Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem “Stamped” Candles!

Hey there! The last project I have to share from my Night in Bethlehem presentation at Vacation Stamping School is a set of candles I stamped with the set:

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_candles_carolpaynestamps1

To "stamp" on a candle is really very easy. You don't stamp directly on the curved side of the candle. Instead, you stamp your images on ordinary tissue (wrapping) paper that you have cut in a strip long enough to go all the way around the candle and just slightly as wide as the candle is tall.

I stamped my images all together on the white tissue paper first, then wrapped the tissue around the candle. I then wrapped a piece of waxed paper tightly over the tissue paper. I held both layers tightly around the candle while using my Heat Tool to quickly heat/melt the tissue paper onto the candle surface. The wax on the waxed paper helps to seal the tissue/images onto the candle. After heating as far as I could with the first piece of waxed paper, I wrapped a second piece of waxed paper around the candle, holding it tight from the side already heated to melt and seal the rest of the tissue/images.

After I finished heat-setting the tissue on to the candles I tied Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edge Ribbon into a bow around each one.

"Stamping" on candles has been around for ages, but it's fun to re-visit oldie-but-goodie techniques with new products!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Ornament!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Ornament!

Hey there! Now that I'm done sharing  my Creative Crew projects, I can finish sharing the Night in Bethlehem projects I made for Vacation Stamping School!

My project today was inspired by a Christmas card idea I found last year. It has no watermark so I can't give anyone credit for the inspiration, but here's the idea and my project side by side:
Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps1
The project on the left used retired designer paper, stamps, and dies, but the background paper is what inspired my ornament with the "cracked glass" technique!

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps2

I glue-dotted Gold Metallic Thread between two gold Foil Snowflakes (there are also silver in the package) for my ornament base. After stamping the Holy Family with black in on Very Vanilla and punching with the Everyday Label Punch, I sponged the edges with black ink. I let the ink dry for a bit, then pressed a Versamark ink pad directly on the whole piece, sprinkled with Clear embossing powder, and then heated with my Heat Tool. I repeated this process 5 times to get a thick layer of clear embossing over the image. I then popped it into the freezer for about 10 minutes, then removed and immediately twisted the paper to make the frozen embossing layers crack. I put it back in the freezer for another 10 minutes and repeated the cracking upon removal.

I sponged the cracks with Soft Suede ink to help them show up more, then adhered to the gold Foil Snowflake with several dimensionals. I cut a snowflake from a Gold Foil sheet with the smallest die in the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlets. After adhering with a glue dot, I added a single pearl.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_ornament_carolpaynestamps3

On the flip side I used the cracked glass technique over the Night in Bethlehem sentiment. This handmade keepsake could possibly become a family heirloom!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Double Z-fold!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Double Z-fold!

Hey there! We had a wonderful day celebrating all of our August birthdays yesterday, but now it's back to school and the work week! Tonight I am having a Shoe Box card swap with my team, The Yes Mam! Stampers, and I can hardly wait!

The next Night in Bethlehem creation I shared at Vacation Stamping School was a Double Z-fold. I paired the Night in Bethlehem bundle with Merry Little Christmas Designer Paper and used Lots of Labels Framelitsto cut the greeting layers.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps1

This is the first project that I used the coordinating framelits to cut out the Holy Family. Such a great look, and super easy to cut with my Big Shot!

Stampin_up_night_i_bethelehem_carolpaynestamps

The little die-cuts are so easy to adhere with the new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals!

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps8

I cut three pieces of the Bethlehem skyline with the thinlet from the bundle, attaching the pieces with Tear & Tape Adhesive.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps2

"Aerial view" lol!

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps4

I cut the Nativity Star and greeting mats from Silver Glimmer Paper.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps5

I added an "inside" layer to the back of the card with Smoky Slate and Whisper White. There has to be somewhere to sign it, right?

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Slider!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Slider!

Hey there! Another of my favorite projects I shared with Vacation Stamping School were these two slider cards I created with the Night in Bethlehem set:

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps1

First I created this Versamark Resist version. To do the Versamark Resist technique, I stamped the "milky way" stars image from Star of Light and the Nativity star from Night in Bethlehem with Versamark on glossy card stock. I then used a Sponge Brayer to roll first Soft Sky and then Night of Navy over the stamped images. After I got the color intensity I wanted I then rubbed the images gently with a Kleenex to remove the excess ink. The Versamark "resisted" the ink, leaving soft star images.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps2
For my "stepped-up" version I heat embossed the same images on glossy card stock with white and silver embossing powder before brayering the same Soft Sky/Night of Navy colors over them. After rubbing away the excess ink with a Kleenex I then sponged the edges with Basic Black ink. I mounted the piece on Basic Black, then added it to a Basic Black/Merry Music Specialty Paper layer that I punched with the Classic Label Punch to create the slider opening.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps5
I stamped the "milky way" image with stamped-off Night of Navy ink and then stamped the Night in Bethlehem sentiment with Basic Black ink on a 2" x 4 1/2" strip that I punched one end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create the end to attach the ribbon pull.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps6
I added a 1/4" wide strip to both sides of the other end of the tag to create a "stop" so the tag won't fall out of the opening.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps7

I finished off the tag with Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edged Ribbon for the pull.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps8

Inside I finished with the Star of Light "milky way" and Night in Bethlehem images:
