Stampin’ Up! Love What You Do Emboss Resist!

Hey there! Today I have some cards that feature the stamp set from this month's "Share What You Love" promotion, some of the new In Colors, AND the Emboss Resist technique!

The base of this card is my favorite new color, Grapefruit Grove! This color is such a rich, deep peachy color, I'm in love!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps2

After stamping everything with Versamark and heat-embossing with white embossing powder, I used a sponge dauber to add Grapefruit Grove over all of the blooms. I rubbed the embossed images with a tissue to remove the ink that was resisted by the glossy embossing. So simple but so pretty!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps3

This sentiment is also from Love What You Do! I tied the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle ribbon in an easy knot. This card was quick to make!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps4

All of the images used for this card are from Love What You Do!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps5

Another pretty new In Color is Call Me Clover!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps6

I used the same Emboss Resist technique for this one.

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps8

To accent the greeting I simply rubbed a bit of Call Me Clover ink under it!

Stampin_up_share_what_you_love_carolpaynestamps7

I made this one to be another thank you card. I seem to always need them!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Slider!

Stampin’ Up! Night in Bethlehem Slider!

Hey there! Another of my favorite projects I shared with Vacation Stamping School were these two slider cards I created with the Night in Bethlehem set:

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps1

First I created this Versamark Resist version. To do the Versamark Resist technique, I stamped the "milky way" stars image from Star of Light and the Nativity star from Night in Bethlehem with Versamark on glossy card stock. I then used a Sponge Brayer to roll first Soft Sky and then Night of Navy over the stamped images. After I got the color intensity I wanted I then rubbed the images gently with a Kleenex to remove the excess ink. The Versamark "resisted" the ink, leaving soft star images.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps2
For my "stepped-up" version I heat embossed the same images on glossy card stock with white and silver embossing powder before brayering the same Soft Sky/Night of Navy colors over them. After rubbing away the excess ink with a Kleenex I then sponged the edges with Basic Black ink. I mounted the piece on Basic Black, then added it to a Basic Black/Merry Music Specialty Paper layer that I punched with the Classic Label Punch to create the slider opening.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps5
I stamped the "milky way" image with stamped-off Night of Navy ink and then stamped the Night in Bethlehem sentiment with Basic Black ink on a 2" x 4 1/2" strip that I punched one end with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create the end to attach the ribbon pull.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps6
I added a 1/4" wide strip to both sides of the other end of the tag to create a "stop" so the tag won't fall out of the opening.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_slider_carolpaynestamps7

I finished off the tag with Silver 3/8" Metallic-Edged Ribbon for the pull.

Inside I finished with the Star of Light "milky way" and Night in Bethlehem images:

Stampin’ Up! Stamping My Way Through the Catalog, Soft Sayings Emboss Resist!

Stampin’ Up! Stamping My Way Through the Catalog, Soft Sayings Emboss Resist!

Hey there! I myself am surprised at how many days I have blogged about the Soft Sayings card kit. Generally I consider a card kit to be very limited; when the supplies in the kit are used up you are done, but because this kit included stamps that is not the case!

My card today is the last one with the Soft Sayings kit, at least for awhile, but it's a pretty one! I embossed the bloom with clear powder on Glossy card stock, then used a Sponge Brayer to roll Flirty Flamingo ink all over. After I achieved the ink intensity I wanted, I then rubbed over the embossed blooms with a Kleenex to remove excess ink.

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_emboss_resist_carolpaynestamps1

I used the same technique on the greeting, and created a loopy bow by wrapping Whisper White 1/8" Sheer Ribbon around two of my fingers, then tying around it with the same ribbon that I had also wrapped around the glossy card layer. The greeting was punched with the Pretty Label Punch.

Stampin_up_soft_sayings_emboss_resist_carolpaynestamps2

Inside I used another of the great sentiments from Soft Sayings, stamped with black ink. I finished the layer by stamping  couple more blooms with Flirty Flamingo ink.

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day!

Hey there stampers! It's time for Sunday Swap Day, yay!

First, fellow Stamper's Dozen Blog hopper Judy Garza gold heat-embossed the Definitely Dahlia stamp on Party Animal Designer Series Paper for an elegant look.

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps1

Phrases from Thoughts & Prayers and Gold Metallic Enamel Shapes are the finishing touches.

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps2

Next, Janace Charbonneau used the "split negative" technique for her Definitely Dahlia card.

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps3

To accomplish the "split negative" technique, she stamped Definitely Dahlia twice, once with Sweet Sugarplum and once with Perfect Plum, on Whisper White squares. She then cut both squares in half so she could put them back together with the colors switched. Sweet!

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps4

Perfect Plum bumblebees, cut with a Detailed Dragonfly Thinlet, add depth and dimension.

Kathy Johnson used the "emboss resist" technique with Sweet Sugarplum, Basic Black, and Whisper White for her creation.

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps5

A Rose Wonder phrase is accented by a Stitched Shapes oval and a Layering Ovals scallop oval, as well as a Basic Black butterfly punched from the Bitty Butterfly punch, which is retiring.

Stampin_up_definitely_dahlia_carolpaynestamps6

Finally, a nameless-but-lovely swap using Floral Phrases, Papillion Potpourri (retiring), and the Bitty Butterfly and the Elegant Butterfly punches (both also retiring)

Stampin_up_floral_phrases_carolpaynestamps1

After stamping with Night of Navy, Mint Macaron was sponged for a soft look.

Stampin_up_floral_phrases_carolpaynestamps2

The creator also used Dragonfly Dreams elements to pull it all together.

Stampin’ Up! Paisleys & Posies For An October Class!

Stampin’ Up! Paisleys & Posies For An October Class!

Hey there! If all goes as planned, I hope to hold a Paisleys & Posies class on Friday, October 14th at my house. Class attendees will pre-pay for the class so I can order the Paisleys & Posies Bundle and the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Paper for each of them before class so they will have their own stamps to use during the session.

Today's card uses the Watercolor Resist technique:

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_watercolor_resist_carolpaynestamps1

The Paisleys & Posies images are embossed on Watercolor Paper with clear embossing powder, then washed over with Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon, and Rich Razzleberry using an AquaPainter.

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_watercolor_resist_carolpaynestamps2

Rich Razzleberry ribbon from teh 3/8" Ribbon Trio Pack, a Delicate White Doily, snippets of Petals & Paisleys Specialty paper, and Copper Metallic Thread combine to create a pleasing hodgepodge of embellishment.

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_watercolor_resist_carolpaynestamps3

The emboss-resist technique combined with watercoloring with the AquaPainter is easy-peasy! I used Tear & Tape Adhesive to adhere after watercoloring as the dampness of the paper warps it a bit.

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_watercolor_resist_carolpaynestamps4

Inside I used the same Watercolor Resist technique, but I stamped the sentiment with Night of Navy Classic ink instead of heat-embossing. This resulted in the ink blurring a bit, so I'm thinking I will need to work on an alternate inside for class.

Stampin! Up! Paisleys & Posies Emboss Resist CASE!

Stampin! Up! Paisleys & Posies Emboss Resist CASE!

Hey there! While browsing the Holiday Catalog I found a sample on page 46 using Paisleys & Posies stamps I just had to CASE. In case you are not familiar with the term, CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything. Stampin' Up! puts loads of samples in all of their catalogs for the express purpose to inspire you and for you to copy, aka CASE!

Stampin_up_paisleys& posies_carolpaynestamps1

It was easy to make this card because Stampin' Up! listed all of the supplies used in the "You Can Make It" section right beside the sample! I made two versions. Can you see the subtle differences?

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_carolpaynestamps2

I switched out the Delightful Dijon ink for Crushed Curry, which is a little brighter and cheerier.

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_carolpaynestamps4

After heat-embossing the paisley and medallion images with clear powder on Shimmery White card stock, I used a Sponge Brayer to roll Crushed Curry ink, then used a second sponge brayer to roll on Rich Razzleberry. After I achieved the color intensity I wanted, I rubbed it with a Kleenex to remove the excess ink on the embossing that would never have dried.

Stampin_up_paisleys_&_posies_carolpaynestamps3

It was easy to finish this card with all of the sentiments and additional images in the Paisleys & Posies set!
