Stampin’ Up! Little Sunshine Sophie for Taylor!

Stampin’ Up! Little Sunshine Sophie for Taylor!

Hey there! I was waiting until today to post this card I created last week to go with a baby gift I sent with my downline, Linda, to give to her new grandbaby, Taylor, who is scheduled to be born in Georgia TODAY!!!!

Taylor's mommy had chosen a Sophie squeeze toy on her gift registry, so I purchased that (and a Sophie teether and book!), then created this giraffe from punches and a framelit!

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_1 - Copy

The card base is a standard 4 1/4" x 11", scored at 5 1/2" and 8 1/4".

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_2 - Copy

I used Natural White and Crisp Cantaloupe to match Sophie.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_3 - Copy

I used stamps from the Little Sunshine set for the greetings.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_2 - Copy

Sophie's neck is just a 3/4" wide straight piece of Naturals White, adhered to the card front with Fast Fuze adhesive, then scored by hand to match the folds of the card.

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_4 - Copy

I've seen several versions of a punched giraffe before, but each one is just a little bit different depending on the supplies available!

Stampin_up_little_sunshine_6 - Copy

I used the hangar framelit from the Baby's First Framelit Dies to make Sophie's tail and her antlers:

Stampin Up! Guy Greetings!

Stampin Up! Guy Greetings!

Hey there! It's Friday, yay!

Today I used Guy Greetings in the Occasions Catalog. (Don't let the catalog picture fool you! Not all images are shown actual size. In the catalog they look tiny except for the few shown full size, but they are ALL full size!) It's also one of those "all inclusive" sets. With images AND words, you don't need another set to make a great card!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_1

I stamped the car image with Early Espresso ink, stamping again, and again, "huffing", not blowing, my breath on the stamp each time to re-moisten the remaining ink to get the lighter images. I stamped a piece of Typset Specialty Designer Series Paper, but you could use the same technique with plain Very Vanilla card stock to get the "custom designer paper" look!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_3

My brother's birthday is coming up in May. He doesn't read my blog, so maybe this will be his card?

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_2

Guy Greetings comes in wood-mount, clear-mount, and photopolymer. Photopolymer lets you see through the clear blocks for exact image stamping. Photopolymers are also flexible; you can bend and curve them as you stamp. Sometimes, however, you DON'T want the stamp to curve.  My solution is to lay the stamp along one of the lines on my grid sheet, image-side down, straightening the stamp as needed. I then press my clear block on top of the stamp to attach.

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_4 - Copy

I get straight words every time!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_5 - Copy

The final technique I used is the "Motion Stamping" technique, which is very similar to the "Stamp and Huff" technique I used on the custom designer paper panel. To get the look of motion, I stamped the card with full-strength Early Espresso on the far left, huffed, then stamped again in the middle with the car overlapping the first stamping about a third of the way, then huffed and stamped a final time behind but overlapping the second stamping. I've used this technique for years with cars, bicycles, balls, and horses, but it's A LOT easier with the clear photopolymers!

Stampin_up_guy_greetings_6 - Copy

That's it for now. I'm posting the supply list below so you can order what you need in my Online Store:

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Petal Potpourri!

Stampin’ Up! Vintage Petal Potpourri!

Hey there! How's your week going? I've had a pretty good one so far, I've accomplished quite a bit on my "to do" list and hope to check some more things off today!

One of the things on my list is prep for my Birthday Card Buffet later this month. Today's card using the Petal Potpourri and Lovely Amazing You  stamp sets has a soft, vintage look, even though it doesn't have ANY sponging on it!

Stampin_up_soft_sky_petal_potpourri_1 - Copy

I KNOW I can't believe no sponging either! I thought it was a RULE that in order for it to look vintage it had to have at least SOME sponging, but here we have it. It's vintage-y, sponging or no sponging!

Here's a trick to remember when you are combining stamping and dry embossing with a folder and the Big Shot: ALWAYS STAMP BEFORE YOU EMBOSS. Trying to stamp on the bumpy surface of embossed card stock is a nightmare. While there aren't very many RULES in stamping, I can give you three right off the top of my head:

1. ALWAYS STAMP FIRST, THEN PUNCH AND/OR CUT WITH A BIG SHOT FRAMELIT.

2. ALWAYS STAMP FIRST before you adhere to the card. There are TWO sides to every piece of card stock. Stampin' Up! high-quality inks do not bleed through our high-quality card stock, so you ALWAYS HAVE TWO SIDES TO STAMP ON.

3. ALWAYS STAMP FIRST, THEN EMBOSS with a Textured Impressions Folder.

Here's the greeting from this card inside the Lovely Lace Textured Impressions Folder:

Stampin_up_lovely_lace

Inside I combined the "you are amazingly Amazing" phrase from  Painted Petals with "happy birthday" from And Many More. I don't think I ever realized how pretty Sahara Sand ink actually is until I started using it for this card. I'm usually more of a bold color girl, especially for stamping words, but I find I love Sahara Sand!

That 's about it for now. I am listing the supplies for this card below so you can refer to it when you shop in my Online Store:

Stampin’ Up! April Online Class Projects!

Stampin’ Up! April Online Class Projects!

Hey there! It may be April first, but this post is no April Fool's joke! Yesterday we finished Sale-a-bration 2015 and we really finished it off with a flourish! Lots of online orders placed yesterday, even a few online workshop orders. I'm so glad so many of you saw the value of choosing SAB freebies and getting Stampin' Rewards at the same time! I will be busy for awhile getting your Thank-You Packets in the mail!

As I promised in my newsletter yesterday, here's the three Online Birthday Class Cards for April. I wanted bright and cheery for this month!

Stampin_up_online_class_april

Some of you have been requesting a tutorial for the Herringbone Technique on the left, so that will be part of the April Class.

I will be posting the individual cards and the supply lists in the next few days.

What do you have to do to receive these cards and full color instructions to make more?

Simply place your order of at least $35 (before tax & shipping) in my online store:

www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

by the 15th of the month using this hostess code:RYZQSRMN

Your Stampin' Up! order will be shipped direct to your door, and I will ship you 6 projects, two each of the three designs shown above, including instructions and envelopes sometime after the 26th of the month.

Participate in this class for 6 consecutive months and you will be receive either one stamp set of any value or two hostess sets of any value from the current catalog(s). You get to choose!

This class is on-going. No need to tell me you are participating, you only need to send me your free set(s) choice(s) and place your order with the Hostess Code every month! Easy-peasy!

Any order of any amount will receive a Thank You Project Packet from me. You don't have to make a $35 order to get a thank-you!

That's all for now. Now that April is here I have to get serious about my taxes. Sigh.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Petal Potpourri!

Stampin’ Up! Petal Potpourri!

Hey there! I played around today with a new (to me) layout, and used the Petal Potpourri Bundle to create this:

Stampin_up_petal_potpourri_1 - Copy

This card is very different from what I had in mind when I started, but I really like how it turned out!

I started with a Naturals White card base, layered with Blackberry Bliss. I added sections of Wisteria Wonder and Perfect Plum stamped with Blackberry Bliss and one of the Petal Potpourri blooms. After heat embossing another bloom with white powder on the vellum layers I attached them to the Wisteria Wonder sections with glue dots.

Stampin_up_petal_potpourri_4 - Copy

A wrap of Whisper White 5/8" Organza Ribbon anchors the Wisteria Wonder and Vellum-white embossed blooms, punched with the Flower Medallion Punch. The Petal Potpourri set and the Flower Medallion Punch are bundled to save 15% when you buy them together. I finished the bloom with a Something Borrowed Embellishment, also from the Occasions Catalog.

A greeting from Four You, stamped and cut out with the banner die from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlets lets the card front "speak".

Stampin_up_petal_potpourri_6 - Copy

Inside I continued with Blackberry Bliss-inked blooms and a sentiment from the tried-and-true, Remembering Your Birthday.

I really like the possibilities with this layout and hope to do more with it in the near future. This card is going to be a selection at my next Birthday Card Buffet on April 10 & 11!

Here's the supply list for today's card. You can order everything to make your own from my online store:

A greeting from Four You, stamped and cut out with the banner die from the Gift Card Envelope & Trims Thinlets lets the card front "speak".
