Stampin’ Up! Owl Pirate!

Stampin’ Up! Owl Pirate!

One of my favorite events every month is my Punch/Technique Class. I love using my Stampin' Up! punches to create fun pieces for my cards! Another of November's Punch Projects is this darling Owl Pirate! I found him somwhere in the blogsphere, I just can't remember exactly where, but he is a winner!

He is so much fun! Can you guess what his pirate hat is made from? You guessed it! It's another Owl body!

And his "peg leg" is the candle from the Cupcake Builder Punch!

I stamped the backgrounds with images from the "Open Sea" stamp set, and the greeting is from "Priority Mail" a current Hostess Set. The inside verse is from "Word Play", another of the stamp sets you can purchase as single stamps until January 2nd, stamped in Jet Black StazOn!

I'm still working on the rest of the projects for this Friday's class, so I'd better run!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! Day!

Stampin’ Up! Punched Birdies Celebrate!

Stampin’ Up! Punched Birdies Celebrate!

I found this adorable birdie punched card idea somewhere, but once again, I can't remember who! I did change it up a bit, using "Summer Smooches" Designer Paper for the little birdie hats and "celebrate" from the Holiday Catalog stamp set "Seasonal Sayings". One thing I love about that set is that you can purchase any ONE single stamp out of it right now, and tomorrow, Monday, October 29, it will be 15% off!

Birdies 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

On the inside, I used another stamp, "Happy Birthday", from "Perfecty Penned", another set that you can purchase the stamps as a group or separately! Once again, these stamps, as all of our stamps, are on sale tomorrow! I can hardly wait!

Birdies 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

The little tiny birdies following along in a line are from "Itty Bitty Bits", and yup, you guessed it, they are on sale tomorrow too!

The birdies are punched with the 1 3/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, and 1" Circle punches. The wings are from the Bird Builder punch, and their beaks and party hats are both from the Petite Pennants Builder Punch.

Here's a quick idea for punching the curved part of the hats:

Birdies 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Start with one of the straight-sided punched pennants. Inset the bottom of the pennant into the 1' Circle Punch from INSIDE the circle as shown below. When you have the pennant inserted as deeply as you want, punch the circle and it will shape the bottom of the hat. I used the same pennant and the same punch for all three sizes of hat. I just changed the depth of my punching to create hats of varying sizes!

Birdies 4

That's all for now! Today we are celebrating two of my daughter's birthdays with a family dinner. My oldest, Jessica, had her birthday in September, and Alisa's was October 18th. Today is the first chance we have had for the whole family to get together! I'm looking forward to some great family memories around our table this afternoon!

Don't forget the 15% off sale tomorrow! I know you probably find it hard to believe, but there ARE some Stampin' Up! stamps I do not own! That little anomaly will probably be rectified tomorrow!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! Day!

Stampin’Up! Wonderfall and the Autumn Accents Die!

Stampin’Up! Wonderfall and the Autumn Accents Die!

When I first saw the "Wonderfall" stamp set in the Holiday Catalog I was impressed. I thought, "Wow, that's a stamp set I've gotta have!" I'm a sucker for fall sets, love, love, love those leaves! I loved walking to and from school in the fall when I was a little girl, crunching the leaves in my Mary Jane's, trying to see how many acorns I could find along the way. My satchel would be full of them by the time I got home. (I always did like to "collect" things!)

Fall is pretty much my favorite season, although Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love how clear, bright, and blue the sky is on a warmly-crisp fall day. I love jack-o-lanterns on porch steps. I love Trick-or-treaters. I am old enough (and I know I'm dating myself, but I don't care!) to remember Trick-or-Treating all by myself, up and down my neighborhood street and one street over on each side of mine. That was my mom's limit, but I always came home with quite a haul!

Ok, I know you didn't come here to listen to a 50-something lady reminisce about her childhood, did you? Mine was pretty idyllic, before there was so much for parents (and kids) to be afraid of. I'm thankful for that.

You visited me today to see a card, and I have one for you. We made it at my "Wonderfall" Card Bonanza earlier this month, and I enjoyed the whole process with this one:

Wonderfall 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Pretty simple, but oh, so pretty! And the inside:

Wonderfall 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

As I said, I loved this set when I first saw it, but then I was puzzled when I saw that the coordinating die for this set was not framelits, but a traditional Bigz Die. I guess I'm spoiled by the framelits already, and so I hesitated to purchase this set and the die because I thought it would be too hard to line up the stamping after the leaves were cut out and KNEW the reverse, stamp first, then cut out with the die would be IMPOSSIBLE, which I am right, but after they demostrated this technique on stage at convention I was convinced I could do it!

So here's how you do it! Ink up the stamp (in this case with Cajun Craze ink) After inking, lay stamp ink-side-up on your stamping surface. With the new firm foam pads your stamp will be really nice and inky!

Wonderfall 3
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Taking the coordinating More Mustard leaf you cut out with the Autumn Accents Die, match up the leaf edges to the inked stamp edges as shown. To insure even coverage of ink on the leaf, lay another clear stamp block on top of the leaf and apply firm even pressure.

Wonderfall 5
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

Voila! a perfectly stamped image on a perfectly cut out leaf!

Stampin’ Up! Square Punch Quilted Tulip!

Stampin’ Up! Square Punch Quilted Tulip!

The third punch project for this month uses the not-retired-but-carried-over to the new catalog "Twitterpated" Designer Paper:

Quilted tulip 1

This is just beautiful! I found inspiration on someone's blog, but again, I do not remember who. If you know, please let me know so I can give proper credit!

ETA: I found it! The inspiration for this card came from Jennifer Timko of "Stampn' on the Fly"!

We will also be using the retiring set, "Oval All". This is also another card using the Big Shot Multi-Purpose Adhesive Sheets and the "Square Lattice" Textured Impressions Folder.

And here's the inside using "Heard From the Heart, "Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, and Basic Jewels Pearls.

Stampin’ Up! Retiring 5 Petal Flower Mermaid!

I still have so many things to show you with Stampin' Up! retiring products, I'm afraid I'm going to run out of month before I can show you them all! Then you add in all the fabulous new Sneek-Peek items that will be arriving on my doorstep starting tomorrow, oh my!

Here's another one of this month's punch projects, a mermaid inspired by Dawn Olchefske!

Mermaid 1

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

LOTS of punches used for this little lady, but the only one retiring this time is the 5-Petal Flower Punch which was used for the end of her tail!

I also used the retiring "Snowburst" Textured Impressions Folder to emboss her body and tail, then used a Sponge Dauber to brush on a coat of Frost White Shimmer Paint! Her hair is retiring "Poppy Parade" cardstock punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch and the Boho Blossoms flower adorning her hair is topped off with a retiring "Clear Rhinestone Brad"!

Tomorrow is another Quilted card using square punches! Until then, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

Stampin’Up! Punch Class Graduation Owl!

Stampin’Up! Punch Class Graduation Owl!

I've been working on the projects for Punch/Technique Class this month and found inspiration for an adorable graduation card somewhere on the web, but right now I can't remember who. If you know who came up with this cutie patootie, let me know so I can give them credit! Lookie:

Grad cap card 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

An okay card from this side, kind of plain, but a pretty good representation of a graduation cap, (the "happy graduation" is from "Teeny Tiny Wishes") but the real fun starts when you turn it over:

Grad cap card 2

Then open the box-like folds:

Grad cap card 3

TAA-DAAA!!!!!

Purty cute, dontcha think???? His nose is the heart that is part of the Owl Builder Punch, his wings are from the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch cut down with the Paper Snips, and his cap is a rectangle that starts out 1" x 1 1/2",  is scored at 1/2" and 3/4" on two sides with the Simply Scored, then hand-trimmed with the Paper Snips. The cap base is from the Petite Pennants Builder Punch then hand-trimmed with the Paper Snips. A tassel of White Baker's Twine and the 1/2" Circle Punch finish the cap off perfectly!

That's it for today! I have to finish Kimberly's baby shower thank-you's before her next shower this afternoon!  I'm stamping and assembling them, SHE is actually writing the thank-you notes! Oh, and I need show you the decorations from her shower this past Sunday, don't I?

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!
