Stampin’ Up! Nuts About Squirrels!

Stampin’ Up! Nuts About Squirrels!

Hey there! Today I am sharing a couple of cards I created with the Nuts About Squirrels stamp set. I saw a set of cards posted by Stampin' Up! online featuring this stamp set along with the Hello Harvest Bundle and Fancy Frames Dies and couldn't resist making a couple of my own versions!

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels1

For my first card I stamped the squirrel using the Stamparatus to get a good solid inking, then hand-cut it out with my Paper Snips. I stamped the pumpkin from Hello Harvest with Soft Succulent ink, then colored with the Light Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends alcohol marker. I added Light Crumb Cake to the pumpkin stem, then used the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter to remove some of the Soft Succulent ink in the center of the pumpkin.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels2

After cutting out the pumpkin with a Rustic Pumpkin Die, I added it over the leafy rectangle I had cut with the Fancy Frames Dies and the Soft Suede leaf from the Leaf Label & Amber Gem pack. I used some of the Amber Gems too for some sparkle, and tucked a couple of Open Leaf Trinkets between the layers, securing with glue dots.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels3

I added some subtle shimmer to the pumpkin with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. I also highlighted the squirrel's eye with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels5

I stamped a greeting from Nuts About Squirrels with Cajun Craze ink on a scrap of Basic White, then used my Paper Snips again to cut banner points on each end.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels4

The second card I created I cut the leafy rectangle from Soft Succulent, adding a layer of Adhesive Sheet to the back before running through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine. When I removed the protective backing of the Adhesive Sheet the cut pieces mostly fell out with it and it was ready to adhere to the card front! I stamped the squirrel again with Cajun Craze ink and the Stamparatus, then cut with one of the Stylish Shapes Dies. This saved a lot of time and stress vs. hand-cutting with the snips.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels6

Instead of using the Leaf Label & Amber Gems pack I stamped the leaf from the Hello Harvest stamp set with Soft Suede ink. I stamped again without re-inking, then cut them out with the coordinating Rustic Pumpkin die. I added copper pearls from the Brushed Metallic Dots pack.

Stampin_up_nuts_about_squirrels8

Inside I stamped another sentiment from Nuts About Squirrels and added a couple more leaves to tie in with the card front.

Stampin’ Up! Charming Sentiments Baby Card!

Stampin’ Up! Charming Sentiments Baby Card!

Hey there! Today I want to share with you the card I created for the gifts I gave to my daughter-in-law, Faith, at the baby shower I helped give for baby Wesley.

I found some adorable paper at Hobby Lobby to wrap the gifts, then looked through my stamps and dies to see what I had to coordinate. I decided to use the Enchanting Details Dies and Charming Sentiments stamps to create my card.

Stampin_up_charming_sentiments_carolpaynestamps1

I started with a card base of Basic Gray, then added a 5 3/8" x 4 1/8
layer of Mango Melody. Before I added the 4" x 5 1/4" layer of Smoky Slate I used a Blending Brush to softly swirl Basic Gray around the edges. I then added the garland die-cut from Balmy Blue card stock, the moon & stars die-cut from Mango Melody, and the Cloud punched from Basic White. I used a Black Stampin' Write Marker to add the faux stitching around the cloud and the sleepy face. To make adhering all of the die-cuts easier, I added Adhesive Sheet to the back of the card stock before die-cutting.

Stampin_up_charming_sentiments_carolpaynestamps2

Before adhering the moon & stars I sponged the edges with Mango Melody ink. I used the same Basic Black marker to add another sleeping profile face and a q-tip to softly add a bit of cheek color with Polished Pink ink.

Stampin_up_charming_sentiments_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped the greeting from Charming Sentiments with Basic Gray ink. I added a single Heart Pearl to finish off the front.

Stampin_up_charming_sentiments_carolpaynestamps4

I stamped another sentiment from Charming Sentiments on the inside and used the moon & stars die to cut a stencil to sponge the shapes on the inside.

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Barn Bay Window!

Stampin’ Up! Christmas Barn Bay Window!

Hey there! I'm back again! After a few more crazy weeks, I'm hoping things are settling down to just normal Christmas Crazy. I have the last craft fair of the year out of the way and no more stamping classes scheduled until January, so now  I just need to finish my Christmas shopping, wrap, decorate, and cook! Not too much to do at all! lol!

Today I want to share with you a card I created for my November Christmas Card Class with the Christmas Barn Bundle. I used a fun-fold called the Bay Window Fold.

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps1

I stamped the barn with Soft Suede ink on Basic White, cut with the coordinating Bar die, then colored with a Light Real Red Stampin' Blends marker. After coloring I then used the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter on the red to lighten the color to give the barn more of a weathered look. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the roof and the ground for some subtle sparkle. I adhered the barn to a rectangle of Snowy White Velvet card stock to continue the snowy look.e

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped the wreath and the trees with Bermuda Bay ink on Snow White Velvet, (discounted on the Last Chance Retiring List) then cut with the coordinating Barn Dies. I added them to the scene with mini stampin' dimensionals.

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps5

I also added swipes of Clear Wink of Stella to the trees and the wreath for more sparkle.

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps4

I colored the sleigh and horse with Stampin' Blends, then cut with the Barn Die that coordinates.

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps3

The greeting, stamped with Bermuda Bay ink of Basic White, was cut out with another Barn Die that fits the phrase perfectly!

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps6

Here's the Bay Window card full-size. I added coordinating prints from the Storybook Gnomes 12 x 12 Designer Series Paper. This paper is also on the Last Chance Retiring List. It is currently  not discounted but is while-supplies-last.

Stampin_up_christmas_barn_carolpaynestamps7

I added another strip of Basic White to the back side for a perfect place for signatures. The sentiment is another from the Christmas Barn stamp set.

Note: when you click on the links to my online store for the supplies for this card you will find the discounted amounts for the items from the Last Chance Retiring List that are discounted. Not every item on the Last Chance Retiring List are discounted, but ALL are while-supplies-last.
(Ordering the Christmas Barn stamps and the Barn dies does save you a little bit more instead of ordering it all in the bundle)

Stampin’ Up! Full of Love!

Stampin’ Up! Full of Love!

Hey there! I've been MIA again for awhile, and to be completely honest, I've kind of gotten out of my "groove" of posting on my blog. After the fiasco of Typepad being down for almost 3 weeks in October it's been really hard to get back in the habit, but I do have some cards lined up to share with you and tons of swaps to share from my monthly swap as well as the swapping I did at the Stampin' Up! OnStage Local I attended in Indianapolis, Indiana earlier this month, so don't give up on me, please!

The card I have to share today I created for the monthly swap I have participated in for many, many years. Most month's have some sort of theme, or at least a direction to go with while we are creating, and this months' theme was to create a card with a tag. I used an Annual Catalog stamp set, Full of Love, and the Very Best Trio Punch from the July-December Mini Catalog:

Stampin_up_full_of_love_carolpaynestamps1

I started by stamping the floral letter image with Memento ink on the Basic White background layer, then stamping it again on the Basic White layer for the tag. I stamped a greeting from the Full of Love stamp set, then embossed the stamped white layer with the "happy birthday" folder from the Let's Celebrate Embossing Folders.

I punched both the white tag front and the Pool Party layer with the Very Best Trio Punch, flipping the strips over to punch to opposite corner so they curve would match. I punched the top of the tag with the ribbon slit from the same punch before  coloring the tag and the background around the flowers with the Stampin' Blends I have listed in below. I then adhered the tag layers together, added the ribbon, and then adhered over the stamped and embossed white layer to achieve a "spotlighted look".

Stampin_up_full_of_love_carolpaynestamps2

Inside I stamped another phrase from Full of Love, as well as the single bloom in the lower left corner. I added a trio of tiny blossoms with Pool Party ink. I repeated these motifs on the coordinating envelope.

Stampin_up_fitting_florets_carolpaynestamps1

After stamping the flowers with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and cutting with the coordinating Framed Florets die, I used sponge daubers to lightly add Pool Party and Soft Succulent ink. I then added Clear Wink of Stella over the blooms to add some sparkle.

Stampin_up_fitting_florets_carolpaynestamps2

I added Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds for little pops of coordinating color.

Stampin_up_fitting_florets_carolpaynestamps3

I created a pocket for a gift card by folding over the front about 1 1/2", added a 1 1/4" strip of Fitting Florets Designer Paper, then punched with a Label Me Lovely Punch.

Stampin_up_fitting_florets_carolpaynestamps4

Stampin’ Up! Sending Fall!

Stampin’ Up! Sending Fall!

Hey there! If you have been wondering what is going on with my blog, all I can say is right now I'm having a lot of trouble uploading photos to it. I've tried everything I can think of: restarting my laptop, updating my Windows, using my phone's hotspot instead of the house internet, trying to upload at varying times of day; you name it, I've probably tried it! What's really weird though is that I am able to upload and post the standard photos that I add to the bottom of every post, such as my Host Code, where to find the Host Code box in my online store, photos that accompany my monthly specials, SU! specials, etc, but I can't upload and post new photos!

If you are actually reading this post and seeing the Sending Fall card, that means I was able to post the pictures of it! Finally!

Note: After almost a month, I finally found that it wasn't anything I was doing wrong, it was my Blog Host, Typepad, that was having the issues!

I created this card with the Sending Fall Bundle. I've created a card similar to this one but with a spring-like look. You can find that card HERE.

Stampin_up_sending_sentiments_carolpaynestamps1

I used the Sending Dies to cut the two the two layers for the word. I cut the solid background from Cajun Craze, then cut the top detail word from Basic White with Adhesive Sheet on the back so all I had to do was remove the backing and it was easy to apply to the background. I adhered the word to a circle I had cut with a Stylish Shapes die from Gold Metallic Paper. I stamped the "birthday wishes" with Mossy Meadow ink on Basic White, then cut with another die from the Sending Dies pack. I finished off the look with a Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dot.

Stampin_up_sending_sentiments_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped the background with the Sending Smiles stamps and Cajun Craze, Mango Melody, and Mossy Meadow inks.

Stampin_up_sending_sentiments_carolpaynestamps3

I stamped the inside with more images from the front and a sentiment from the Happiness Abounds stamp set.

Stampin’ Up! Soft Seedlings Birthday for Grace!

Stampin’ Up! Soft Seedlings Birthday for Grace!

Hey there! Busy weekend again! Every year sometime before Christmas all of the "Payne Girls" (my daughters, teen granddaughters, and daughter-in-laws) go shopping together one Saturday. For a long time it was always after Thanksgiving, but a few years ago we started going before Thanksgiving, which actually works better for me as I  can then get a better handle on my present-buying. When you are buying gifts for 25+ peeps, it takes a while to get it organized. I've figured out a good way to keep track, which involves putting Post-It Notes on gifts as I put them in my cart in the store and keeping a small notebook in my purse to keep track.

This year with Faith expecting Wesley the first of December she requested we go in October as she really didn't feel comfortable traveling over an hour from home and doctor so close to her due date, so we were glad to get to all go together on Saturday! I did get a good start on my shopping, so now if I can just keep going and get it all wrapped sooner rather than later! haha!

I realized I hadn't shared the card I made for Grace's birthday in September with you yet, so here it is!

I used the Soft Seedlings stamp set and Hello Harvest Bundle to create this fall-themed card with a birthday message.

IMG_4804

For the front greeting I used a sentiment from Hello Harvest, stamped with Cajun Craze ink.

IMG_4805

I used an inkpad-dragging technique to ink all of the leaves, starting by inking the leaf first with Pumpkin Pie, then dragging the edge of the Cajun Craze pad along the outside edges of the leaf. After stamping Very Vanilla with one of the leaves, I stamped the Hello Harvest pumpkin over with Cajun Craze ink, then cut with a Rustic Pumpkin die. As I added Clear Wink of Stella all over the pumpkin I found that the Wink of Stella solution slightly picked up the stamped Cajun Craze ink and moved it as I painted with the brush to give the pumpkin the all-over orange blush look! Wink of Stella also intensified the colors of the leaf.

IMG_4806

I finished off the inside with the banner sentiment from Hello Harvest.

Stampin’ Up! Amazing Thanks Baby Shower Thank-You!

Stampin’ Up! Amazing Thanks Baby Shower Thank-You!

Hey there! I've been MIA again, but I've been busy, not sick! I've been babysitting for Fiona a lot, and helping throw a baby shower for my soon-to-be 15th grandchild, Wesley Logan. Of course there are birthdays to celebrate almost every month and October is no exception!

Today I wanted to share with you the baby shower thank-you card I designed for my lovely daughter-in-law, Faith, to use to send out in appreciation for all of the gifts she has received at the three showers she has been given, for this much loved and awaited baby boy! Faith is a speech therapist at two local hospitals, so in addition to the shower I helped her mom throw, her work-mates also surprised her with a shower at each hospital.

Wesley's nursery and the shower I helped with both have a safari animal theme, so I used the Elephant Parade stamp set with the Amazing Thanks dies and Artistic Mix Decorative Masks to create this:

IMG_4809

I tried to keep this card as simple as possible, but you know me, even simple gets a little bit busy most of the time! ha ha!

I started with a Smoky Slate card base, 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored and folded at 4 1/4", then I turned the card to a landscape presentation.

I then cut a layer of Balmy Blue card stock 4 " x 5 1/4". On the right side I stamped the elephants (there are three different ones in the Elephant Parade stamp set) randomly with Balmy blue ink. I adhered the layer to the card front with Stampin' Seal.

I then cut a piece of Basic White 3 1/2" x 5". I laid one of the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks over the white layer, secured with a couple of pieces of Post-It Note Tape (I bought the tape on Amazon), then gently swirled Balmy Blue ink over the mask using a Blending Brush. I cut the finished layer in half at 2 1/2", then added the 2 1/2" x 3 3/4" piece to the left side of the card front with Stampin' Seal.

I cut a piece each of Smoky Slate and Basic White 1 1/2" x 3 1/2". I added a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the back of  the white layer before cutting both with the thanks dies from the Amazing Thanks die set. The solid die cuts a solid outline for the detailed "thanks" word. I removed the backing from the white
thanks word before adhering to the Smoky Slate layer. I adhered to the card front with snippets of stampin' dimensionals. I added a single Heart Pearl as the finishing touch.

Inside I stamped the sentiment from from Flowers of Friendship with Tuxedo Black ink on a 3 1/2: x 5" layer, as well as one of the elephants with Balmy Blue. I adhered this layer to a 4" x 5 1/4" layer of Balmy Blue, then adhered it all to the inside of the card. I stamped the elephant on the front lower left corner of the envelope.

I also stamped another Flowers of Friendship sentiment on the envelope flap and I was done!

Note: to make this card a little bit easier and more safe to mail, when Faith & I sat down to make 80 of these we used Adhesive Sheet on both layer of the die-cut "thanks", and eliminated the stampin' dimensionals and the heart pearl.

I also completed all of the envelope stamping before the shower so we could put an envelope at each seat so the shower guests could fill out their address to make Faith's job a little easier when it was time for her to write the thank-you's.

Stampin’ Up! Polished Pink Elephant Parade!

Stampin’ Up! Polished Pink Elephant Parade!

Hey there! Today I have another card for you created with the Elephant Parade stamp set, but this time I also used the coordinating Elephant Dies and made my own background with the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks and a Blending Brush!

To create the Polished Pink plaid background, I laid the plaid design from the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks over a 3 3/4" x 5" piece of Basic White. I held it in place with a bit of Post-It tape, then used a Blending Brush to lightly swirl Polished Pink ink over the entire layer. I kept adding more ink until I had the intensity I desired.

This time I stamped all three elephant babies from the Elephant Parade stamp set with Tuxedo Black ink, colored with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers, and then cut with the coordinating Elephant Dies!

I colored each elephant baby with the bullet tip of the Smoky Slate Stampin' Blends marker, then went back over the wrinkles an areas I wanted to highlight with the same marker to darken. I wanted the inner ear to be darker than yesterday's elephant, so I colored first with a Light Flirty Flamingo Stampin' Blend, then I layered a Light Real Red Stampin' Blend over it. I did this because I currently cannot find my Polished Pink Stampin' Blend. lol!

I lightened the center of the ears with the Stampin' Blends Color Lifter.

I used the Stylish Shapes dies to cut the Smoky Slate stitched squares behind each elephant baby, as well as to cut out the greeting.

I tied my loopy bow again with White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon. I wrapped the White 1/4" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon around the designer paper layer, which I had adhered to a Basic White layer of the same size for stability, tying in a simple knot. I then looped more of the same ribbon around four of my fingers to create three loops and slid the loops off my fingers. I gave the gathered loops a twist before laying them over the first tied ribbon knot and then tied the ends around it all. I trimmed the ends of the ribbon and then added a glue dot under the knot to keep it in place.

I finished off the front with Heart Pearls.

Inside I used a phrase from Charming Sentiments, as well as the butterfly and flower sprig from Elephant Parade.
