Stampin’ Up! Monday Morning Mess!

Stampin’ Up! Monday Morning Mess!

Hey there! I was unable to get back home in time yesterday to add the names of the Sunday Swap Day card creators because the transmission went out in my car on the way home from TN yesterday. I know God was watching over me because:

1. The transmission went out AFTER I got through all of the construction/car wreck zone on I-24. If it had went out during the hour or so of just crawling along at 10 mph I would have had no where to go to get out of the way.

2. When I pulled over to the side of the road, I was only about 1/4 of a mile from an exit and it was DOWNHILL all the way to the exit! I was able to coast my car to the exit. When I got to the end of the off-ramp there were no cars coming and I was able to coast the car right into a filling station!

3. After we determined it was the transmission (my husband & I via the phone) my husband was able to borrow his brother's trailer to drive down and get the car and me. I was still about three hours from home, so I was prepared to wait.

4. I didn't have to wait by myself very long. My husband is the song leader at our church, so he had to call our pastor to let him know he would be missing the evening service and why. Our pastor's father-in-law, Tom Malone, lives just minutes away from where I was stranded. He called his FIL, who then called me. Bro. Tom picked me up from the filling station, took me to the evening service at his church, then he & his family took me out for a snack and kept me company until Mark arrived to load the van.

5. Mark had help from Bro. Malone and his son-in-law, Rick, to get the van loaded  and safely secured on the trailer, so we were on our way back to IL a little before 10 p.m.!

6. We arrived safely home around 1:30 a.m.

Needless to say, I slept in a little the morning, but when I got up I found this going on in my yard:

10941827_10204116400490886_3126015258303046914_n

I immediately snapped this picture, which prompted one of the workers to knock on the door to see if I was upset with them. They had tried to knock on the door and even rang the doorbell, but I was sound asleep until I work up "thinking" I had heard the doorbell. I think they thought I was a little bit crazy because I told them I just thought it was funny and ironic that on the day we have to leave my van out in the drive instead of under the carport is the day the tree trimmers come to trim our trees for the power company!

Another funny thought, isn't the "WORK AREA AHEAD"  sign they put in my yard supposed to be set up on a road????

Anyway, they were able to get the trees trimmed without any damage to my van, so it's all good!

That's all for now. I had a MOUNTAIN of laundry waiting for me when I got up this morning. My guys are pretty good about keeping things together around here when I'm gone, but the laundry got the best of them, I guess!

I'm going to go add the creator's names to yesterday's post and then get busy with my day! I have two parties this week and a presentation to make at the Spring Into Stamping event in Champaign, IL on Saturday! I have a lot to do!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! One of a Kind Wedding Shower!

Stampin’ Up! One of a Kind Wedding Shower!

Hey there! I know I’ve been mentioning the wedding shower we were throwing for a good family friend, and yesterday was the day! I have a few pictures to share of the day, including the decorations I was able to create using my Stampin’ Up! stuff!

First, let me say that while I did have a few ideas for decorating when the bride-to-be told me her wedding theme was “teal, red, burlap, & lace”, when we received the wedding invitation, my creativity was instantly sparked!

The invitation
How cute is this? !! The bride wanted to keep it simple, so here’s what I came up with:

The tables

I painted the pint-sized Ball Mason jars first with a coat of tan acrylic paint, let it dry for awhile, then added a lightly-brushed on coat of a sort-of Pool Party blue. We had runners of burlap left over from Alisa’s baby shower almost two years ago (her theme was “Toys From Her Childhood”), then we added the Pool Party Mason Jars and scattered Cherry Cobbler blooms that we had punched with the Pansy Punch and the Petite Petals Punch.

The layered blooms

Both blooms were curled slightly with a bone folder and then held together with a glue dot. Each of the two-layer blooms had a Pearl Basic Jewel in the center.

The jar candle

Each jar had a battery tea-light inside, and we added a heart punched with the Sweetheart Punch from Crumb Cake card stock that had been white heat-embossed with the Something Lacy Background. A little bit of Linen Thread was tied around the top of the jar, but the heart was actually attached with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

Stampin_up_something_lacy

I also painted a few quart jars and adhered hearts embossed with the same Something Lacy background cut with one of the Hearts Collection Framelits Dies (which are the Weekly Deals at 25% off through the end of today)

I sent a picture of the invitation to Rhonda McLearin, the lady  who makes our shower cakes. She coordinated the cake with everything else perfectly!

The shower cake
Overall I was very happy with the way all of it came together. I loved the rustic look of the painted canning jars and the colors turned out to be much softer than I originally anticipated.

And here are the current Weekly Deals, which expire tonight! (if you don’t want anything from this list, just wait till Tuesday. Stampin’ Up! puts out a fresh batch of Weekly Deals every Tuesday morning!)

Stampin’ Up! Little Sunshine Sophie for Taylor!

Stampin’ Up! Little Sunshine Sophie for Taylor!

Hey there! I was waiting until today to post this card I created last week to go with a baby gift I sent with my downline, Linda, to give to her new grandbaby, Taylor, who is scheduled to be born in Georgia TODAY!!!!

Taylor's mommy had chosen a Sophie squeeze toy on her gift registry, so I purchased that (and a Sophie teether and book!), then created this giraffe from punches and a framelit!

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_1 - Copy

The card base is a standard 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_2 - Copy

I used Natural White and Crisp Cantaloupe to match Sophie.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_3 - Copy

I used stamps from the Little Sunshine set for the greetings.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_2 - Copy

Sophie's neck is just a 3/4" wide straight piece of Naturals White, adhered to the card front with Fast Fuze adhesive, then scored by hand to match the folds of the card.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_4 - Copy

I've seen several versions of a punched giraffe before, but each one is just a little bit different depending on the supplies available!

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_6 - Copy

I used the hangar framelit from the Baby's First Framelit Dies to make Sophie's tail and her antlers:

Here's the supply list to  make your own Sophie. You can order everything from my Online Store here:

Stampin’ Up! Lego Block Card for Cohen!

Stampin’ Up! Lego Block Card for Cohen!

Hey there! I went to see the Cinderella movie with all three of my granddaughters last night. It's a clean, uplifting story. You'd think there couldn't be anything left to do with this classic fairytale, but Disney did it well! 10420311_10152846722561374_7820857114375260772_n
l to r: Ava Claire (9), Darcy Anne (5 weeks), Maddie Kate (13)

I created this card for my grandson, Cohen's,7th birthday in February. I made it without knowing that his birthday party theme was Legos!

Stampin_up_remembering_your_birthday_1 - Copy

It's a really simple card to put together, just corner-rounded edges, circle punches, sponging, a bit of White Chalk Marker, and a Remembering Your Birthday phrase cut with an On Film Framelit Die!

Stampin_up_remembering_your_birthday_2 - Copy

It's the sponging with Real Red ink on the Real Red cardstock that gives this card its' depth. Just a little swipe with the White Chalk Marker on each of the Lego circles is all it takes to finish it off!

Stampin_up_remebering_your_birthday_3 - Copy

Inside I kept it minimal with the companion phrase from Remembering Your Birthday and a stamp from the Life's Adventure Hostess Set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I lined the envelope with a piece of Maritime Designer Paper to continue the young-masculine look.

Stampin’ Up! Painted Petals Ornamental Tag on a Card!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Petals Ornamental Tag on a Card!

Hey there! It's Monday, which means a whole new week stretching before us to stamp! I have a couple of stamping parties scheduled this week, and a downline meeting on Friday night. Wednesday afternoon I'm going to go with Kimberly and Alisa to Jessica's studio for Lando & Darcy's photo sessions. It should be a fun week!

Today's card is a modified CASE of a swap by Tamie Ackerson:

Stampin_up_painted_petals_1 - Copy

I used Rose Red for the main color, used the Ornate Tag Topper Punch, added two extra rows of baby tulips along the bottom of the tag, and tied a strip cut from the Whisper White Jute Ribbon on the top of the tag!

Stampin_up_painted_petals_3 - Copy

After I tied the ribbon strip twice, I fanned out the fibers to make a unique bow. This ribbon is a very open-weave, so it was easy to cut a 4-thread-wide strip with my craft scissors. This ribbon might seem a bit pricey at $8.95 for only 5 yards, but when you cut it into strips you can get a lot more out of it!

Stampin_up_painted_petals_5 - Copy

Inside I used a sentiment from my fav SAB set, Simply Wonderful, then stamped a couple more of the roses in the bottom corner. I lined the envelope with a bit of Painted Blooms Designer Paper.

Stampin_up_painted_petals_2 - Copy

Here's the supply list for this card. You can purchase everything you need to make this card from my online store: http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/carolpayne/

Oh, I wanted to share this with you too. Lando and Darcy came to visit yesterday afternoon (with their mommies and families too!) It was the first time Lando and Darcy were together ever, so the girls had to take a pic of them snuggled together in the Boppy pillow:

11043279_1047819558578843_675778394879325916_n

Lando will be 2 months tomorrow and Darcy is exactly 1 month today. Wow! Lando weighed almost a pound more than Darcy when he was born, but still, what a difference a month makes! They are both still little pee-wees, though!

Just had to share a little Grammie pride! Thanks for putting up with me!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
