Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day – Valentine’s Day is on Its’ Way!

Hey there! It's Sunday, which means it's the day I share some of my monthly swaps with you all. Since it's really just a short time before Valentine's Day is here, I wanted to show you these two Valentines:

This year Stampin' Up! released three limited-edition valentine sets that are only available until January 27th. This card by Mary Waring was created with the Love You More set (#131850 wood-mount $21.95 or #131853 clear-mount $16.95) and Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack (#132996 $6.95). The paper-pieced birdie is holding a Cherry Cobbler-punched small heart and tiny linen-thread banner from the Follow My Heart Stamp Set.

This card by Kathy Morgan was created with the Follow My Heart set (#134611 $15.95 wood-mount, #134614 $11.95 clear-mount), as well as the En Francais background (#128562 $17.95 wood-mount, #127790 $13.95 clear-mount) and the third limited-edition valentine stamp, Flowerful Heart stamp (#134617 $9.95 wood-mount only). Kathy stamped the Flowerful Heart stamp with Pink Pirouette ink on whisper white, then cut it out with the smallest of the Heart Framelits. She then cut a Raspberry Ripple heart with the next-sized-larger Heart Framelit. The Eiffel Tower and the En Francais background are both stamped with Soft Suede in, then cut with an Oval Collection Framelit. It is layered on a next-sized-larger Soft Suede Oval.

Stampin’ Up! Hearts a Flutter Valentines Swaps!

With Valentine's Day coming up tomorrow, I thought I'd better show you these cute swaps I took pictures of at Leadership. I have no idea who created them, but they are simply awesome!

All were created with the "Hearts a Flutter" stamp set!

This first one has clean lines. Love the Chevron folder on the Whisper White card base! Greeting from the free SAB set, "Bloomin' Marvelous"!

Solid flower heart in center is from "Spring Sampler".

This one is also very clean & simple. The hearts have been punched with the Postage Stamp Punch. Greeting from Friendly Phrases. Primrose Petals cardstock, ink, and ribbon.

This one is a little more involved, but I love the color combo of Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Real Red, and Basic Black! The little touch of Silver Glimmer Paper (yours when you host a $150 party during Sale-a-bration) really makes the Owl-punched Basic Black heart pop!

It's Monday morning and I'm spending my day with Liam, by youngest grandson!

He's jumping and having a party in his excercizer this morning! He's had a bottle and a nap, several diaper changes and a jammie change, we've played on the piano play mat and in the excercizer, and now it's just about time for another bottle and maybe another nap!

While we wait for the next step in Liam's day, how about a card share?

This is another card I swapped at Leadership, using the same "Paper Quilting" technique as the Tea For Two Gatefold Card with the More Amore Specialty Designer Paper. The heart is cut out with one the the Heart Framelits, and embossed with the heart strip of the Adorning Accents Folders, and one of the new "Needlepoint Borders" folders and even recycled the negative part of the image on the inside like I did on yesterday's card:

This posting is late today, I know, but it is still on time since it is still Sunday!

Before I show you my creation for today, how about a little picture of me and my sister?

Last Sunday afternoon my hubby & I traveled north about 2 1/2 hours to the city of my birth, Decatur, Illinois to attend a retirement party for my sister, Connie. Connie worked as a Respiratory Therapist for many years (over 30!). Her husband retired a couple of years ago, and now she has joined those ranks too!

Some say Connie looks like our dad and I look like our mom. I just know she was my favorite person growing up and is right up there on my favorites list now! I love you, sis!

Now on to today's card:

This card's focal point is actually what would usually be considered the discard piece from yesterday's card. Remember the "quilted heart" from the center? This is the pieceit was cut out of, mounted on Chocolate Chip, then a heart from Hearts A Flutter stamped in Calypso Coral and a tiny little motif from the Sale-a-bration set, Madison Avenue, stamped in Pool Party. The "LOVE YOU" is from Itty Bitty Banners cut out with the Bitty Banners Framelits.

I have a confession to make: the base of this card was begun waaaaaay back in October of 2011! I was prepping swaps for the Louisville Regional that year and I ran out of time before I was able to complete them, so into storage they went, and were promptly forgotten! Leadership 2012, then Convention 2012 came and went, and these bases, Houndstooth-embossed Pool Party on Chocolate Chip, continued to languish, destined to oblivion once Pool Party retired in May of 2013. But lucky for them, while I was preparing the room where they were stored for Christmas family guests, they were unearthed (YOU don't have anything like that wasting away in YOUR craft or spare bedroom, do YOU?!)

So a discarded-but-now-repurposed focal point meets almost-forgotten card base. What do you think? I liked it once I completed it and it turns out I got lots of nice compliments on it when I swapped it in Orlando.
