Stampin’Up! Forever Young!

Stampin’Up! Forever Young!

I was asked to do a presentation about "what I do" for a church ladies group last week, and I was honored to do it! This group has a different presentation each month, and obviously have a really good time learning new things! They've even tackled making a basket, a project that I understand took 4 months to complete, so I took some time to think through how I wanted to start them out with a little taste of "Stampin' Up!

I decided to take lots of display samples, including some of my scrapbooks, catalogs, and all the usual what-not. For the two cards I promised them I chose "Forever Young" as one of the sets I wanted to showcase:

Seems like alot going on here, but I wanted a basic-yet-pleasing card that would feature techniques that don't require alot of bells and whistles to achieve a good outcome! We used basic stamping with Staz-on Black ink, Twitterpated Designer Paper, a masking technique, and sponging. The greeting is from "Language of Friendship", one of the free stamp sets in the Sale-a-bration Mini!

Here's the inside:

I used the "Just Believe" flower clump stamp in here because of its' beautiful silhouette image that carries through the theme from the card front. I also chose "Blessings from Heaven" because it continues the thought from the outside greeting. A perfect "thinking of you" card!

That's all for today. Thanks for stopping by. I will return tomorrow with the second card from this class!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

A wonderful customer/friend was unable to attend one of my workshops recently and requested I post the projects we made, so here's to you, Ruth!

This first card I believe I have shown you before, as it was one of my Leadership swaps! It's a quick and easy card, but a favorite by all!

and the inside (both the inside and the outside words are from the Occasions Mini set, "Bring on the Cake"!

This next card using the can-be-free with a $50 order SAB set, "Punch Bunch" is a CASE of a swap I received at Leadership! It showcases the yummy "Concord Crush" and "Pear Pizzazz" color combo perfectly! "Happy Birthday" is from "Curly Cute" on page 149 of the Big Catalog.

Inside we stamped words and images from "Party Hearty" from page 54 of the Big Catalog!

We learned a "faux watercoloring" technique with this card. We inked the largest flora image from "Just Believe" from page 109 of the Big Catalog with Blushing Bride, So Saffron, and Soft Suede Stampin' Write markers, then misted them with a water spritzer! I CASED  and tweaked this card from Sandie Conner on Mary Fish's blog.

The inside we stamped with the fun "live, laugh, love, happy birthday" from "On Your Birthday" on page 153 of the Big Catalog! We also used the Eyelet Border punch and the "Beautiful Wings" embosslit with the Big Shot for all the butterflies! They are attached to the project with Mini glue-dots!

This last project was CASED and tweaked from Sandi MacIver. I purchased her tutorial for making these gorgeous "floating reinker" roses last year, and decided to revisit this technique for this workshop. Thanks, Sandi, for so many great ideas with this set and technique! We used the "Fifth Avenue Floral"stamp set, (found on page 122 of the Big Catalog) heat embossing the large rose with White embossing powder on Shimmery White cardstock. We spritzed the embossed flower heavily with water, then touched an aquapainter to an inkwell of Pink Pirouette ink refill and touched it to the wet cardstock. We "watercolor washed" the flower all over with the Pink Pirouette, then went back with Regal Rose ink refill on our aquapainter and added Regal Rose highlights. Every rose came out different, some were very soft, and some were very vivid! We stamped the greeting with "happy birthday!" from the Level 2 Hostess set, "Something to Celebrate!" in the Occasions Mini! We also used the "Blossom Petals" punch for the rose leaves. We creased them down the center of each leaf, then sponged the Pear Pizazz cardstock with Old Olive.

Deb McCahan used markers on the backside of "Fifth Avenue Floral" white embossed vellum for this "happy" card! This is really a WOW in person! Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, and Pacific Point make a great spring combo!

Diane Tritz used the frame stamp from "Just Believe" on page 109 of the Big Catalog as her focal point for this cheery card. She added distressed flowers punched with the "Itty Bitty Shapes" punch pack, and mounted it all on a Whisper White "Finial Press" Textured Impressions background. She also used "Sunny Garden" Designer Series Paper behind the focal point.

Karen Kurz used scallop die-cut "Sweet Stitches" fabric from the Occasions Mini to create this flower, which is actually a detachable pin! This card would make a great birthday or Mother's Day card! The flower stem is from the "Sweetheart" stamp set on page 58 of the Big Catalog, the buttons along the bottom are from "Button, Button" in the Occasions Mini, and the button in the flower's middle is a "Sweet Stiches" Designer Big Button, also found in the Occasions Mini!
