We saw a bear!

We saw a bear!

Another fun thing that happened on our trip up the White Pass Trail by bus was we got to see a real live bear!

Bear

He wasn't a very big bear, probably a half-grown cub from last year, but he was a black bear our bus driver told us. This little guy was right beside the edge of the road foraging for food. Our bus stopped right beside him so we could take pictures of him and he continued to eat and look around as if we weren't even there! So sorry this picture is blurry, it was pretty cold outside so the window were cold and so my breath kept fogging it up! But we were excited, especially since earlier in the trip someone had asked the driver if we would see any bears and he wasn't too hopeful about it at all!

It just so happens I participated in a 6×6 Alaskan Cruise scrapbook page swap before the cruise and this was my page made with punches and the "Plant Hope" & "Word Play" stamp sets! I gave this one to Stampin' Up! and they put it on display in the Hospitality Room along with all the other swaps!

So there you are! More VBS tonight, so I have lots to do, as well as prepare for the Medallion Tile Class this weekend AND a yard sale at my house! I'm getting tired just thinking about it!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" day!

Panning for Gold!

Panning for Gold!

I never thought I would actually get to pan for gold, and actually find some! Well, it was tiny, just a couple of flakes, but fun none-the-less! Thank you again, Stampin' Up! for making a dream come true!

Gold

Our "gold panning" was part of our excursion up the White Trail Pass by motorcoach and Narrow-Gauge Railway! We took the motorcoach up to the top of the pass, through the Canadian border, and then boarded the train for the ride back down. Before we got to the top, though, we stopped at "Liarsville", which was a depiction of how the mining camps might have been like back then. We saw fun, short, musical presentation, then we were each given a pan of dirt and rocks and shown how to pan for the gold that was "guaranteed" to be in it! We were told to expect to find at least 2-4 flakes of gold, and flakes they surely were! Here's one of mine!

There it is
Tiny, isn't it? I have my TWO WHOLE FLAKES in a little jeweler's baggie!

Today's card is another from the Hospitality room! This beautiful tulip is made with the Owl Punch! So clever!

I've got lots of little errands to run today, and tonight I'm helping Kimberly teach the 4th-5th graders at VBS, so I've gotta run!

The Rest of Punch Class!

The Rest of Punch Class!

Here are the final two projects from Friday night's Punch Class. On the last one I will show you how a "Punch Page" is laid out just so you can see everything you get when you come to this class!

These cute litte robin birdies are made entirely with the "Two-Step Bird Extra-Large" punch. The colors are Tangerine Tango and Soft Suede for the birdies, and the tree and sponging around the edges of the "Framed Tulips" Textured Impressions Folder is Early Espresso. "Friends" is from "Your a Gem" in the Occasions Mini! The tree, flowers and leaves are all from "Season of Friendship"! I CASED this birdie idea from Maria!

Stampingrox! tip: to achieve the shadowed tree effect you see on the inside of the card, stamp your tree image on the front of the card FIRST before putting it inside the "Framed Tulips" Textured Impressions Folder. After you run the cardstock through the Big Shot, immediately put your inside Very Vanilla piece into the same folder and Big Shot it. The ink residue from the front layer of the card will transfer to this layer, giving you a cool "shadowed" effect. Be sure to clean your folder with a baby wipe or wet towel and dry thoroughly before using on a project that you don't want to have the  shadowed effect!  "with Love & caring" is from "Thanks for Caring" in the Occasions Mini!

This rather forlorn little fellow is a CASE from Jackie Topa and someone else, but I can't remember the other girl's name. There are SO MANY great ideas out here on the net, I have to limit myself to just a few minutes a day of blog surfing or I would never get anything stamped! Wouldn't this little guy make a cute Christmas Elf or Papa Smurf too?  "good luck" and the shamrock stamp is from "So Happy for You", a free SAB set you can get with a $50 order, but time is running out, SAB ends on March 31st!

Here's the punch page we made to correspond with the gnome punch project. Isn't it cool that with the exception of the "Itty Bitty Shapes" punched eyes and little hand-trimmed suspenders, he is entirely made with the "Blossom Petals" punch!

To make this punch page, all you have to do is follow the guide I provide on the stamping table (this is the exact one from this project!). Usually all the pieces are pre-punched for you (you do the trimming) and the labels are pre-printed.

That's all for today, my "Stampingrox!" friends!

Punch Class Projects!

Punch Class Projects!

Punch Class was Friday night here at my house. Here's the projects we made:

This is a cute little card made with the "Blossom Petals" punch and the "Tastful Trim" Die. The corresponding curviness of the Whisper White layer was hand-trimmed with Paper Snips using the negative leftover piece of the Pear Pizzazz Ric-Rac after it has been cut with the "Tasteful Trim" die! The centers of the tiny "Itty Bitty Shapes" punched flowers are from the "Build a Cupcake" punch.

Stampingrox Tip: it's easiest to dot on the 2-way glue pen in the center of the flowers first, then add the centers.

This card is a CASE but with the colors changed from Mary Fish. I added the tiny flowers where she had glimmer brads, and the inside design is all mine.

Here's the inside. These phrases are from "Messages for Mom",  a great set that works for many occasions, not just Mother's Day!

I dusted off my sandly neglected "Trendy Trees" stamp set to create the "bones"  (and body) for this brave little fishy! His head is the "Small Heart" punch and his tail is the smallest heart from the "Heart to Heart" punch! I CASED the fish idea from Holly, but the rest of the card is my design.

The school of fish all swimming in the background is the goldfish stamp from "C is for Cat","hello" is from "Hello Again", and the watery swirls on the Tempting Turquoise background are from the "Perfect Details" Texturz Plate.

We used a phrase from "Smarty Pants" inside. Each stamper had their choice of any of the cute and sassy phrases in this set.

Stampingrox Tip: Staz-On Black ink gives a sharp, clean look to all your images, and is moisture-proof when coloring with markers, aquapainters, or blender pens!

Happy Wednesday stampers! I'm actually kind of under the weather today. Yesterday morning I felt that familiar scratchy feeling in my throat that usually signals a cold is coming on, and I was right! By last night I had a raging sore throat, runny nose, and ears all clogged up. I talked to my hostess for tonight, Barb, and we decided it would be best to reschedule her party so I don't infect anyone! I've got a super-duper party planned for her, so we are hoping to get her rescheduled soon! Today I am feeling some different, not better, but different, than yesterday. The sore throat is gone, but my throat still feels all hollow and dry, and my head & ears are all stuffed up. I'm going to wait until at least tomorrow to decide if a trip to the dr. is in order. Lots of fluids and decongestants today and Nyquil tonight! Usually if I can sleep at night I can shake a cold off pretty quickly, let's hope it works out that way this time!

Now, I know you didn't check in here to read all about my sniffles, did you? You came by to see if I had any cute stamping ideas, didn't you? I don't want to disappoint, so here are a few sneak peeks from my upcoming "Rolling With the Punches" class on May 28 & 29!

This adorable guy I CASED with some modifications from "Stampin' Success" the monthly demonstrator magazine Stampin' Up! sends out to all demos. Jackie Topa was the featured stamper this month and she does FANTASTIC punch creations! I couldn't resist this adorable monkey face peeping out of the "hut" window! Does it remind you of  "Gilligan's Island"? Jackie used linen thread to "tie" the "wood" and the window frame together, but I decided since we are going to be making 10 different cards at this class in less than four hours we needed a little streamlining, so we are just going to use the Close to Cocoa marker to make the "nails" in the construction! lol! I also added the hinges on the side of this door, and the "let's celebrate" is from "Family Phrases"!

020 ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

Here's the inside: (I went with the "celebrate you" so this card could be used for multiple occasions!)

021 ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

Next up is this gorgeous Oval punch tulip card I found on one of the convention boards last year. I made a few additions to make it more my own (See if you can guess what I used with the Big Shot to make the leaves!)

022 ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

And lastly for today, here's an adorable birdie anniversary card! Oval punches again, and the Scalloped Oval, and the beautiful "Razzleberry Lemonade" DSP!

023 ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2010

That's all for today, stampers! I hope these samples will help convince my local stampers to RSVP to come to this class. If you aren't local, I am offering this class as a "Class to Go" kit for $25 for all the supplies cut, punched, and ready to go along with the class hand-out directions! Just email me and I will send you a Paypal invoice! All kits will ship by June 1st!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampin' Rox! day!
