2-way glue that had stuck itself onto my card front, easy-peasy!

I threaded a piece of "Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon" through the holes of a "Brushed Bronze" Button and attached it and a greeting, "gratitude" from "Fabulous Phrases" that had been cut out with a "Bitty Banners" Framelit with a couple of Glue Dots!

Stampin’Up! Forever Young!

Stampin’Up! Forever Young!

I was asked to do a presentation about "what I do" for a church ladies group last week, and I was honored to do it! This group has a different presentation each month, and obviously have a really good time learning new things! They've even tackled making a basket, a project that I understand took 4 months to complete, so I took some time to think through how I wanted to start them out with a little taste of "Stampin' Up!

I decided to take lots of display samples, including some of my scrapbooks, catalogs, and all the usual what-not. For the two cards I promised them I chose "Forever Young" as one of the sets I wanted to showcase:

Forever young 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Seems like alot going on here, but I wanted a basic-yet-pleasing card that would feature techniques that don't require alot of bells and whistles to achieve a good outcome! We used basic stamping with Staz-on Black ink, Twitterpated Designer Paper, a masking technique, and sponging. The greeting is from "Language of Friendship", one of the free stamp sets in the Sale-a-bration Mini!

Here's the inside:

Forever young 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I used the "Just Believe" flower clump stamp in here because of its' beautiful silhouette image that carries through the theme from the card front. I also chose "Blessings from Heaven" because it continues the thought from the outside greeting. A perfect "thinking of you" card!

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by. I will return tomorrow with the second card from this class!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!
