Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 29!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 29!

Hey there! It's Sunday, which means it's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay! Today our whole family is traveling down to Kentucky to eat lunch at Patti's 1880's Settlement to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The kids debated whether to have a party/reception for us or to just go out together to eat and spend the day. We decide to go with the day together as a family and I am excited!

First for Sunday Swap Day, Cindy Ewertz created a simple but striking card with the Holiday Catalog set, Good Tidings. She used Lemon Lime Twist, Garden Green, Real Red, and Basic Black. A touch of Silver 1/8" Ribbon and a strip of Merry Music Specialty Designer Paper are the perfect finishing touches.

Good Tidings images are lovely inside too!

Stampin_up_good_tidings_carolpaynestamps2

Next, Sharon Tong-Robinson used the Hearts Come Home set for her lever card.  She also used the Card Front Builder Framelits and Lots of Label Framelits. Dazzling Diamonds Glitter adds silvery snowy touches to the trees.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps1

I love the look with this fold!

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps2

Kathy Johnson also used Hearts Come Home with the Hometown Greetings Edgelits (bundled to save 10%) and the Layering Squares Framelits. Night of Navy, Silver Foil, Whisper White, and touches of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper create the perfect winter scene.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps3

This card is a window card! She added a snowflake cut with the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets Dies from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.

Beautiful sentiment from Hearts Come Home and a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer moon:

Finally,  an anonymous creator used Season Like Christmas and Merry Music Specialty Designer Paper for an easel card.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps

I just love the easel card presentation! The creator used Cherry Cobbler, Basic Black, and Tranquil Tide, adding Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the trees for some snowy bling.

Layering Ovals Framelits  were used to cut out the greeting that also acts as the easel "stop".

Stampin’ Up! Here For You Easel Card!

Stampin’ Up! Here For You Easel Card!

Hey there! Did you have a good weekend? Ours was super-busy! I ran over to Fairview Heights to visit with my brother over lunch on Friday, on Saturday I went to Ivory's 1st birthday party, and Sunday we hosted our family September/October birthday gathering! Needless to say, I didn't have any time to blog yesterday, but I'm back again today with a new card I had almost forgotten to share with you!

When I was playing with the Quilted Christmas Suite I made one final card with a non-Christmas theme. I used a print from the Spooky Night Designer Series Paper pack that turned out to be a perfect quilt-square print!

Stampin_up_here_for_you_carolpaynestamps1

For this "quilt" all I did was cut an Early Espresso "quilt" with the Quilt Builder Framelits, then cut a second quilt with the same die from a piece of Spooky Night DSP!

After putting the DSP pieces back inside the Early Espresso frame and adhering to the Very Vanilla layer, I embossed it all with the Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added the tiniest heart from the Hearts & Stars Elements with a bit of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Stampin_up_here_for_you_carolpaynestamps2

I used the Faux Suede technique  to distress Peekaboo Peach card stock, separating the layers into two sheets before punching one with the Cat Punch. I sponged the edges with Peekaboo Peach ink for more depth. I added "I'm here for you", punched with the Classic Label punch.

Stampin_up_here_for_you_carolpaynestamps3

This card is another easel fold. I guess you've figured out by now I get in a groove sometimes with a fold, color palette, or technique.

Stampin_up_here_for_you_carolpaynestamps4

I used the bloom die from the Quilt Builder Framelits to create the "easel-stop". I added another tiny Hearts & Stars Element to the center. I love these tiny wooden accents!

Stampin_up_here_for_you_carolpaynestamps5

Inside I used more Here for You phrases, then added the quilt stitching image with stamped-off Pumpkin Pie ink.

Stampin’ Up! In This World CCREW1017SK!

Hey there! It's October, and time for a new set of Creative Crew projects over on Splitcoaststampers!

There are four challenges each month, with a total of 5 projects I have to create. My card today fulfills three challenges: Sketch, Color, and Theme!

The theme for October is "Comfy & Cozy".

Here's the sketch:

Ccrewsketch-001

And here's the colors:
Ccrewsketch-002
I've been dying to use the chair from the In This World set. Although a rather formal design, it still looks "comfy" to me!

Stampin_up_in_this_world_carolpaynestamps1

I started with a Chocolate Chip card base, stamping the door, key, and "happiness"  with Crumb Cake. I tried stamping with Chocolate Chip, even stamped-off Chocolate Chip, but it was just too dark. I stamped the chair with Basic Black Archival ink, then colored with Tranquil Tide squeezed into the lid of the pad and applied with a Blender Pen. I added some floor under the chair legs with Crumb Cake. It's almost impossible to see in the picture, but I added Clear Wink of Stella to the chair frame, mainly because I didn't want to leave it bare and Chocolate Chip was too dark. I cut the chair with a Layering Circles Framelit, then matted it with Tranquil Tide cut with a scalloped circle from the Layering Circles Framelits.

Stampin_up_in_this_world_carolpaynestamps2

I added a strip of Tranquil Tide and one of Tangerine Tango, then added a piece of Vintage Crochet Trim from the Holiday Catalog. The trim added just the right amount of softness and tied in with the Basic Black-stamped chair. The scalloped circle focal image was added with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stampin_up_in_this_world_carolpaynestamps3

I added stamped-off doors in Crumb Cake to the inside Whisper White layer, then stamped the In This World sentiments with Basic Black ink.

Stampin_up_in_this_world_carolpaynestamps6

In This World is a carryover set from the last Annual Catalog. It has both masculine and feminine images. Go take a look at it and more in my online store: http://bit.ly/shopwithCarolPayneStamps

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 1st!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 1st!

Hey there! It's Sunday, which means it's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay! Today is a very busy Sunday for me. We have our annual Homecoming service at our church today, and my husband's nephew is preaching! There will be special music and "dinner on the grounds". I have some cooking to do this morning!

My swaps to share today are all created with the Carols of Christmas Bundle!

First, Susie Wood combined Carols of Christmas with this lovely Garden Green houndstooth print from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper pack!

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

She cut the evergreens from Be Merry paper and stamped the deer with Early Espresso on Crumb Cake before cutting with a Card Front Builder Thinlet die. The greeting is from the tried-and-true Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched with the Classic Label Punch. The little lined flourish under the greeting is also from Carols of Christmas.

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

Susie punched the background mat with the new Everyday Label Punch and finished it all off with a White Perfect Accent. Perfect!

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps3

Next,  this card arrived with no creator's name, which is a shame because it's simply gorgeous! Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Silver, and instant hit! The Woodland Textured Impressions folder and the 1/8" Silver Ribbon give the perfect finishing touches.

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

Ruth Anne Lilley combined Soft Sky, Whisper White, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter for her softly beautiful creation:

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps6

Monica Depung used the Carol's of Christmas Bundle with Layering Ovals Framelits:

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps8

Finally, another anonymous creator used Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder for her rustic card:

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917INSP Woodland Foxy Friends!

Stampin’ Up! CCREW917INSP Woodland Foxy Friends!

Hey there! Today I'm sharing another of my fall projects created for a Creative Crew Challenge at http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/

We were give an assortment of Fall-themed pictures to inspire our work. Here are the three photos I used:

Birch_trees_5c0378868d17830d8644ee669e28ea2ab12a6d77  Leaf_6f559920a584826a32d6c976707913976f683412  Fox_ee3142f241e61259d6800538d9005ec096778eff

I used the Woodland Textured Impression Embossing Folder, Foxy Friends stamps, and Colorful Seasons Bundle:

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps1

How did Carol do that? Before embossing the Sahara Sand layer with the Woodland folder, I stamped a Foxy Friends fox with Pumpkin Pie ink and the stump with Early Espresso directly on the negative inside of the folder. (by "negative" I'm referring to the side where the tree trunks are not raised up) After carefully inserting the card stock into the folder against the un-inked side and closing it, I ran it through the Big Shot. I used a Blender Pen to smooth and add a bit more color to the fox, then used a Sponge Dauber to add Whisper White Craft ink to the tree trunks.

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps2

I used my popped-up banner technique to display the Colorful Seasons greeting, framing each side with leaves created with the Colorful Seasons Bundle and the Polished Stone Technique. The leaves get their brilliant colors from Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, and Real Red ink refills. (I will be sharing more about Polished Stone in my Monday post) I sponged Early Espresso ink onto Touch of Nature Elements for the finishing touch.

Stampin_up_woodland_foxy_friends_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped inside with the Butterfly Basics "Happy birthday"; stamping a couple of small Colorful Seasons leaves inked using the Baby Wipe technique and the Polished Stone ink refills.

Stampin’ Up! So Many Shells!

Hey there! Happy Eclipse Day! Do you live near all of this craziness? We are just a few miles from the Totality Corridor, and yes, we are planning to head down into it today, despite the warnings of traffic gridlock and what not. My husband has been an amateur astronomer since he was a young boy, and has been waiting for this event for years!

Before we hit the road, I wanted to share this little card with you I created at the same time I was making a So Many Shells card a couple of months ago for a blog hop:

Stampin_up_so_many_shells_be_the_good_carolpaynestamps1

I subtly stamped the shells with Versamark on the Soft Sky layer, adhered to a Crumb Cake layer, then to a Soft Sky card base.

Stampin_up_so_many_shells_be_the_good_carolpaynestamps2

I love this sentiment, also included in So Many Shells. A double sentiment, actually! I looped a little bit of Linen Thread behind it, securing with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Stampin_up_so_many_shells_be_the_good_carolpaynestamps3

The shell images in this set are beautiful, but it's the sentiments that really made me want it for my collection!
