Stampin’Up! Gently Falling Sponged Watercolor!

Another project from yesterday's Punch/Technique Class, a CASE of a Founder's Circle swap from Tami White I call "Sponged Watercolor"!

The technique is incredibly simple:

  • Stamp image first in lightest color of ink (maple leaf was first stamped on a More Mustard stamp pad
  • Ink up a Sponge Dauber in darker color of ink (Cajun Craze ink was sponged around the edges of maple leaf, re-inking the dauber and continuing to add color until I had an intense application all around the edges of the leaf)
  • Spritz inked surface with plain water. (I held my stamp away from me as I sprayed at but not directly onto the stamp. This way the ink was wet, but not pushed around on the stamp by the force of the spray)
  • Stamp onto cardstock, holding the stamp on the paper (on this sample Naturals White) for a few extra seconds longer than normal to allow the ink to saturate the paper a bit more)
  • Allow the ink & paper to dry. The paper may bump up a bit at first from the extra moisture, but will flatten as it dries.

Here's sample showing the same leafed inked the same way but the leaf on the left has been spritzed with water and the one on the right has not:

Amazing the difference a little bit of added moisture can make, eh?

Gently Falling Samples!

Happy Sunday, Stampers! Thought I would speed up the process of showing you the swaps this month to give you a great Holiday Mini Kick-off by showing you all the Gently Falling Holiday Mini Catalog samples that came in my monthly swap the other day:

These are all made with the all 2-step stamping set, Gently Falling, on page 16-17 of the Holiday Mini. I received this set for free as part of a bundle that Managers and Senior Managers receive automatically during the pre-order period. This "telescoping" card was made by Brenda Hukriede:

Next, this sample by Jan Rodrian also uses Hand-Penned Holidays from page 15 of the same Holiday Mini!

I've saved the best of the fall cards for last! Megan Wheeler used My Digital Studio to combine the current stamp set, With Gratitude, with the Spice Cake Designer Paper. You probably can't tell in the photo, which doesn't do it justice, but she has used the new Pewter Embossing Powder from page 31 of the Holiday Mini with "Hand-Penned Holidays" and a Vintage Brad to make this a "hybrid" card! "Hybrid", in case you don't already know, is when you take the My Digital Studio-printed products and combine them with cardstock and accessories to merge the best of both worlds!
