Stampin’ Up! Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin’ Pad & Evergreen!

Stampin’ Up! Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin’ Pad & Evergreen!

Happy Halloween Everyone! What are you doing for Halloween? I am going to decorate the back of my van this evening for a "Trunk or Treat" event at my church's parking lot! I have to get my decorations from last year out of storage today and get my costume together. I'm going as a Pirate, a Puss-n-boots Pirate!

The stamping task for the boot camp I am participating in listed this week's requirement as CASEing a technique from a Stampin' Up! resource. As a demonstrator, I have access to many different resources to help me plan my workshops, classes, and events. A bi-monthly magazine, Stampin' Success, is just one resource, but it's a great one! In the October issue, which we receive in September, they featured an article about using Shimmer Paint directly on our stamps. I took that article idea and instructions and translated it into using the Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad from page 23 of the Holiday Catalog instead of the Shimmer Paint!

For the center focal image, I stamped the solid tree image from the Holiday Catalog set, "Evergreen" in Garden Green ink on the Garden Green cardstock, then inked the open tree image with the Glimmer pad and stamped over the first tree. I maybe should have used my Stamp-a-majig to line up the images perfectly, but since I used the Clear-mount version of this set, I got a pretty good match anyway!

On either side of the focal image I had stamped the same tree with the same ink but did not re-ink the stamp to get a lighter, in-the-background look to them. I breathed on the stamp before stamping on the paper to reactivate and remoisten the leftover ink. I tried the same breathing technique with the Glimmer ink on the open stamp before stamping over the background trees, and it worked! Yay!

After I had stamped the solid trees on the card base with the same Garden Green ink I cleaned my stamp on my Stampin' Scrub, then inked this image with the Glimmer ink and stamped over the trees. I like this effect too! The star image is also part of the Evergreen set.

I cut out the focal image with an Apothecary Accents Framelit Die and my Big Shot. To achieve the larger Brushed Silver layer, I simply traced around the outside of the framelit with my Simply Scored Stylus and hand-cut it out with my Paper Snips. Easy-peasy!

The inside of the card is pretty straightforward:

Stampin’ Up! Rock n’ Roll Ornament Keepsakes!

Stampin’ Up! Rock n’ Roll Ornament Keepsakes!

I love the "Holiday Frame" embossing folder in the Holiday Catalog, and I love pairing it with the Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and the Holiday Ornament Framelits! This card is one we will be making at my Punch/Technique Classes in November, so I thought it would be good to share it with you all now!

The "Rock n' Roll" Technique is an easy one, but so pretty! You start with your lightest color, in this case Tempting Turquoise, and ink the entire stamp with that color. You do not stamp your paper yet. Instead, you ink just the outer edges of the same stamp with a darker color, this time Island Indigo. In order to ink all the outer edges, you will "rock n roll" the edges in an almost circular motion on the inkpad. After you have "rock n' rolled" all the edges, then you stamp your image on paper. Voila! A gorgeous, two-toned look!

Note: Be sure to clean your stamp on your Stampin' Scrub before inking the stamp in your lightest color of ink again!

"Merry Christmas" greeting is from "Petite Pairs", punched out with the Modern Label Punch.

A Basic Jewel Rhinestone adds just the right touch of bling!

Stampin’ Up! Brayered French Foliage!

Stampin’ Up! Brayered French Foliage!

As I promised some time ago, here is the second technique we used at my "Wonderfall" card bonanza with the "French Foliage Stamp set:

French foliage 2

©Stampin' Up!™1990-2012

This is a CASE of another Founcer's Circle swap. The theme was easy, two-layer workshop-ready cards and they were really great!

To create this card:

Cut 4 strips of scrap paper 5 1/4" x 1". Put 2-way glue on the backside and allow glue to air-dry to Post-It-Note consistency. After glue is dry, lay first two strips along edges of layer to be stamped on, lining up outer edges of strips with edges of layer:

French foliage 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Add last two strips along top and bottom of layer as shown, lining up outer edges of of strips with outer edges of layer:

French foliage 4
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Ink brayer in color of choice (for this sample I used Always Artichoke). Roll brayer over cardstock layer in the open area left inside the scrap paper strips. Roll brayer back and forth, over edges of scrap paper, adding more ink to brayer as needed. You will probably need to brayer up and down, then back and forth to get smooth, even coverage.

French foliage 5
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

When you are done with the brayer, remove the scrap paper strips to reveal the inked rectangle. Stamp desired images on this inked area. I used the leaf stamps from "French Foliage" in Early Espresso ink, then added the "splat" image from "French Foliage" with more Always Artichoke ink. The "gratitude" phrase is from "Day of Gratitude" stamp set.

French foliage 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

You really can't see it in the photo, but I finished off this card with a light spritzing of shimmer spray I created by mixing 91% rubbing alcohol with the "Gold Glimmer" Smooch Spritz in a travel-size spray bottle!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

Stampin’ Up! French Foliage!

French Foliage, Torn Masking, Blessings From Heaven, Summer Starfruit

Sharing one of the techniques we used at my recent "Wonderfall" Card Bonanza earlier this month, "Torn Masking"! This was a swap I received at Founder's Circle Retreat in September. Unforutnately, I have lost the creator's name! (I think it may have been France Martin?) But it's beautiful and I LOVE the technique, it's both easy and elegant!

Gratitude 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Here's how you do it:

Cut a piece of scrap paper the same size as the layer you will be stamping on. In this case I started with a piece of Very Vanilla 4" x 5 1/4", so I cut my scrap paper the same size. I tore the paper in half down the middle. Nothing fancy, just tore toward myself in a fairly straight line.

Gratitude 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I applied 2-way glue to the back sides of the scrap paper and let it air dry for a few minutes. 2-way glue air-dries to Post-It Note consistency, hence the reason it is called "2-way"! I didn't coat the back with glue, I just put a few quick strokes with the 2-way glue pen on there. I added the two strips of scrap paper over the Very Vanilla layer, leaving a space open between the strips as shown below. I started with Summer Starfruit ink and applied it to the open area using a "swirling" motion with my Stampin' Sponge instead of the usual "dab or flick". (See how swirly it looks?)

Gratitude 4
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I continued adding swirls of ink: Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, and Tangerine Tango, swirling the colors of ink and blending them into each other to get a "gradiation of color"!

Gratitude 5
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Next, I added stamping, using the gorgeous set, "French Foliage" and Early Espresso ink! The little scripty-phrase behind the leaves is also from "French Foliage" and was stamped with Crumb Cake!

Gratitude 6
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Finally, I removed the scrap paper masks and voila!

Gratitude 7
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

I used my Adhesive Remover to take off a little dab of the 2-way glue that had stuck itself onto my card front, easy-peasy!

I threaded a piece of "Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon" through the holes of a "Brushed Bronze" Button and attached it and a greeting, "gratitude" from "Fabulous Phrases" that had been cut out with a "Bitty Banners" Framelit with a couple of Glue Dots!

Stampin’ Up! Techniques Class and Baby Liam has arrived!

For those of you that are following the progress of the arrival of my newest grandson, I am happy to report he has arrived safely:

Liam label
and here is our little man!

Liam in the nursery
and up close with Mommy Kimberly:

Kimmy & liam
I think they BOTH look pretty good after almost 24 hours of labor and then a c-section! Mother & baby are both doing very well. They won't come home until sometime Sunday, so I have a chance to catch up on my sleep before I get to stay with them all next week to help out! I can't wait! Our whole family is rejoicing together for this wonderful gift from God!

While we were waiting for Liam's arrival during the loooong day yesterday, I did manage to get the pictures edited for the Technique side of the Punch/Technique Class next Saturday at my house (and the Punch/Technique Class in Galatia on Tuesday August 14th!):
