Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place at the Country Club!

Stampin’ Up! Peaceful Place at the Country Club!

Hey there! Today's card is going to a special guy I've loved literally all my life; my big brother, Don. Don is truly my BIG brother in every way. 6' 3", and 18 years older, he tells the story when I was born at the beginning of his Senior Year. He went to football practice that evening and the guys thought he was joking when he mentioned he had a brand-new baby sister! Don joined the Navy when I was less than a year old, so my first vivid memory of him was after he discharged and came home to live with us. He took me with him to the barbershop where they gave me a sucker. Thankfully it was one of those "safety suckers" because when I started to choke, he leaped from the scissors to pluck the sucker out of my throat! My mother passed away 3 weeks before my 11th birthday, a victim of her own vice, smoking. She had both lung cancer and an inoperable brain tumor (in 1970), and my brother and his wife helped with my care during my mom's multiple hospital stays. To say I was close to my brother growing up would be putting it mildly!

Next Saturday is his 79th birthday. He lives in a retirement apartment with his wife and is blind from diabetes complications. He calls me almost every day, so I keep him up-to-date with all of the goings-on in my family. I created this card especially for him!

An avid outdoorsman, I wanted to use Peaceful Place for his card. I paired it with Country Club Designer Series paper, for a masculine look!

Stampin’ Up! Ornate Garden So Sentimental!

Stampin’ Up! Ornate Garden So Sentimental!

Hey there! Today I have another creation with the Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper. I paired it with a fun fold and the So Sentimental Stamp set and the Stitched So Sweetly Dies:

Stampin_up_so_sentimental_carolpaynestamps2

This card is a 4" x 11" strip of Ornate Garden Specialty Designer Series Paper adhered to a 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" Basic Black card base, scored at  3 1/4" and 8 1/2" to create the front flaps. The flip side of this paper is white with gold embossed blooms, so I added a  1 1/4" x 4"strip of the gold embossed side  to the top flap, added a 1/4" x 4" Basic Black strip, then added the So Sentimental greeting cut with a Sweetly Stitched Die and layered on another Sweetly Stitched Shape. I added a single Gilded Gem and a knotted piece of 3/8" Black Glittered Organdy Ribbon (I know the supply list says it is 5/8", but that is a typo in the program I subscribe to, it really is 3/8"!)

Stampin_up_so_sentimental_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I stamped another sentiment from So Sentimental on white, then cut it with another Stitched So Sweetly Die.

Stampin_up_so_sentimental_carolpaynestamps4

I just wanted you to see how cute this rectangle is cut with one of those dies!

Stampin’ Up! Terracotta Tile Ornate Style!

Stampin’ Up! Terracotta Tile Ornate Style!

Hey there! Today I have a new card created with the Ornate Style stamp set, Ornate Garden Specialty Designer paper, and Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder! Are you surprised I'm stamping with these products again? lol!

I love how this card turned out!

Stampin_up_ornate_style_carolpaynestamps2

I heat embossed the large floral spray with white on Terracotta Tile, then cut out with my Paper Snips. I used a Blender Pen to add Terracotta Tile to some of the blooms and White Craft ink to the smaller ones.

Stampin_up_ornate_style_carolpaynestamps4

I heat embossed "Hello there" from Here's a Card, then double-punched with the Classic Label.

Stampin_up_ornate_style_carolpaynestamps7
After heat-embossing "Happy Birthday", I punched with the Label Me Fancy punch.

Stampin_up_orante_style_carolpaynestamps6

Inside I stamped another sentiment from Here's a Card with Terracotta Tile.

Stampin_up_ornate_style_carolpaynestamps6

I really like how all of the folds of this card provide multiple layers to build the sentiments of the card. I have all of the measurements and directions posted below for you to access for free!

Stampin’ Up! Music From The Heart Baby Wipes Technique!

Stampin’ Up! Music From The Heart Baby Wipes Technique!

Hey there! I created today's card with the Baby Wipes technique. Traditionally a technique done with glossy card stock, I decided to use regular plain Whisper White and it turned out great!

I used Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue, and Night of Navy in refills on folded pieces of baby wipe to create the swirls of color over the retiring Music From the Heart images heat embossed with clear powder.

Stampin_up_music_from_the_heart_carolpaynestamps1

I think I forgot to use my embossing buddy on the white paper before I stamped and embossed, which is why I have some random "scatter" flecks between some of the images. Stampin'Up! is retiring the Embossing Buddy. If you are planning to do any heat embossing I would urge you to order one today before they are gone! They are just the thing you need to help your embossed images to heat up clean!

Stampin_up_music_from_the_heart_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped the greeting and the piano keys with black on on white, then hand-cut them out. Don't be afraid to cut things with your Paper Snips scissors. I know it's often called "fussy cutting", which sounds like misery, but with just a little practice you can think of it as "fancy cutting" and it can definitely change your perspective and make your project possibilities grow!
