Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Bridge Fold!

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Bridge Fold!

Hey there! I haven't been posting here as often as I would like, but you know how crazy December can be! I'm still stamping, and not without things to share, so bear with me, I will be posting as often as I can!

Today I have another project from my December group of creations for the December Creative Crew at Splitcoaststampers. This card is a bit of a "step-up" from my last post with based on the inspiration photo. I used the bridge-fold technique  with Versamark Resist:

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps1

The Bridge Fold is fun because it easily stands up for display, but also folds flat for mailing.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps2

Versamark Resist is very similar to the Crayon Resist technique I used on my last Creative Crew project. I stamped the more open tree image from Season Like Christmas with Dapper Denim ink first, then stamped with the more solid image over the first with Versamark ink. I let the Versamark dry for a bit (or you can speed up the drying time with a Heat Tool.) I added 3/4" punched circle for the moon, then used a sponge brayer to add Smoky Slate ink over the entire piece for a great moonlight look. I stamped snowflakes from Tags & Trimmings with Smoky Slate ink before I removed the mask. Smoky Slate stamped shows up darker than Smoky Slate applied with a Sponge Brayer! I stamped a sentiment from Star of Light with Basic Black ink.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps3

I used Glossy card stock again for the snowy scene and the greeting strip on the bridge. As you can see with the "Merry Christmas" from Star of Light  stamped with Basic Black ink, you have to be careful stamping on Glossy card stock. It's easy to slide your stamp on the slick glossy surface! I was ok with the way this one turned out because it looks like an intentional "ghost image" behind it.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

I used a die from the Starlight Thinlets to cut a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for a star/snowflake embellishment on each side of the greeting. I added a single rhinestone for some sparkle.

Stampin’ Up! Heart & Home Window on the Season!

Stampin’ Up! Heart & Home Window on the Season!

Hey there! Today's card was inspired by one of the pictures included in the December Creative Crew "Winter Wonderland" Challenge. I used an oldie-but-goodie technique, Crayon Resist, with the Season Like Christmas set to create my version.

Stampin_up_crayon_resist_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

Here's the inspiration photo. How do you think I did?

Winter wonderland 4

To create my window I cut two windows with the Hearth & Home Thinlet. I cut off one end of each frame.

Stampin_up_hearth_and_home_carolpaynestamps2

I then overlapped the middle windows to create a six-paned window from two four-paned ones. I used Liquid Glue as my adhesive.

Stampin_up_hearth_and_home_carolpaynestamps1

I used the Crayon Resist Technique for my winter scene. I stamped the tree from Season Like Christmas with Dapper Denim ink on Glossy card stock, then used a white crayon to scribble in the open spaces between the branches. After adding a 3/4" circle punched from the sticky area of a Post-it note, I then used a Sponge Brayer to add Smoky Slate ink over the whole piece. The crayon resists the ink! After rolling on the color I then rubbed over the piece with a tissue to remove excess ink and to make the white "snow" areas stand out more. Before I removed the post-it punched circle I stamped snowflakes from Tags & Trimmings  with Smoky Slate ink.

Stampin_up_crayon_resist_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

I heat-embossed "Merry Christmas" from the Star of Light set with white powder on Basic Black. I punched it out with the Classic Label Punch to adhere to the Marina Mist background I had dry-embossed with the Garden Trellis folder.

Stampin_up_star_of_light_carolpaynestamps1

Inside I stamped more Season Like Christmas trees and another Star of Light sentiment, all with Dapper Denim ink.

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Bokeh for the Creative Crew CCREW1217TECH!

Stampin’ Up! Watercolor Bokeh for the Creative Crew CCREW1217TECH!

Hey there! I'm back today with another creation for the Creative Crew on Splitcoaststampers! Today's challenge was to use a technique tutorial from the gallery along with the Winter Wonderland theme.  I chose a watercolor bokeh technique, combining the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder with Merry Cafe' and Home for Christmas to create this:

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_bokeh_carolpaynestamps1

I used the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder as a stamp by inking the raised side of the folder with Soft Sky ink and then laying the white layer on the inked surface. I pressed gently and then removed the paper without running through the Big Shot to create a subtle snowflake background.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_bokeh_carolpaynestamps2

I created my focal image piece with the Watercolor Bokeh technique. I used Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Dapper Denim ink refills to create the watercolor background. I then used a stencil cut with Layering Circles Framelits to sponge Whisper White Craft ink. While the stencil was still over the background I then stamped inside the sponged circles with a Merry Cafe' snowflake. I made sure I cleaned my stamp between inkings with Dapper Denim so I wouldn't transfer any of the still-damp white ink to my pad. I cut the watercolor bokeh piece with a Layering Circle Framelit, then backed it with a layer of Dapper Denim, also cut with a Layering Circle Framelit.  I inked just the "Joy" from "Joy to the World" with a Dapper Denim Stampin' Write Marker before stamping on Whisper White. Both the greeting and the Soft Sky backing layer were cut with, you guessed it, Layering Circles Framelits!

To view the Watercolor Bokeh technique tutorial on Splitcoaststampers, just click HERE.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_bokeh_carolpaynestamps3

I was trying to decide what ribbon to add when I found an fresh roll of Island Indigo 1/4" Ombre Ribbon, which blended perfectly with the colors in the watercolor bokeh!

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_bokeh_carolpaynestamps4

I finished the inside of the card by inking the white layer with the little bit of ink left on the Winter Wonder folder, then stamping the Hearts Come Home sentiment on top with Dapper Denim ink.

Stampin’ Up! Hearts Come Home CCREW1217SK!

Hey there! Today I have another sketch challenge project for the December Creative Crew. After we created a card using the sketch, we were encouraged to use the sketch to create framed art or a canvas. I'm not much for canvas creation, so I used the sketch to create a framed art with the Christmas Quilt and Hearts Come Home stamp sets, Hometown Greetings Edgelits, and Quilt Top Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps1

For this frame, I turned the sketch on its' side:

Winter wonderland sketch

I stamped the "quilted star" from Christmas Quilt with Dapper Denim for the stitching, then stamped with Marina Mist and Soft Sky for the quilt pieces.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps2

I cut out my neighborhood scene with a Hometown Greetings Edgelit. The tiny stars were cut with another die from the set, then added with tiny drops of liquid glue and a tacky toothpick.

Stampin_up_hearts_come_home_carolpaynestamps3

After I stamped everything I then embossed the entire whisper white piece with the Quilt Top Textured Impressions folder and cut into pieces to match the sketch.

Stampin’ Up! Creative Crew CCREW1217SK Challenge with Nature Sings!

Stampin’ Up! Creative Crew CCREW1217SK Challenge with Nature Sings!

Hey there! The December Creative Crew Gallery  on Splitcoaststampers opens today! I'm really excited about the projects I'm sharing, so I'm showing you the first of them today!

I used Starlight Thinlet Dies to create the snowflakes and Nature Sings from the Annual Catalog for the stamped images to create my card for the Sketch Challenge:

Stampin_up_nature_sings_carolpaynestamps1

Here's the sketch:

Winter wonderland sketch

Following the sketch challenge, I cut strips 1 1/8" wide and varying lengths from Soft Sky, Marina Mist, and Whisper White card stock. After adhering to the Basic Black 4" x 5 1/4" layer, I embossed it all with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I cut Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with Starlight Thinlet Dies, then layered together or just adhered singly to the card front with glue dots. I centered each with a Rhinestone Basic Jewel.

Stampin_up_nature_sings_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped the Nature Sings greeting with Dapper Denim ink on Whisper White, then cut out with a Bunch of Banners Framelit. I cut off the right side so it would fit in the space allotted for the greeting. Before I adhered with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals I rolled the edges of the banner directly on the Dapper Denim ink pad for a "faux layer" look. A couple of Rhinestones finish the banner off nicely.

Stampin_up_nature_sings_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I stamped another Nature Sings sentiment with Dapper Denim ink.

Stampin_up_nature_sings_carolpaynestamps4

After stamping the little group of trees from Nature Sings in Dapper Denim ink I dabbed and doodled with my Fine Tip Glue Pen, the sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I left the card open for awhile to let the glue/glitter dry.

Stampin_up_nature_sings_carolpaynestamps5

I stamped the envelope with the same trees and another Nature Sings sentiment. I love this card!

Inside I stamped another Nature Sings sentiment with Dapper Denim ink.

After stamping the little group of trees from Nature Sings in Dapper Denim ink I dabbed and doodled with my Fine Tip Glue Pen, the sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. I left the card open for awhile to let the glue/glitter dry.

I stamped the envelope with the same trees and another Nature Sings sentiment. I love this card!
