Stampin’ Up! Torn Masking and French Foliage!

Stampin’ Up! Torn Masking and French Foliage!

Today's sample is from my February swap stash. This card was made by Sherri Beyrer and reminds me of the card I showed you back in October 2012 here.

Beautiful card, isn't it? And even though I usually think of French Foliage as a fall stamp set, it works perfectly for the "masculine" theme of last month's swap! I especially love the additional leaf she cut out and attached (it's covered in Crystal Effects although you can't tell from this photo) and how she embossed the whole top  layer with the Woodgrain Folder after she was finished with the torn masking and stamping.

That's all for today! I'm swamped this week with end-of-Sale-a-bration parties 4 out of the 5 weekdays this week, then I'm off with my downline to the Stampin' Up! St. Louis Regional this Saturday! I need to get some swaps made, so hopefully I will have some new creations to share with you soon! And after Saturday I will have some swap board samples AND fresh swaps to share!

Don't forget! You can go to my website any time, night or day, to order Stampin' Up! products:

www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

If you order before Friday at midnight you will receive the three tutorials to create fun 3-D items using the Simply Sent Happy Hello Kit FREE from me! This freebie is for everyone who orders from me Online, no matter the size of the order! (but remember, for every $50 you order through Friday you can also choose a free Sale-a-bration item too!)

So until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

French Foliage, Torn Masking, Blessings From Heaven, Summer Starfruit

Sharing one of the techniques we used at my recent "Wonderfall" Card Bonanza earlier this month, "Torn Masking"! This was a swap I received at Founder's Circle Retreat in September. Unforutnately, I have lost the creator's name! (I think it may have been France Martin?) But it's beautiful and I LOVE the technique, it's both easy and elegant!

Here's how you do it:

Cut a piece of scrap paper the same size as the layer you will be stamping on. In this case I started with a piece of Very Vanilla 4" x 5 1/4", so I cut my scrap paper the same size. I tore the paper in half down the middle. Nothing fancy, just tore toward myself in a fairly straight line.

Gratitude 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I applied 2-way glue to the back sides of the scrap paper and let it air dry for a few minutes. 2-way glue air-dries to Post-It Note consistency, hence the reason it is called "2-way"! I didn't coat the back with glue, I just put a few quick strokes with the 2-way glue pen on there. I added the two strips of scrap paper over the Very Vanilla layer, leaving a space open between the strips as shown below. I started with Summer Starfruit ink and applied it to the open area using a "swirling" motion with my Stampin' Sponge instead of the usual "dab or flick". (See how swirly it looks?)

Gratitude 4
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I continued adding swirls of ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Tangerine Tango, swirling the colors of ink and blending them into each other to get a "gradiation of color"!

Gratitude 5
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Next, I added stamping, using the gorgeous set, "French Foliage" and Early Espresso ink! The little scripty-phrase behind the leaves is also from "French Foliage" and was stamped with Crumb Cake!

Gratitude 6
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Finally, I removed the scrap paper masks and voila!

Gratitude 7
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I used my Adhesive Remover to take off a little dab of the 2-way glue that had stuck itself onto my card front, easy-peasy!

I threaded a piece of "Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon" through the holes of a "Brushed Bronze" Button and attached it and a greeting, "gratitude" from "Fabulous Phrases" that had been cut out with a "Bitty Banners" Framelit with a couple of Glue Dots!
