Stampin’Up! Remembering Christmas!

Stampin’Up! Remembering Christmas!

Hello! I'm back with a couple of swaps I've received using the Holiday Catalog set, Remembering Christmas!

When I first saw this set in the catalog, I thought, "I don't need this set! That's at least ONE set I won't buy!"

Well, I was WRONG!

First, here's what you might consider the "traditional" use of the deer head in this set:

Remembering christmas 1 posted
The deer has been stamped on Night of Navy with Whisper White Craft ink( just found out she used the Illuminate Glimmer Pad. There are no recipes on our swap cards so sometimes I just have to guess), then cut out with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. A Smokey Slate Apothecary Accents Framelit was cut in half and layered behind it. Merry Christmas from More Merry Messages (on the Carryover List) was stamped on a strip of Winter Frost Designer Specialty Paper, then snipped on one end to create the banner look. A tiny snippet of Silver 1/8" Ribbon was tied on the other end for a little sparkle. The Whisper White layer was embossed with the Stylish Striped Textured Impressions Folder to complete the classic look.

It was a nice card, but still not enough to make me buy this set. My husband doesn't hunt, but one of my SIL's is an avid hunter. Imagine my surprise when I opened my swap envelope last month and found this:

Remembering christmas 2
This swap was created by Meg Wheeler. She used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Folder for her card base. She inked the negative side of the folder with Basic Black ink before running through the Big Shot. Meg used one of the Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides on her copier to print the "bulls-eye" and grid on the Very Vanilla cardstock. She stamped the deer head and the bullet-hole-resembling splotches from Gorgeous Grunge in Jet Black StazOn before adding "Greetings of the Season" from the Greetings of the Season stamp set to a Window Sheet. The adhesive to hold the window sheet on the card are Glue Dots and are located on the splotches in order to camoflage them.

To tell you how neat this card is, when I showed it to my husband, even HE was impressed, and I think "greetings of the season" is a great play on words for hunting season, yes?

This second card would make a perfect card for any reason for the hunter in your life!

Well, I'd better get going! Lots to do today!

Stampin’ Up! Desktop Calendar Display!

Stampin’ Up! Desktop Calendar Display!

Hello! Today I want to share with you a product from the Annual Catalog no one seems to notice or know about. I call it a "sleeper" product, because it is a gem worth noticing! It is the Desktop Calendar Display:

Desktop calendar card holder 1

Located on page 194 of the Annual Catalog, this gem is designed and intended to "display a cute calendar or other project on your desk". I'm going to use them for display at my events because they hold the card securely, yet leaving it accessible to remove to inspect and view the inside.

Desktop calendar card holder 2
The case will stay upright due to the "flip-back" design of the cover to create the wide base for the display.

I have tried several other types of stands, clips, and what-not to display my cards over the years, each with it's own unique challenges: the stand falls over easily, the card falls off (usually onto an open ink pad!), or the clips used leave dents in the card, making it unacceptable to send to anyone later.

But here's the winning benefit of using these display cases for my cards:

Desktop calendar card holder 3
I can close each case with the card inside, protecting it during transport and storage! I see myself ordering SEVERAL of these in the near future! yay!

The item code  for the Desktop Calendar Display is #127033, $1.95 each. These would be perfect to include with a snapshot gift for relatives this coming holiday season. A frame that doubles as the gift box AND storage! Cool!

Well, I need to get busy with some paper-cutting for the Nancy fundraiser this Friday!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin’ Up! Festive Flurry Swaps!

Stampin’ Up! Festive Flurry Swaps!

Hello! I've had a really good day today. Lots of family around here all day, and now Liam is spending the night! Troy had a question for me today when I mentioned Liam was "spending the night". He wanted to know why we say "spend the night", instead of "sleep-over" or "stay". I really had no answer, it is just something we say. Is is just our area of the country? What do you say?

Since we had a family day around here today, I decided to share a couple more of my monthly swaps with you, this time using the Festive Flurry stamps and framelits from the Holiday Catalog. Stampin' Up! knew we would all want them so much they even put them together in a bundle so you can save 15%, how about that?

First up, Lorraine Duran's creation:

Lorraine duran 1
Stylish Stripes Textured Impressions Folder, Island Indigo & Whisper White cardstock, Silver Glimmer Paper, Crumb Cake & Island Indigo ink, an Extra Large Rhinestone Basic Jewel, and "a very merry christmas" from the Wishing You stamp set!

Lorraine duran 2
After cutting out the negative space with one of the Festive Flurry Framelits, she added a layer of clear Window Sheet to suspend and attach the rest of the snowflake! (so sorry the picture is blurry!)

Renee watson
Rene Watson used the Festive Flurry stamps and framelits for her gorgeous creation, along with Silver heat-embossing and the Perfect Pairs stamp set for the greeting!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day Fall Thankfulness!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day Fall Thankfulness!

Wow, what a FUN day I've had, stamping, laughing, and sharing with good friends!

Since I've spent my day stamping away but working on class kits for club members who were unable to attend this month, I do not have anything new to show you, so I'm relying on my stash of monthly swaps for today's post!

Laura Milligan created this card using the Pretty Print Textured Impressions Folder and the Harvest of Thanks stamp set. Laura used the new Deco Label Framelits to cut out the turkey image. I especially lke the way she spritzed (or splattered) the Early Espresso reinker over it as a finshing touch!

Laura miligan

Megan Wheeler did a beautiful job on her card using one of the Expressions Thinlets Dies and Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper!

Megan wheeler

And finally, Rhonda Bassler used the Pretty Print folder and Harvest of Thanks stamps with Sweater Weather Designer Paper. I love how there are so many different designs in each pack of paper, you can always find something to coordinate perfectly on your project! A bit of Burlap 1 1/4" Ribbon, a leaf cut from the Autumn Accents Die, and a greeting cut with an Itty Bitty Banners Framelit add texture and interest. Rhonda also cut out the "HARVEST of Blessings" image with an Apothercary Accents Framelit.

Stampin’Up! Reinker Blowing Technique with Magnificent Maple!

Stampin’Up! Reinker Blowing Technique with Magnificent Maple!

Hello! I know I'm really late posting today, but I had the first session of my SWOW/Christmas Card Class today and I'm just now getting time to post!

However, you are in for a real treat, because I had some time to play this evening while my last stamper was here (hey, Natasha!) and I made THIS:

Reinker blowing 1

I'm really excited about it! I LOVE it! I used the Reinker Blowing Technique to layer the fall colors for my leaf: Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry, Rich Razzleberry, and Old Olive.

Reinker blowing 4

To do the Reinker Blowing Technique all you need  are Classic Ink refills in your colors of choice and a common, ordinary drinking straw! I started with my Tangerine Tango reinker first. I put a couple of drops (enough to make a reinker "puddle") on the Very Vanilla cardstock in the lower third, then immediately started blowing the reinker across the cardstock with the straw. The reinker will stream across the cardstock pretty much any way it wants, but you can direct it a little with the direction and force of your blowing. (Don't blow too much for too long without taking a break or you might get light-headed. Ask me how I know this. ha!) I repeated the process with Crushed Curry, then Rich Razzleberry, and finally with Old Olive. After the I had blown all the colors across the cardstock once, I then added & blew more drops of color wherever I felt like needed more of that color. The cardstock on the above left shows approximately what the blown reinker looks like. The leaf on the right is after I cut it out with the Autumn Accents Bigz Die and then sponged Chocolate Chip ink on all the edges. I actually used the backside of the leaf instead of the front because the backside had more of the Tangerine Tango color in the center as you can see in the picture below:

Reinker blowing 5

I used the new set, Lots of Thanks, from the Annual Catalog for my greeting and inside sentiment. I stamped them in Chocolate Chip, as well as the Magnificent Maple stamp all around the edges of the Very Vanilla layer. My card base is Chocolate Chip with a Cajun Craze layer under the Very Vanilla layer. After stamping all the maple leaves around the edges I ran it through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder, then sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink.

Reinker blowing 3
I cut the banner around the "thank you" greeting with one of the new Circle Card Framelit Dies. I dirtied up the Summer Starfruit 3/8" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon with Chocolate Chip ink before tying in a bow and adding a Vintage Trinket safety pin!

Reinker blowing 2

Inside I stamped the Magnificent Maple around the edges of the Very Vanilla layer with Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Chocolate Chip before adding a bit more Chocolate Chip sponging all around!

Well, I'm yawning my head off, so I'd better close and head to bed!

To order your Magnificent Maple stamp, Autumn Accents Die, Lots of Thanks stamp set, or anything else I used for my creation today, go to my website: www.carolpayne.stampinup.net

Stampin’Up! Cycle Celebration!

Stampin’Up! Cycle Celebration!

Good morning! Just a quick post before we get started with our day!

Today's card is one of our cards for the SWOW Class this weekend, using Cycle Celebration and Remembering Your Birthday!

Cycle celebration 1

Coastal Cabana and Whisper White cardstock, with Coastal Cabana, Strawberry Slush, and Basic Black ink make this card really pop!

I used the Squares Collection Framelits to cut the layers with the Strawberry Slush In Color Designer Paper. The birthday candle from Cycle Celebration is fussy-cut with my snips and is tucked behind the Whisper White Organza Ribbon!

"celebrate a sweet birthday" was stamped once in Coastal Cabana and punched with the Decorative Label punch. After cleaning the stamp on my Stampin' Scrub, I then colored the center words with Basic Black and Strawberry Slush Stampin' Write Markers. I then punched it with the Large Oval punch so I could mount it on the first punch with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Cycle celebration 2

Inside I used the Square Collection Framelits again, then put a punched cupcake from the Cupcake Builder punch in it. I punched Strawberry Slush Designer Paper with the Small Heart punch for the cupcake liner. After embossing the cupcake frosting with the Perfect Polka Dot Folder, I highlighted the dots with the new Chalk Marker. The inside phrase is from Remembering Your Birthday.

The inside could be an card front too, don't you think?

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
