Hey there! I found directions to use plastic packaging from pre-cut grocery store fruit to shrink stamped images, so I shrank the Cookie Cutter Halloween scarecrow!
I attached him to a Clear Tiny Treat Box from the annual catalog. They are 2"x2"x2", absolutely adorable, and $7.50 for a pack of 16.
I added a 2" x 8" strip of Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper, scored at 2", 4" and 6".
I am hoping to do a quick video for you soon, but in a nutshell, here's how:
- Rub the plastic with a sanding block (you can purchase one where manicure supplies are sold), Stamp the scarecrow from Cookie Cutter Halloween with Jet Black StazOn ink.
- Cut out with Paper Snips.
- Punch a hole with the 1/8" Hand-held Circle Punch
- Color with green and orange Sharpie markers.
- Hold the scarecrow on a cookie sheet with tweezers.
- Heat with the Heat Tool. As the plastic shrink it may try to curl. Keep directing the heat so it will flatten.
I wrapped Kraft Rope Trim from the Holiday Catalog around the box, tied in a knot, then added the scarecrow and a Very Vanilla greeting from Acorny Thank You punched with the Acorn Builder Punch. I tied them on with Crushed Curry Baker's Twine.

I was trying to work with the shrink plastic, but not having success so thought I would just ask you a question. I sanded the shrink plastic like you suggested and stamped my image with Black StazOn. I let it set overnight before coloring in but the black still smeared. I must be doing something wrong. Do you have any tips?
Hi Christi!
Wow. StazOn that smears. I’ve never had that happen. I’m thinking you could try very gently heat setting it before coloring, just barely heating, not enough to start the plastic shrinking. Or you might pat it with your Embossing Buddy to absorb excess moisture before coloring. What medium are you coloring with? That might make a difference too. Are you coloring with Stampin’ Write markers, watercolor pencils, or alcohol markers? If you are using alcohol markers then you need to try stamping on the shrink plastic with Memento ink instead of StazOn. StazOn is a solvent ink, so is not compatible with alcohol markers. Let me know if any of these suggestions help. Thanks for asking!
