Stampin’ Up!Technique: Spotlighting with the Swallowtail!

Stampin’ Up!Technique: Spotlighting with the Swallowtail!

Happy Friday Stampers! Today I want to show you the second card for the Techniques part of my class tomorrow. This card uses the Swallowtail single "background" sized stamp and the butterfly punches to create the "spotlighting" effect:

Spotlighting 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

While the Spotlghting technique is not new, I have never seen anyone use a punch other than a cirlce or a square. Truth be told, this is a technique that I actually woke up thinking about a few weeks ago, so I'm very glad to have a chance to get this idea down on paper! I used the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly punches to achieve this effect.

Spotlighting 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

I finished off the inside with the butterfly stamp in the Sale-a-bration set, Bloomin' Marvelous, and a phrase from You are Loved.

Seems my stamping lately has been dominated by Island Indigo, but I love this color! I'm definitely going to miss it when Stampin' Up! retires this color at the end of May.

That's all for today! See you tomorrow for another Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Tea Shoppe Tea for Two!

Stampin’ Up! Tea Shoppe Tea for Two!

Good Morning! I'm off to have a "Liam Day" today, but before I go I want to show you one of the three Technique cards we will  be making Saturday at my Punch/Technique Class!

I combined last year's Occasions Catalog favorite, Tea Shoppe stamp set with this year's Tea for Two Designer Paper, then added Delicate Details Lace Tape Masking, a technique Shelli Gardner demonstrated for us at Leadership:

Tea for two 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

You can see a hint of the lace tape masking on the card front, but it's much more evident on the inside, where I also used words from Blooming with Kindness, one of my favorite birthday phrases!

Tea for two 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

Here's a quick overview of this technique:

Attach the lace tape to the cardstock "lightly", do not press it into the project so it will be easier to remove later. Sponge desired color over and around tape, filling in all the openings in the design of the tape. Crumb Cake was sponged on the Crumb Cake cardstock for this project.

Tea for two 6
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

Finally, gently remove the tape to expose the lovely sponged design! This tape comes in two different designs in the package, so you have more variety. The tape is a type of tacky adhesive-backed plastic, so you can't really color ON it, but you can sponge over it, remove the tape, then re-use the tape on anther project (just be sure you wipe off any excess ink that may remain on the tape).

There are TWO more Technique projects coming up the next two days, so check back tomorrow and Friday!

Until then, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! You Are My Sunshine!

Stampin’ Up! You Are My Sunshine!

Happy Wednesday! Whew! This week is starting to really fly! We had a mini-snowstorm here yesterday, but it's all gone now! I have an appointment with my eye surgeon this morning for a re-check on the right eye that was attended to last Friday. All seems to be going well, and I hope he agrees!

Today I have the third and final Punch project for this Saturday. It's a very ingenius use of the Petite Pennants Builder Punch – a Sun! The center of the sun is the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punch which has been embossed with the Houndstooth Textured Impressions Folder and then sponged with Daffodil Delight ink.

You are my sunshine 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013 '

The clouds are the frosting from the Cupcake Builder Punch which have also been embossed with the Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Folder. The greeting is from Rain or Shine in the Occasion Catalog.

You are my sunshine 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

I kept to Clean-and-Simple for the inside, stamping the single-stamp, Sunshine in Jet Black StazOn on the Daffodil Delight cardstock. I gave this layer a little more punch by matting it on a piece of Marina Mist.

Yesterday Liam came for a little visit, and surprised me by showing off his sitting-up skills!

Liam 2

He still prefers rolling to crawling, but he gets where he wants to go!

That's all for today. After I return from my appointment and errands, I will be working on the projects for CampJustWannaStamp, another monthly class that is happening at the same time as the Punch/Technique Class. There will be LOTS of fun cards to stamp, so RSVP to me ASAP!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Hello, My Friend!

Stampin’ Up! Hello, My Friend!

Good morning! Posting a little later than usual today, but I got in rather late from Lavon Gills' workshop in Fairfield, IL, last night. Had so much fun stamping and getting to know Lois, Joyce B.,Marty, Pat, Sandra,Joyce F.,Anita, Bonnie, & Cheryl!

Today's sample is another one we will be making this Saturday at my Punch/Technique Class here at my house. I CASED this from a sample on the Leadership display boards. I've been hoarding it and didn't show you the picture because I wanted to have you MAKE it! Isn't it so bright and cheery? Just what we need to pep us up on these gray, rainy (and sometimes snowy!) days!

Hello 1
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

These fun and easy flowers are made with all of the Scallop Circle Punches in the Stampin' Up! Catalogs, and then some! The leaves are from the Blossom Petals Builder Punch, and the centers are the Large Rhinestone Basic Jewels!

Hello 2
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

The sentiments are both from the My Friend stamp set, which also contains more images that NEED to be used soon!

Cardstock colors are Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals, Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, and Gumball Green.

All in all, this easy, versatile card just makes me HAPPY!

Stampin’Up! By the Tide Shaving Cream Shaker Card!

Stampin’Up! By the Tide Shaving Cream Shaker Card!

Happy Sunday morning! It's not a greatly happy morning for my sweetheart, he's taken a nasty cold, so in addition to his feeling quite "under the weather", I'm keeping my distance so hopefully I won't catch it!

My sample for you today was created by Raedean Shibata, a super-talented stamper in my monthly swap group! Raedean always has the most unusual, gorgeous cards, and this one lives up to her reputation!

She used the Shaving Cream Background Technique with the By the Tide stamp set from the Occasions catalog, then added a "shaker window" and added fun coordinating beads!

Stampin’ Up! Just Thinking & Zoo Review!

Stampin’ Up! Just Thinking & Zoo Review!

Good Morning! Hope you are having a good day! I had my right eye surgery yesterday, and frankly, if the right one had been done first I would have been much more nervous about having the other one done! The left one only felt like two little pokes on my eye, but today's stung like you had snapped my eye with a rubber band! Ouch! It also took five zaps with the laser to get the hole 100% open, so that was a bit nerve wracking, but I held firm and got through it. The doctor is confident my glaucoma problems should be taken care of, and now that the "goo" is pretty clear from my eye, all is going well.

Enough about me, you came to see something pretty, didn't you? I hope you are not disapointed by this:

Sharon house
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

Sharon House created this swap using the Just Thinking single stamp in the Occasions Catalog, free Sycamore Street Designer Paper, Window Frames Framelits, and a Basics Glimmer Brad!

My second sample to show you today was created by my dear friend, Ruth Bingle!

Ruth bingle
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

Ruth used Zoo Review, one of the few Annual Catalog stamp sets I actually DO NOT OWN! Are you shocked? Now, I must admit that I am a stamp-a-holic, but many of my stamps were free to me from sales and promotions that Stampin' Up! offers. Add to this the fact that I've been a demonstrator for 10+ years and that adds up to alot of stamps! The "Best Wishes" is from Petite Pairs.

I actually emailed Ruth to ask her how she created the "zebra effect" for the long panel of this card. She reported that she started with a base of Basic Black, then free-hand cut an identical-sized piece of Whisper White into the pieces to create the zebra stripes! After she adhered the white to the black she ran it all through the Big Shot inside the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder! Easy Peasy!

Before I leave you today, here's a picture my daughter, Jessica, took of my 14-month-old grandson, Jaxon, and I yesterday at Steak n Shake before I had my eye procedure:

542600_10151344452821374_560807730_n
Jaxon & I have fun when we are together! Someday when he's a big, grown up guy, we will have to show him this picture! I LOVE him! I'm so blessed to be able to spend fun times with my grandchildren!

That's all for today (at least as far as I know!) I'm planning to spend my day planning and creating for my March parties and classes, so it should be a fun day! If you have any questions about anything, just call me, text me, Facebook me (Carol Payne Stamps on Facebook) or email me!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
