Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day The Newborn King and a Park Lane Purse for Alisa!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day The Newborn King and a Park Lane Purse for Alisa!

Hey there! It's Sunday! Today our family is celebrating Alisa's birthday! yay!

Today's cards are made with The Newborn King set in the Holiday Catalog.

First, Phyllis Shepherd used Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Embossing Powder for her main image. She tied a bit of Linen Thread around a fold of Cherry Cobbler Sheer Linen Ribbon to dangle an All is Calm Snowflake Embellishment.

Next, Glenda Travelstead used the Spotlighting technique for the manger scene she beautifully colored and shaded. The punched circle of Champagne Glimmer paper is the perfect finishing touch!

Finally, Genevieve Ko used Back to Black Designer and Silver Glimmer Paper to highlight the Manger scene for a timeless-yet-contemporary look:

This year I have been trying to make a special one-of-a-kind card for each of my children and grandbabies for their birthday. Alisa loves to design and sew fabric purses, so here's my attempt to create a purse for her with my favorite crafting medium:

After I punched the Park Lane Designer Paper with the Postage Stamp Punch, I adhered them to my Blackberry Bliss base, then embossing with the Honeycomb folder. I colored the Very Vintage Designer Button with my Rich Razzleberry Blendability marker, then tied a bit of Gold 1/8" Ribbon through the holes before adhering with a glue dot.

Greeting and sentiment are easy-peasy with phrases from Petite Pairs!

Here's the main supplies for all the cards today. When you want to order, click on any of the product images or click here to go to my Online Store: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

I played with the Gentle Peace photopolymer set yesterday, incorporating The Newborn King into some of them. Come back tomorrow for the first day of Gentle Peace Week!

Stampin’ Up! 2014 New Catalog Premiere is Tonight!

Stampin’ Up! 2014 New Catalog Premiere is Tonight!

Hey there! I am SO EXCITED!!!!! Tonight is the Stampin' Up! New Catalog Premiere! Six of my downline and I are taking a road-tripl to Hazelwood, MO (about two hours from here) to attend this brand-new-never-before-held event!

Stampin' Up! is broadcasting the live Catalog Premiere from a theater in Long Beach, California to selected locations around the U.S. The closest theater for us here in Southern Illinois was over in Missouri, so of course we signed up!

We will each receive our own copy of the New 2014 Annual Catalog, watch the broadcast where we will learn about new products from the Catalog, and hopefully receive  a little extra SWAG (new catalog product) too!

At every Stampin' Up! event I attend with my downline, I always give them a little gift for attending. I know it takes effort to prepare for the trip and to  leave family on their own at home. I've been there, done that for the 11+ years I've been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, and so I want them to know how much I appreciate them:

(Stampin_up_star_stamper

I embellished empty wood-mount stamp boxes (which are available in packs of 4 for $6.95 in the Annual Catalog) with the black newsprint design from the Modern Medley Designer Paper pack (Modern Medley paper is retiring) and the logo that Stampin' Up! created to advertise the catalog premiere event.

Patty Bennett, a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from California shared the logo on a Facebook group we are both members of. She had altered it slightly so I could insert each of my downlines' names! So cool! Thanks, Patty! I used a free online photo-editing website, www.picmonkey.com to insert the names.

After I added the names and printed them out on glossy brochure paper, I cut them out and adhered them to the black newsprint paper, which I had cut 11 1/4" x 8" so I could slide it under the clear plastic shield around the box. I then reduced the size of the photos so I could print them again and adhere them to the spine section of the paper. I was so pleased with the professional look! I added Champagne Glimmer paper stars that I punched with the star punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack.

After I created and filled the boxes I just needed to make one more thing for them, so I covered these mini legal-sized notepads (I took them to Staples and had them cut them in half) with the same Designer Series Paper and Basic Black cardstock. I used an exclusive demonstrator-only stamp set we received at Leadership this year, Star Stamper, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, to create the medallion on the front.

I'm sure some of my downline check my blog or see my posts on Facebook, so although I'm posting the outside of my gift, I'm not sharing whats INSIDE  so there will still be some surprises tonight!

That's all for now! Tomorrow I will be able to show you the front of the catalog, but not the inside. The catalog doesn't officially go "live" for customers until June 1st, so I can't show you the inside pages until then.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Calm Christmas Sprinkle Embossed!

Stampin’ Up! Calm Christmas Sprinkle Embossed!

Hey there! I tried a fun new technique for one of my SWOW class projects – Sprinkled Embossing! Lookie:

Calm 1

These pictures really don't do it justice, but it's still quite pretty!

Calm 2

I used the Holiday Catalog set, Calm Christmas, with the Circles Collection Framelits and Champagne Glimmer Paper.

Sprinkled Embossing is a variation of traditional heat embossing: stamp your image with Versamark, then instead of sprinkling the image with just one color, you use your fingers or a small spoon to sprinkle the image with several colors of powder, tap off the excess, then heat! I didn't hold the stamped image over the powder containers as I sprinkled like I usually do, I held it over a paper plate instead. The mixed colors of leftover powder can either be discarded or used together on another image to achieve a totally different look! I used Gold for the olive branch, then Pool Party and Tempting Turquoise for the bird. At first I thought I should sprinkle sparingly, but I wasn't very happy with the result. My next try I sprinkled heavily and was very pleased!

This card is really gorgeous in real life! I wish you could see it for yourself!

That's all for now. I'm hoping to be able to get in to see a dr at a walk-in clinic Saturday so I can start getting rid of this annoying sinus infection and cough I've been dealing with for several days.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! Build a Banner Christmas Joy!

Stampin’Up! Build a Banner Christmas Joy!

I received my final paper-copy of Papercrafts this weekend, (it's going to all digital delivery from now on)and a sample on the cover inspired me to create this with my Build a Banner Simply Created Kit:

Joy 1

I used the stencils in the kit to sponge the "j" with Early Espresso, the "o" with Real Red, and the "y" with Garden Green on the Crumb Cake layer. After sponging the "joy" letters, I then sponged the dots with the dotted stencil and Whisper White Craft ink.

I inked just the "Christmas" on the "a very merry Christmas to you" from More Merry Messages with a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker. I cut it out with one of the Bitty Banner Framelits. I dotted the "j" with a Champagne Glimmer Paper star.

Joy 2
Inside I stamped images from the "Wishing You" stamp set.

I'm going to miss my paper issues of "Papercrafts". It seems like an oxymoron for a magazine named "Papecrafts" isn't available on paper anymore, but my blog is delivered to you digitally, so I guess that's just another bit of progress, isn't it?

You can order your Build a Banner Simply Created Kit (#133507 $19.95) from my Online Store. You can get there by clicking on the "shop now" button" here on my blog.

That's all for now. Thanks so much for stopping in to see me today. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’Up! More Merry Messages!

Stampin’Up! More Merry Messages!

This card is a very simple, clean, vintage card that has been a favorite with my stamping friends this season. While "simple", "clean", and "vintage" don't really sound like they go together, this card really does fit all of those categories!

This card was a swap, but I'm not sure if it was a swap from Founder's or my monthly swap I participate in, but whoever created it really did an outstanding job! It's hard to do vintage without getting carried away with embellishments, but she held herself in and created the perfect combination when she embossed the Core'dinations Early Espresso cardstock with the Lacy Brocade Folder then lightly sanded it with the new Sanding System to expose the lighter core. The addition of the Champagne Glimmer paper cut with the Tasteful Trim Die and the Cherry Cobbler 3 1/2" Scalloped Tulle Ribbon make this card really pop but are easy to add with Tombow and Glue Dots!

Very merry 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

She finished the front with a greeting from More Merry Messages, a new Christmas favorite of mine!

The inside is finished with another simple yet effective phrase, the single wood-mount stamp from the Holiday Catalog, Heart of Christmas!

Very merry 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2012

That's all for today! Lots to do today. I only have one stamping party left before Christmas, for my good friend Tudy Hoffman at Nashville, IL, but of course there's lots to do just getting ready for Christmas with our family! I'm going to get my haircut today, something that is long overdue in more ways than one! ha! There's also a box of new stampin' goodies I have pre-ordered from the new spring Occasions catalog calling my name! I can hardly wait to start playing with them and sharing with you all!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
