Stampin’ Up! A Dozen Thoughts Butterflies!

Stampin’ Up! A Dozen Thoughts Butterflies!

Hey there! Today I have a simple card created with both sets of the butterflies framelits dies!

I used the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on the white background, and created the banner with English Garden Designer Series Paper and the Banner Triple Punch.

I cut the Perfect Plum butterfly overlay with the medium Butterflies Thinlets Die with the largest Bold Butterfly Framelits for the Basic Black underlay. I adhered together with my Fine Tip Glue Pen, then adhered to the card with Glue Dots. White Perfect Accents complete the body center.

"just because" from A Dozen Thoughts is stamped with Perfect Plum and cut with a Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Die. I traced around the outside of the same die on Perfect Plum, cutting with Paper Snips. After I adhered the layers together, I hand-trimmed the plum layer in half.

Inside I stamped "YOU'RE IN MY THOUGHTS"  from A Dozen Thoughts on Whisper White, then cut with another Project Life Cards & Labels Framelit. A 1" wide strip of English Garden ties the inside and outside together.

I used the coordinating smallest butterflies from both sets of framelits to layer the inside butterfly, adding a single White Perfect Accent.

Stampin’ Up! An English Garden Sunday Swap Day!

Stampin’ Up! An English Garden Sunday Swap Day!

Hey there! It's time for Sunday Swap Day again! yay!

I want to share with you a little of my day yesterday. Some of you may remember that I'm the baby sister in my family. Our parents are long gone, and my brother and sister live about 3 hours away in Decatur, IL, so I don't get to see them very often. They are getting older, which of course I am too, so I treasure every chance I get to spend a little time with them.

Every time we take a picture together, my brother, Don, always says, "I'm just the rose between two thorns"! He's also the only person who calls me "kiddo" and gets away with it!

My sister, Connie, and I just love our big brother to pieces!

8-8-2015

As we headed home, my family indulged me in a little trip down my memories' lane. This is the school I attended through 6th grade, Oak Grove. I really think this is the same chain link fence that was in place when I attended there in the 60's. My daughter, Alisa, who was with us, commented, "Decatur is a Wonder Years town"!

8-8-15 Oak grove

We stopped by the house I lived in until I was 11 1/2. It doesn't look anything like it did back then (who painted over the soft butter yellow?), but the maple tree out front is still there. Oh, how many times did my mother make me get down from that tree because I wasn't supposed to be climbing it?

8-8-15 1067 N Summmit

A really neat thing happened while I was taking this picture. A lady sitting on her porch next door started calling, "Hellooooo, can I help you?" and when I answered her that I was just checking out the house because I lived there when I was a little girl, she asked me who I was. When I told her my maiden name, she remembered me! Turns out she lived next door to me back then, only she was a teenager! Who would've guessed that over 40 years later someone I know would still live next door?

We drove through Fairview Park so I could show my family the "bikini tree". This tree has been wearing a painted "bikini" for over 50 years! She's not lookin' too bad for an old lady, eh?

8-8-15 bikini tree

We also stopped by the church I attended faithfully with my parents when I was little. This church is responsible for my early training in my belief in God and the Bible. I'm also a fan of pipe organ music because of the marvelous instrument this church has!

8-8-15 central christian

I always had an excellent view of the church service. . . from the balcony! Apparently I was quite the squirmy chatterbox, so rarely did we sit on the main floor.

If you've lasted this long, THANK YOU and congratulations! Now you get to see some swaps!

First, Mary Waring stamped the Watercolor Thank You stamp with Tuxedo Black ink on English Garden Designer Paper, adding an Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower in Rose Red and stamping Crumb Cake  on the Crumb Cake card base with the splatter stamp from Perpetual Birthday Calendar:

Stampin_up_watercolor_thank_you

Next, Sue Berreth combined English Garden and Farmer's Market Designer Paper with the Brick Wall Folder and a Bold Butterfly framelit. She partially stamped a phrase from Me = Grateful, cutting it out with a Tags & Labels Framelit.

Stampin_up_me_equals_grateful_1

Sue stamped the rest of the sentiment on the inside for a simple yet effective finish:

Stampin_up_me_equals_grateful_2

Third, Barbara Nagle combined the English Garden paper with the Watercolor Wings set for her tag card punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch:

Stampin_up_watercolor_wings

Finally, Rhonda Bassler used one of my favorite color combos: Blushing Bride, Whisper White, and Soft Suede, adding a pop of Old Olive with the Garden in Bloom set. Can you see the little strip of English Garden paper peeking out from behind the layers cut with the Tags & Labels Framelits?

Stampin’ Up! English Garden Glassine Butterfly!

Stampin’ Up! English Garden Glassine Butterfly!

Hey there! Happy 4th of July! I hope you get to spend your day with people you love, celebrating our great country's independence anniversary!

Today I have another card I created, possibly for a swap, with the English Garden Designer Paper and the Butterflies and Bold Butterflies Framelit Dies:

Stampin_up_english_garden_glassine_1

The butterfly is created from one layer of Rose Red card stock cut with the larger of the two Bold Butterfly Framelits, and the top layer is a Glassine Sheet cut with the coordinating Butterflies Framelits Die.

I took the white adhesive layer from the back of a White Perfect Accent to make it a clear round dot, then added it to the butterfly with a glue dot. I used Gold Metallic Thread again, knotting the loops to attach to the back of the butterfly head, also with a glue dot.

Stampin_up_english_garden_glassine_2

The longer this card exists, however, the more the edges of the glassine butterfly curl. I think I need to re-work these layers. Glassine Sheets are similar to waxed paper, so the lacy butterflies are very delicate but also fragile.

Stampin_up_english_garden_glassine_3

Inside I added a 1/4" wide strip of the same English Garden pattern to pull it all together. I love the "just because" from A Dozen Thoughts. It's so girly and sweet!

Here's the supply list for today. You can order it all in my online store: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’ Up! English Garden Butterfly!

Stampin’ Up! English Garden Butterfly!

Hey there! I've been designing convention swaps. A swap is a card you create, make several all alike, take to a Stampin' Up! event, then trade with other demonstrators for their "swap". You take a stack of cards all alike and come home with a stack all different!

Today's card uses English Garden Designer Series Paper. I used both sides of the same sheet, cutting the 3 3/4" x 5" piece in half at 1 7/8", then flipping one over to show the other side:

Stampin_up_english_gardnen_butterfly_1 - Copy

I used both sets of butterfly framelit dies to cut three layers; Night of Navy solid on bottom, Glassine Sheet solid in the middle, and Pink Pirouette lacy on top. All held together and adhered to the Kraft Corrugated Paper punched with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch with glue dots.

Stampin_up_english_garden_butterfly_2 - Copy

I separated the fibers of White 1/14" Jute Ribbon to tie the top of the tag, adding a strip of Rhinestones to the butterfly body.

Stampin_up_english_garden_butterfly_3 - Copy
This is my favorite sentiment from All Boxed Up, punched with the Washi Label Punch!

Stampin_up_english_garden_butterfly_4 - Copy

Not my favorite, but I like it better this morning than I did last night. My husband laughed when I told him sometimes the creativity just "pours out of my head" and sometimes it doesn't!
