Stampin’ Up! Musical Season!

Stampin’ Up! Musical Season!

Hey there! The stamp set I used for today's project was one I was instantly drawn to when I first saw the 2017 Holiday Catalog, but it's taken me until now to create with it. Sometimes it's just hard to get to do all of the stamping you want to do, but I'm glad I finally inked it up! I combined this bundle with the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper to carry the musical theme. I kept my colors classic: Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and a hint of Garden Green.

Stampin_up_musical_season_carolpaynestamps1

I stamped the greeting with black ink on Whisper White, then cut with a Stitched Shapes oval Framelit. I added the mistletoe sprays after cutting with Garden Green ink to get my spacing right. Mistletoe berries are sort of translucent white, so I added just a hint of glow to them with my Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. I cut a scalloped oval to mat behind the image from Cherry Cobbler using a Layering Ovals Framelit.

Stampin_up_musical_season_carolpaynestamps2

Of course I had to add the Silver Foil french horn, cut with a Musical Instruments Framelits die. I cut a thin (1/8" wide) sliver of Garden Green card stock; distressing and separating the layers so I could tie it around the end for just a hint more of color.

Stampin_up_musical_season_carolpaynestamps3

Inside I stamped the Sheet Music background with stamped-off Smoky Slate before adding the Musical Season sentiment with Basic Black ink.

I added the "little drummer boy", cut from Basic Black card stock using another Musical Instruments framelit.

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop December Edition, Non-traditional Christmas!

Stampin’ Up! Stampers Dozen Blog Hop December Edition, Non-traditional Christmas!

Hey there! Once again, it's time for the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop! yay!

1723402_10152213035905070_85588169_n

Our December theme is "Non-traditional Christmas", which means our projects cannot use any shade of red or green. No Old Olive, Garden Green, Always Artichoke, Lemon Lime Twist, Pear Pizzazz, or Wild Wasabi! No Real Red, Cherry Cobbler, or Berry Burst! Quite the challenge, but I used a new stamp set from the upcoming Occasions Catalog, Petal Palette, with the Hearts Come Home set from the Holiday Catalog to create my card, and I think I did good!

Stampin_up_petal_palette_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

I chose Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Basic Black,  and Smoky Slate for my color palette, which I think has a wintry feel.  I stamped everything, including the Hearts Come Home greeting before embossing the vanilla layer with the sneak peek Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I kept the bottom right corner from being bare by adding a single Hearts & Stars Embellishment with teeny-tiny dots of Liquid Glue.

Stampin_up_petal_palette_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

To get the two-tone color on the birdie (is it a chickadee?) I inked the image first with Smoky Slate ink, then used a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to add the black highlights. The leafy branch is stamped-off Soft Suede. I gently pressed the edges of the vanilla layer into the Soft Suede ink pad to get the darker "faux layer" look.

Stampin_up_petal_palette_christmas_carolpaynestamps5

The inside sentiment is also from Hearts Come Home, stamped with Soft Suede.

Stampin’ Up! Night In Bethlehem Gift Tag!

Stampin’ Up! Night In Bethlehem Gift Tag!

Hey there! I attended a Christmas Party last week for the Ladies' Friendship Circle group at my church. Gifts are exchanged, and I created a tag I'm pretty happy with to match the gift wrapping paper I purchased at Hobby Lobby:

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps2

I actually purchased the paper with the Night in Bethlehem stamp set in mind. Some of the images on the paper were almost exactly like the ones in the stamp set and matching framelits. Yay Stampin' Up! for being so on-trend!

Here's the tag before I added it to the package. I cut Gold Foil with one of the dies to adhere to the Basic Black base I had cut with a Lots of Labels framelit. I embossed the greeting from Night in Bethlehem with gold powder, then added the Basic Black-stamped Holy Family cut with another coordinating framelit. After tying a bit of Gold 1/8" Ribbon on one end I adhered to the gift with a couple of Stampin' Dimensionals.

Stampin_up_night_in_bethlehem_carolpaynestamps1

The Night in Bethlehem and Bethlehem Edgelits dies WILL be carrying over after January 2nd, but they WILL NOT be bundled together anymore to save you 10%, so if you are wanting them and want to save a bit on your purchase, be sure to order them in my online store before the Holiday Catalog expires on January 2nd!

Stampin’ Up! Winter Wonder Stepped Up!

Stampin’ Up! Winter Wonder Stepped Up!

Hey there! Christmas. I love the season and the reason, but this year seems to be particularly hard to keep up with everything.

For my post today I'm sharing the final card I created for the December Creative Crew Challenge "Winter Wonderland". First I created the simple card I shared with you HERE, and then I created another, similar but stepped-up with more layers and embellishments:

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps1

I stamped the Pool Party layer with the snowflake image from Tags & Trimmings with Soft Sky ink before embossing with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Folder.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps2

I added a layer of Whisper White between the Dapper Denim card base and Pool Party embossed layer for a bit of pop!

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps3

I sponged the raised embossed lines lightly with Pool Party and added a single pearl to the center.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

I used a Star of Light sentiment, cut with a Stitched Shapes framelit and backed with a scalloped Dapper Denim oval cut with a Layering Ovals framelit.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps5

There's an Occasions Catalog Sneak Peek on this card. See that Whisper White 1/4" Organza Ribbon? You will be able to order a roll of it for yourself on January 3rd!

Inside I used another Star of Light sentiment and stamped more Tags & Trimmings snowflakes. Extra sponging on the edges with Soft Sky ink gives this card a soft look.

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas CAS for the Creative Crew!

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas CAS for the Creative Crew!

Hey there! Today is our annual "Payne girls" Christmas shopping trip! I'm heading out to meet everyone (even though these days I'm the only one with the Payne last name!) in just a few,  but before I go I wanted to share with you the first of the last two projects I created for the Creative Crew over on Splitcoaststampers!

For this challenge we were to create a card with the "Winter Wonderland" theme, starting with a CAS (Clean and Simple) card, and then a stepped-up version. Today I'm sharing my CAS card with the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Season Like Christmas stamp set:

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_cas_carolpaynestamps1

I embossed a layer of Soft Sky multiple times with the Winter Wonder Folder, then gently sponged with Soft Sky ink.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_cas_carolpaynestamps2

A single pearl adorns the center.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_cas_carolpaynestamps3

I heat embossed the greeting from Season Like Christmas with white powder and my heat tool

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_cas_carolpaynestamps4

I wanted this project to have a bit of a "shabby chic" look, so I roughed up the edges of the layer with the side of my Paper Snips, then sponged more Soft Sky ink.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_cas_carolpaynestamps5

Inside I stamped a sentiment from Season Like Christmas with Dapper Denim ink, then stamped snowflakes from Tags & Trimmings with Soft Sky ink.

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Bridge Fold!

Stampin’ Up! Season Like Christmas Bridge Fold!

Hey there! I haven't been posting here as often as I would like, but you know how crazy December can be! I'm still stamping, and not without things to share, so bear with me, I will be posting as often as I can!

Today I have another project from my December group of creations for the December Creative Crew at Splitcoaststampers. This card is a bit of a "step-up" from my last post with based on the inspiration photo. I used the bridge-fold technique  with Versamark Resist:

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps1

The Bridge Fold is fun because it easily stands up for display, but also folds flat for mailing.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps2

Versamark Resist is very similar to the Crayon Resist technique I used on my last Creative Crew project. I stamped the more open tree image from Season Like Christmas with Dapper Denim ink first, then stamped with the more solid image over the first with Versamark ink. I let the Versamark dry for a bit (or you can speed up the drying time with a Heat Tool.) I added 3/4" punched circle for the moon, then used a sponge brayer to add Smoky Slate ink over the entire piece for a great moonlight look. I stamped snowflakes from Tags & Trimmings with Smoky Slate ink before I removed the mask. Smoky Slate stamped shows up darker than Smoky Slate applied with a Sponge Brayer! I stamped a sentiment from Star of Light with Basic Black ink.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_bridge_carolpaynestamps3

I used Glossy card stock again for the snowy scene and the greeting strip on the bridge. As you can see with the "Merry Christmas" from Star of Light  stamped with Basic Black ink, you have to be careful stamping on Glossy card stock. It's easy to slide your stamp on the slick glossy surface! I was ok with the way this one turned out because it looks like an intentional "ghost image" behind it.

Stampin_up_season_like_christmas_carolpaynestamps4

I used a die from the Starlight Thinlets to cut a bit of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for a star/snowflake embellishment on each side of the greeting. I added a single rhinestone for some sparkle.
