Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Dragonflies!

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic Dragonflies!

Hey there! I created today's card for my Dragonfly Dreams class this weekend, and I love it, but after I finished it I realized that although it does have dragonflies on it, I didn't use Dragonfly Dreams at all!

This card is very flat. I can't exactly call it a "one layer" card because there are two layers on top of the Rich Razzleberry card base, but it's very flat and easily mailable!

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_carolpaynestamps1

I combined Awesomely Artistic with Big on Birthdays using the Collage stamping technique.

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_carolpaynestamps2

Rich Razzleberry card base, Sweet Sugarplum layer, followed by the stamped Whisper White layer that I sponged the edges with Sweet Sugarplum ink.

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_carolpaynestamps3

Both the Dragonflies and the bunch of blossoms are stamped with Sweet Sugarplum. I "stamped-off" the blossom bunch on my grid paper before stamping on the layer to get the lighter shade.

After stamping the Big on Birthdays greeting with Basic Black Archival ink, I added Mint Macaron leaves and splatters stamped with stamped-off Sahara Sand finish off the front.

Inside follows the same drill.

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop, April Edition, Carryover Stamps!

Stampin’ Up! Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop, April Edition, Carryover Stamps!

Hey there! It's time for the April Edition of the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop! This month we are using Carryover sets that will be in the new Annual Catalog, beginning June 1st, but you can still order them now too!

1723402_10152213035905070_85588169_n

I decided to use Dragonfly Dreams for my hop project!

Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps1

I combined embossing folder "stamping"and triple time stamping with the Dragonfly Dreams Bundle. My card is inspired by Lavinia Gruizinga.

Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps2

To "stamp" with an embossing folder: rub the raised side of the folder directly with your inkpads. Starting at the bottom of the folder, I applied Emerald Envy, Wild Wasabi, Bermuda Bay, and Tempting Turquoise. I then spritzed iberally with water before putting the Shimmery White layer directly on the inked surface and gently pressing and smoothing with my fingers. NOTE: this is an inky, messy technique, so you may want to wear protective gloves!

  Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps6

After holding the paper on the folder for a few extra seconds to allow the ink to absorb, remove and set aside to dry for several minutes or speed up the drying  with a Heat Tool. You will know the paper is dry when it is flat again.

Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps8

You can usually get two card fronts from each inking of the folder as long as you spritz again with water in between. No two fronts will ever look the same!

Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps3

I white heat embossed the sentiment from Dragonfly Dreams. The Rhinestones are now retired and sold out, but don't worry, there will be a new configuration of Rhinestones and Pearls in the next catalog!

Stampin_up_fluttering_dragonfly_dreams_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I inked Stylized Birthday and the Awesomely Artistic dragonfly with the same colors using the Baby Wipe technique to ink the stamps.

Stampin’ Up! Swallowtail Meets Awesomely Artistic!

Stampin’ Up! Swallowtail Meets Awesomely Artistic!

Hey there! I'm getting REALLY close to finishing all of the projects for the Birthday Card Buffet next weekend! Today's card is another from the pile:

Stampin_up_swallowtail_1 - Copy

I combined the Swallowtail background with Awesomely Artistic!

The Soft Suede card base is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4".

The Very Vanilla card body is 4 1/8" x 10 3/4", scored at 5 3/8".

My ink colors are Pool Party and Soft Suede.

Stampin_up_swallowtail_2 - Copy

Bermuda Bay Thick Baker's Twine coordinates beautifully with the Pool Party-stamped Swallowtail. Sponging with Soft Suede and stamped-off water splotches lends a vintage feel.

Stampin_up_swallowtail_3 - Copy

Inside I used a phrase from Banner Blessings and a "happy birthday" from And Many More along with Awesomely Artistic.

This card is a mix of red-rubber wood-mounted stamps and photopolymer. You can barely tell that I re-stamped the "FRIEND . . ." phrase twice. Only with close-up inspection can you see a slight blur on the Proverbs 17:17 reference. Because it is photopolymer you can re-stamp if you need to!

Stampin_up_swallowtail_4 - Copy

I used the Brick Wall Textured Impressions Folder to give the card front a "garden wall":

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_brick_wall_1 - Copy

After stamping the floral image with Elegant Eggplant ink, I used a Blender Pen to spread around the ink for soft color. I used the same Blender Pen to color the leaves with ink squeezed onto the lid of the ink pad.

I stamped the floral onto crumb cake before embossing with the Brick Wall folder, and on the "ledge".

I highlighted the blooms with a tiny bit of Gold Dazzling Details.

For today's card I inked my clear acrylic block with three different inks; Pool Party, Island Indigo, and Night of Navy; spritzing with water before stamping over the image I clear heat embossed on Watercolor Paper:

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_lost_lagoon_1 - Copy

It takes a while to dry, so I used my Heat Tool ti dry faster. The water dilutes and runs the ink together a bit. Cool! I added the gold embossed spatters after drying.

I punched the card fold with my 1/4" Circle Handheld Punch then wrapped the Whisper White 1/4" Cotton Ribbon around the card.

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic for August Online Class!

Stampin’ Up! Awesomely Artistic for August Online Class!

Hey there! Today I'm sharing the first of three cards for the August Online Class.

This month is Awesomely Artistic. A Kraft cardstock base,  cut with the Circle Card Thinlet Die is just the right tone to go with the Old Olive gingham plaid from Farmer's Market Designer Series Paper pack. Clear embossed florals on Very Vanilla "pop" when sponged with Old Olive ink, an "Emboss-Resist" technique!

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_1 - Copy

I punched Kraft Corrugated paper with the flower from the Tree Builder Punch, adhered with a glue dot with looped Gold Metallic Thread behind and topped with a Pearl Basic Jewel.

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_2 - Copy

Flip the card to the Petite Pairs sentiment, stamped in Blackberry Bliss and masked with a 1 1/4" Scallop Circle punched Post-It Note. I clear embossed the floral image over the mask and sponged Old Olive ink, then removed the mask.

Stampin_up_awesomely_artistic_3 - Copy

Fully open shows a sentiment from All Boxed Up, another emboss-resist floral, and the dragonfly inked with Stampin' Write Markers.
