Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Meets Faux Silk!

Stampin’ Up! Painted Harvest Meets Faux Silk!

Hey there! I had a chance to play late last week, and the card I'm sharing today was one of the ones I created with the Faux Silk technique. I used Painted Harvest with sentiments from Merry Mistletoe to create this bright and cheery card:

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps1

For this one I stamped the Painted Harvest bloom with Real Red ink on a white coffee filter (yes, I have both white and natural in my coffee cabinet, although I'm trying to use the natural ones to reduce our bleach exposure in our coffee) I stamped the centers with Crushed Curry and the leaves with Old Olive. In true "faux silk" fashion, I then crumpled the filter into a ball before opening back up and adhering to a Whisper White layer with Multipurpose Liquid Glue. I trimmed the filter to about an inch on all sides, then turned the edges to the backside, mitered the corners, and then adhered with more glue.

The wrinkles and creases did not show up in my photos, but the effect is stunning!

Stampin_up_painted_harvest_carolpaynestamps2

I used Gold Foil for to mat behind the layers to coordinate with the gold-embossed greeting from Merry Mistletoe. I stamped holly leaves from Carols of Christmas with Old Olive on  Old Olive card stock, cut with a Card Front Layers Thinlet, and then adhered with glue dots. I added the smallest of the Gold Faceted Gems for more sparkle.

Inside I gold-embossed another Merry Mistletoe sentiment.

Stampin Up! Sunday Swap Day October 15th!

Stampin Up! Sunday Swap Day October 15th!

Hey there! It's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay!

First, a Christmas Quilt "floating image" card by Deb McCahan. I love Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay, and Dapper Denim with Whisper White! The Quilt Top Folder brings it all together!

Stampin_up_christmas_quilt_carolpaynestamps1

A Christmas Quilt phrase, needle & thread finish the inside!

Stampin_up_christmas_quilt_carolpaynestamps2

Next, an anonymous stamper used Merry Little Labels, Softly Falling Textured Impression Folder, and snowflakes cut with Seasonal Layers Thinlets for this simple but gorgeous creation!

Stampin_up_merry_little_labels_carolpaynestamps1

Raedean Shibata also used Merry Little Labels and the Everyday Label Punch (bundled to save 10%) with Basic Black and Soft Sky. She stamped the label on Watercolor paper with Archival Basic Black so she could subtly watercolor the Soft Sky (or it may be Pool Party) in the winter sky. Merry Little Christmas Designer Paper continues the starry look.

Season Like Christmas with Lemon Lime Twist, Real Red, Whisper White, and Embossing Paste snow was the choice for  Jody Miller. Jody used a greeting from Ready for Christmas and the deer from Carols of Christmas. She used a piece of Merry Music Specialty Designer Paper for her background.

Another anonymous stamper used the Seasonal Chums Bundle with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Folder for their simply classic creation.

Finally, Sharon Tong-Robinson used Sugarplum Dreams for her adorable Powder Pink/Whisper White creation. Gold embossing for the greeting and a strip of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate add just the right touches of shine!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 1st!

Stampin’ Up! Sunday Swap Day October 1st!

Hey there! It's Sunday, which means it's time for Sunday Swap Day! yay! Today is a very busy Sunday for me. We have our annual Homecoming service at our church today, and my husband's nephew is preaching! There will be special music and "dinner on the grounds". I have some cooking to do this morning!

My swaps to share today are all created with the Carols of Christmas Bundle!

First, Susie Wood combined Carols of Christmas with this lovely Garden Green houndstooth print from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper pack!

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

She cut the evergreens from Be Merry paper and stamped the deer with Early Espresso on Crumb Cake before cutting with a Card Front Builder Thinlet die. The greeting is from the tried-and-true Teeny Tiny Wishes, punched with the Classic Label Punch. The little lined flourish under the greeting is also from Carols of Christmas.

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

Susie punched the background mat with the new Everyday Label Punch and finished it all off with a White Perfect Accent. Perfect!

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps3

Next,  this card arrived with no creator's name, which is a shame because it's simply gorgeous! Night of Navy, Whisper White, and Silver, and instant hit! The Woodland Textured Impressions folder and the 1/8" Silver Ribbon give the perfect finishing touches.

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

Ruth Anne Lilley combined Soft Sky, Whisper White, and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter for her softly beautiful creation:

Stampin_up_carols_of_christmas_carolpaynestamps6

Monica Depung used the Carol's of Christmas Bundle with Layering Ovals Framelits:

Finally, another anonymous creator used Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, and Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper with the Pinewood Planks Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder for her rustic card:

Stampin’ Up! September Christmas Card Series Class!

Stampin’ Up! September Christmas Card Series Class!

Hey there! My posts for the past few days have been late and/or sporadic, I know, but I wanted to let you know the reason today now that things are starting to get sorted out. Periodically, it seems, I wear out my laptop and have to transfer everything over to a new one. Invariably with the new one there is a learning curve, as well as many files and programs that need to be transferred or installed. As I start working with the new one, which is what I'm doing today, and go through my daily routine to edit and watermark my pictures, then write my blog post, little "tweaks" have to be made so that I can do all everything necessary to create a good post. This can all be hampered by the speed of the internet I'm using, and the internet today seems to be running very slow out here at Kimberly's where I'm taking care of Liam & Darcy.

I'm hoping to gain speed this week as I get the rest of the tweaks made.

Today I want to share with you a fun class I have coming up at the end of the week, my September Christmas Card Series Class! It's a "series" because I will be doing a Christmas Card Class each month through December with different cards each month, but with the same format of  four different cards. With the $20 class fee you make two of each card for a total of 8 cards. If you place an order of at least $40 at class the class fee is waived.

Here are the four cards we will be making on September 30th from 1-6 p.m.:

Stampin_up_september_christmas_series_carolpaynestamps1

We will be making cards with the Night in Bethlehem, Season Like Christmas, Watercolor Christmas, and Christmas Quilt stamp sets. These are some of my favorites of all of the Christmas cards I have created so far this year!

RSVP to attend in person, or contact me for the details of how you can receive this class for free by mail!

Use the September Host Code  CJ9DDRGF when you shop.

For every $25 in product you order (before tax & shipping), you’ll receive one each of these fun completed cards with envelopes and instructions:

It's time to schedule your fall stamping party! We'll make two cards, birthday, fall or Christmas, for free! In addition to your regular host rewards, when your party sales total is at least $300, you will receive the limited-edition Host Set, Merry Patterns: In addition to your regular host rewards, when your party sales total is at least $300, you will receive the limited-edition Host Set, Merry Patterns!

Stampin’ Up! Thailand Achiever’s Blog Hop September Edition Holiday Catalog Favorites!

Stampin’ Up! Thailand Achiever’s Blog Hop September Edition Holiday Catalog Favorites!

14207747_1112855362100831_7710730354996407642_o

Hey there and welcome to the final month of the Thailand Achiever's Blog Hop. While this hop group is ending, another is beginning next month, the Alaska Achiever's Blog Hop, and just in case you were wondering, I will be participating in that hop too! yay!

Our theme for September is "Holiday Catalog Favorites". Right now you are at my blog Carol Payne Stamps. When you are done checking out my project, simply click on the name below mine on the list at the end of this post and you can continue on to see all rest of the wonderful projects we have prepared for you! Currently you are at Carol Payne.

For my project I used the Watercolor Christmas stamp set that coordinates with the Watercolor Christmas Project Kit. While I have the kit, I didn't use it for my project today. Instead I combined it with Be Merry Designer Series Paper (Annual Catalog) and the Spooky Cat Bundle.

Stampin_up_watercolor_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

I created two versions, stamping the bow from Cookie Cutter Christmas in Real Red on my first card, then a Garden Green bow on the second card. I think I like the Garden Green bow best. Which one do you like better?

I chose the candy-striped print from the Be Merry Designer Series Paper for my background. I'm trying, though not always successfully, to simplify my creations so they are easier for you to duplicate.

Stampin_up_watercolor_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

I stamped the sentiment from Watercolor Christmas with Real Red ink before punching with the Cat Punch. I ove the kitty's tail tangled up with the flourish-y words! After I punched out the cat I punched two more from Basic Black card stock to layer underneath the stamped kitty to complete the Eclipse technique.

Stampin_up_watercolor_christmas_carolpaynestamps3

I don't really make much Halloween stuff, but I had to purchase the Spooky Cat stamp set just so I could stamp the kitty's face! The bow from Cookie Cutter Christmas fits perfectly under his chin!

Stampin_up_watercolor_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

I used all Watercolor Christmas images and sentiment on the inside. Even if you don't buy the Watercolor Christmas Project Kit, the Watercolor Christmas stamps are a must have!

The red-bowed kitty:

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Simple and Stepped-Up!

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Simple and Stepped-Up!

Hey there! One of the great things about going to an event like Vacation Stamping School is getting to see (and take pics) of all of the great ideas on display! Today's cards were created with the Season Like Christmas stand-alone set (no punches or dies to accompany it, gasp!)

First, a very simple-stamping card with Garden Green, Real Red, Whisper White, Early Espresso, and Daffodil Delight. Cut with a Layering Oval Framelit, this would be a great card to mass-produce; all it needs is a greeting!

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

Next, this card used the same colors as the first, but using a Stamping Sponge to add depth to the edges of the layers takes it up a notch. Again, a good mass-production card!

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

This card from the Card Contest has more layers (Lemon Lime Twist and Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper), a sentiment from Ready for Christmas, and Embossing Paste added for "snow"! I love the addition of the tiny deer from the Carols of Christmas Bundle!
