Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wonder Washi Sunburst Card!

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Wonder Washi Sunburst Card!

Hey there. I saved one more set of washi tape cards to show you today. This set has generally the same layout but I used the Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape from the Occasions Catalog:

Stampin_up_watercolor_wonder_washi_1 - Copy
These two cards are almost split-negatives of each other! One on Whisper White, one of Basic Black. I ran both through the Chevron Textured Impressions Folder.
The greeting is from Starburst Sayings, gold-embossed  and cut with a Starburst Framelit Die. I layerd both on a Brushed Gold circle cut with a Circles Collection Framelit Die.

Inside I stamped sentiments from Happy Watercolor and Express Yourself Hostess above with Gold Encore Metallic ink. I used the same ink for the sentiment from Simply Sketched Hostess  below.

Funny thing about the title "Watercolor Wonder" Washi Tape. Where is the watercolor? It's gold! lol!

Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape is Wonderful!

Stampin’ Up! Washi Tape is Wonderful!

Hey there! Typepad (my blogging platform) was down last night, so I was unable to get my blog post up before I went to bed. I have a bunch of fun cards for you today using washi tape, so let's get started!

My first sample for you I CASED from Rachel Tessman of Canada. Retro Fresh Washi tape was laid on the card front in a radiating pattern that gives it an all-over look of designer paper. Washi tape is a low-tack tape, so if you haven't pressed it down onto the cardstock you can lift and re-position a little without tearing the paper. The little stamped stars are from the Sale-a-bration Banner Blast set in Tangerine Tango, So Saffron, and Coastal Cabana ink. The greeting is from You're Amazing, and rhinestones were added for a little sparkle.

Stampin_up_retro_fresh_youre_amazing_banner_blast_1 - Copy

The inside is quick and easy too, using a greeting from Delightful Dozen:

Stampin_up_retro_fresh_delightful_dozen_banner_blast - Copy

I stepped-up this next card for a workshop Make-n-take by adding a card base of Tangerine Tango and a few gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim. You can use Glue Dots or Tombow Glue to attach the sequins.

Stampin_up_retro_fresh_youre_amazing_1 - Copy

Stampers at the workshop will have their choice from the Delightful Dozen greeting or this one from "Yippee-Skippee!" They will also line their envelope with a bit of Retro Fresh Designer Paper and an Envelope Liner Framelit.

For a more masculine look, I used the same layout but switched to Epic Day This and That Washi Tape and a greeting from Countless Sayings 2 photopolymer. Card base is Basic Gray and inks are Basic Black, Tangerine Tango, and Crumb Cake.

Stampin_up_epic_day_countless_sayings_2

Delightful Dozen on the inside again and I added some more washi tape to keep the continuity going:

Stampin_up_epic_day_delightful_dozen

I love that we have more than a couple of washi tapes to choose from! Three rolls in each package with 5 yards per roll for only $4.95!

I used Gingham Garden Washi tape for my feminine sample. Daffodil Delight card base, then the little flower from the Banner Blast stamp set stamped in Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Island Indigo.

Stampin_up_gingham_garden_youre_amazing

Up close you can see the detail of the scalloped paper-piercing. I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack as my guide. Just a little bit of piercing adds such a fun detail! Greeting from You're Amazing again.

Stampin_up_gingham_garden_youre_amazing_2 - Copy

Inside is another greeting from the You're Amazing stamp set.

Stampin_up_gingham_garden_youre_amazing_3 - Copy

As you can see from these samples, it doesn't require a lot of supplies to create multiple looks with one layout. A limited supply challenge can be fun!

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Wetlands with a Painter’s Tape Twist!

Stampin’ Up! Wetlands with a Painter’s Tape Twist!

Hey there! I had a really fun day yesterday! I had a chance to drive almost 2 hours over to the eastern edge of Illinois and go stamp with a group of women right at the Ohio River! I mean, the Ohio River was right outside her front porch! It was a beautiful drive on a clear autumn day through the Shawnee National Forest, and then when I arrived, it was so lovely to stamp with these women admidst the serene quiet and clean river air! We stamped 4 cards, so she had a table set up in her kitchen and one on her front porch! It was warm, but not overly, so we had an extremely good day!

After I headed home I drove straight to my daughter's to take three of my grandchildren, Maddie Kate, Ava, and Cohen, to their gymnastics practice. I don't get to do that very often, but it worked out perfectly this time. I love watching them cartwheel, roll, and flip!

Needless to say, by the time I arrived home last night I had zero time to create, so that had to wait until today after I caught up on a few of my chores that were neglected yesterday. Logan is coming home from school for the weekend too, so I have a few things to get done for his arrival. (one major thing is to be all caught up on my laundry before he brings me his! lol!)

Fall just feels like the right time to do heat embossing, doesn't it? I love the look, and I've been using my heat tool alot lately. Today's creation is no exception. I used Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss Powder to emboss the goose from Wetlands:

Wetlands 1
I combined the embossing with a bit of masking technique, then used the Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape for my twist on the painter's tape technique!

First, I embossed the goose with Early Espresso e.p. on Very Vanilla cardstock. I made sure I rubbed my Embossing Buddy over the cardstock first, before I stamped him with Versamark and sprinkled on the powder so I would get a clean image when I heated without any powder "scatter".

Wetlands 5

Next, I stamped the same goose image on a piece of scrap paper and cut it out with my Paper Snips. I swiped a few lines of glue with my 2-way Glue Pen on the backside and let the glue air-dry for a few minutes so it would dry to Post-It Note consistency. I then covered my embossed goose with the goose "mask" before starting the painter's tape technique.

Wetlands 6

For my Painter's Tape Technique twist, I used some extra Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape instead of painter's tape. I wanted my lines of ink to be smaller, more in scale with the size of the goose. I tore off random-sized pieces from all three rolls of washi tape. I then laid each one on an open inkpad, pressing down lightly with my fingers on the tape. I then transferred the inked tape to the masked-goose image, lightly rubbing with my fingers again to transfer some, but not all, of the ink over the image. When I removed the tape it left this cool splotchy-looking line of ink! I used Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Pool Party inks.

Wetlands 7

I then removed the mask and cut out the inked image with an Ovals Collection Framelit. I framed it with another oval I cut out after I traced around the same framelit I had cut out the goose with and then hand-cut it with my Paper Snips. I sponged the edges of the oval with Crumb Cake ink. I adhered the ovals with Stampin Dimensionals to my card front, which I had layered with two strips of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.

Wetlands 3

For the finishing touches on the greeting, which is also included in the Wetlands set, I heat-embossed it with Early Espresso powder, cut it out with a Circle Thinlet Card Framelit, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I tied a thread from the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon through a Naturals Designer Button and then adhered it to the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Wetlands 4

Inside I used a phrase from Delightful Dozen which I also Early Espresso heat-embossed. It just gives a little bit more texture, even without anything else done to it!

Wetlands 2
That's all for now. Thanks so much for checking in with me today. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! What to Washi Week!

Stampin’ Up! What to Washi Week!

Good Morning! Happy Labor Day! Hope you are going to a picnic, ballgame, or some kind of fun, yummy gathering today! My church has held a Labor Day Picnic since before my husband was born, so that's where my bunch is headed today!

I've been playing with my Washi Tape again!

Washi tree 1

All week I will be featuring projects using Stampin' Up! Designer Washi Tape! We have four different designs, two in the Annual Catalog and two in the Holiday, so I'm excited to use them all for you this week!

I used Season of Style Designer Washi Tape with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Baked Brown Sugar, and Whisper White cardstock. After laying down the strips of washi tape on a Whisper White scrap I cut it with the Perfect Pennants Bigz L die to create my tree. I used the Modern Label to punch the tree trunk. I embossed the Old Olive layer with the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Folder, then added Basic Jewel Rhinestones to the centers of the embossed snowflakes. I added several rhinestones, scatterning them all over the tree for a good dose of bling!

This was my first time using one of the Expressions Thinlets Dies, and I am impressed! I had done some research of how to get the best results with these dies, so tried the tip to put a layer of wax paper against the die before adding the cardstock. There are several tiny holes in the die, so after cutting with the Big Shot I was able to pop out the word quite easily! I left the wax paper in the die for future use.

My next challenge was how to attach this eensy-weensy, skinny little word to my project, so I tried applying  Tombow Multipurpose Glue to the back side of "Merry" with a toothpick:

Washi tree 6

As you can see I didn't glue the whole word, just the tops and bottoms of the letters and at the areas where the letters intersected. This was just enough adhesive to make the word attach without being goopy!

Washi tree 3

Inside the card I stamped the "christmas" word from Seasonal Sayings, then punched the left-over washi layer with the Petite Pennants Builder Punch and the Merry Minis Punch Pack for the little trees.

Washi tree 5

I needed a piece of cardstock for the Pennant Builder Punch tree, so used a Baked Brown Sugar-punched Merry Minis tree! With just the trunk showing below the edge of the tree, it worked perfectly!

Washi tree 4

This will be one of the cards we make at my monthly Christmas Card Class this next Friday! Stamping seats are still available, so RSVP to me today!

All supplies to make this card can be found in my Online Store:

www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Hop on over there to order your Season of Style Washi Tape! A pack goes a long way, but you might want to order at least a couple because when the Holiday Catalog is over on January 2nd, it will be gone forever. You will probably want to pick up the Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Folder or the Perfect Pennants Bigz L Die and Petite Pennants Builder Punch too if you don't have them!

Remember, every $25 you order gets you "Bluesox Rewards" to earn tokens toward a free Stampin' Product!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
