Stampin’ Up! International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlight Random Acts of Kindness, Encouragement!

Hey there! Today's post is for Kylie Bertucci's International Stampin' Up! Blog Highlight featuring Random Acts of Kindness. What's a Random Act of Kindness (also known as a RAK)? When you do something nice for someone is not expecting; they haven't asked or it's not their birthday, etc.

My RAK is for a special friend who has been caring for her elderly mother for several years. Her mother has dementia and things are not going well. The stress is increasing for my friend, so I'm dedicating today's project to her. I will also be popping this in the mail right away!

I've been wanting to try my hand at the Bokeh technique for a long time.

I used a sentiment from Thoughtful Branches, heat embossed with white powder on vellum. I added circles of White Craft ink using a Sponge Dauber. I scored the ends of the vellum, wrapping behind the layer with SNAIL so no adhesive would show through.

Bokeh is a photography term. From Photography Life.com:

Bokeh, also known as “Boke” is one of the most popular subjects in photography. The reason why it is so popular, is because Bokeh makes photographs visually appealing, forcing us to focus our attention on a particular area of the image. The word comes from Japanese language, which literally translates as “blur”.

I punched a stencil from scrap cardstock using 1 3/4", 1 1/4", 1", 3/4", and 1/2" circle punches. I laid it over the Night of Navy layer, adding Night of Navy, Wisteria Wonder, and So Saffron with sponge daubers. I laid the same stencil over the sponged circles, off-setting a little and sometimes a lot to sponge Whisper White Craft ink with a swirling motion. I added some Whisper White ink circles by directly patting with the Sponge Dauber to fill in blank areas.

Inside I used the stencil to sponge Night of Navy and Wisteria Wonder. The sentiment is from Thoughtful Branches. If you haven't ordered this set yet, don't wait much longer; this set won't be available after August 31st!

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop June Edition Home of the Brave!

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop June Edition Home of the Brave!

Hey there. Today is a good day! It's Father's Day, of course, which means all of our kids and grandkids will be here for lunch and the afternoon! Today is also the 15th, which means it's time for "Home of the Brave", the June edition of:

1797524_10152216933805070_1250170996_n

You may have arrived here from Stella's blog, StellarStamps.com I just love what Stella comes up with every month! Her style is simple but WOW! If you are just getting started, no worries! You can start here, hop through all 12 blogs, be inspired, then get busy creating something awesome of your own!

With the theme "Home of the Brave", I wanted to do something patriotic to commemorate our great Nation's birth. A card just didn't seem like enough, so I decided to use my new Star Framelits:

I hand-snipped the ends of Night of Navy banners, then used four of the five star framelits for the stars.

I embossed the Night of Navy banners with the Stylish Stripes folder, then cut Real Red Backgrounds Designer Paper with a Starburst Framelit.

I cut Silver Glimmer paper for the largest stars, and punched the tiniest silver stars with the star punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack, which is still available through August 27th on the Carryover List!

I used the alphabet stencils from the Build a Banner Simply Created Kit to add the letters with Night of Navy ink. I'm so glad this kit is in the new catalog!

Each banner is assembled with either Stampin' Dimensionals or Glue Dots

Lastly, I covered regular clothespins with Real Red paper, cutting the strips 3/8" wide by 3 7/8" long and adhering with SNAIL.

I'm excited to decorate for the 4th with my new banner!
