Festive & Fun from the Holiday Mini!

Festive & Fun from the Holiday Mini!

I know I've been absent from here for a LOOOONG time, but I'm back and I hope to share a few of the things I've been up to with you over the next few days!

I was able to attend a Stampin' Up! Regional event in Louisville, KY at the end of October. A BUNCH of my downline were able to attend as well: Jan, Rose, Joyce, Angela, Melinda, Linda, Babs, Cassey, Janice, and Sandy! These girls are so much fun, and I am blessed to call them my friends!

A dear friend of mine, Megan Wheeler, was a Demonstrator Presenter at this meeting. She gave an outstanding presentation, and I have CASED her demo'ed project here for you: a darling lunch sack giftbag and matching card!

We wheeled the Real Red cardstock with the Jolly Jingles Jumbo wheel and Basic Black ink cartridge, wheeling on the diagonal to give it that cool "retro" look! The handle is punched with the Extra Large Oval Punch, and the ribbon is Basic Black Dotted Scalloped Ribbon.

On the front we attached a cut-down Clear Translucent Envelope with Sticky Strip to slip the card down into.

The card itself is stamped with the "holly jolly" greeting from "Festive & Fun" from the Holiday Mini catalog in Staz-on Black, then colored with Real Red and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers. I prefer to stamp any image that I am going to color with Markers, Blender Pen, or Aquapainter with the Staz-on ink because Staz-on will not smear or run when moisture come in contact with it.

This is a fun little set we will be making at the rest of my workshops through December. If you would like to have a quick little Christmas Card Party before Christmas gets here, I have these dates still open:

Thursday, December 1st

Thursday, December 15th

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them for me!

Tomorrow, I will show you another card made with the same set, this time for Valentine's Day!

Until tomorrow, have a "Stampingrox!" Day!

Me on Santa’s Knee!

Me on Santa’s Knee!

While we were in Ketchikan, Alaska, besides ziplining we shopped! Our FAV store was the "Christmas in Alaska" store, I think we went there 3 or 4 times in the one short day we were there! Nothing puts me in the Christmas mood more than crisp cool air, pine trees, and snow-capped mountains in the background! I was ready to come home and put up my tree after Ketchikan! Alas, I came home to 80 + degree, humid weather, so I guess I'll have to wait awhile!

I loved choosing some new ornaments for myself and my family, but my favorite part by far was that SANTA was in the house! A real, honest-to-goodness, authentic, SANTA! Mark & I raised our brood to know that the real meaning of Christmas is the Birth of Jesus, but somehow they always believed in Santa just a little bit for a little while, so when Kimberly & I saw Santa we knew we had to sit on his knee! So here I am, for the first time since I was probably four years old:

Me on Santa's knee
Isn't he just the cutest? And dressed exactly how Santa should look in the off-season! lol!

Here's another swap from the Hospitality Room, made with gorgeous bright colors and the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch!

This card perfectly showcases the many options avaialable with just this one punch! I love it! Gotta go, lots of stamping to do! Have a "Stampingrox"day!

Winners of Patterned Pines Stamp Sets!

Winners of Patterned Pines Stamp Sets!

Congratulations to Betty Everett and Tina Mondino, the winners of the "Patterned Pines" stamp sets I offered for call-in or email-in orders during the Online Extravaganza during the week of Thanksgiving! There were NO ONLINE orders during that time, so the "Snow Buddies" stamp sets remain unclaimed! Don't worry, though, there's another great sale coming along beginning this Friday, December 11th, and I will have some goodies to share with you then!

I also must apologize for the lack of blog posting since before Thanksgiving. I came down with that nasty ear, nose, & throat thing so many are battling right now, and ended up at the drs on the Sunday after Thanksgiving with a double ear infection AND a sinus infection! They loaded me up with antibiotics, prescription cough syrup, and steriods, so for the next week I was not really myself! I'm down to finishing off the antibiotics now, so feeling much better, but now trying to catch up AND get ready for Christmas!

Tags, Tags, & More Tags!

Tags, Tags, & More Tags!

I have been crazy over making these tags the past few days! I dream tags, make tags, I'm CRAZY about them! Actually, making my own Christmas tags was what compelled me to become a SU! demo in the first place. I have always loved to make my own tags with last year's Christmas Cards, coordinating wrapping paper, etc. so it was a perfect fit when SU! came along!
I have had an overwhelmingly favorable response to these tags, so I am offering both finished product and kits!

Contact me at: carol@carolpaynestamps.com for payment options.

I will be taking orders for these tags and tag kits through Monday, Nov. 23rd, so I can get all the kits shipped out by Monday, Nov. 30th, so contact me today!

First off, the "Christmas Punch" tag from a few days ago:Tags 004 christma punch

A “Christmas Punch” Tag!

A “Christmas Punch” Tag!

My hostess Sandy also requested a Christmas project for her camp, so I decided I wanted to have them make a Christmas tag. I looked and looked on all my favorite inspirational spots but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I even CASED some tags from other sources, but it wasn't until I designed this one myself that I was excited! Lookie:

GEDC6744

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

I started with a 4" X 2/3/8" Chocolate Chip base that I punched the edge with the Scalloped Border punch, then added a 2 3/8" X 1 1/2" strip of Merry Moments DSP layered on a Real Red 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" strip. I stamped the Santa postage stamp from "Christmas Punch" a Level 2 Hostess set in Real Red, punched it out with the 1 1/4" Square punch, then layered it on a Real Red Scalloped Square. I stamped the "Simple Snowflake" single stamp in Real Red on Very Vanilla, then punched it out with the Jumbo Snowflake punch. I attached the Snowflake to the tag with a Real Red Bold Brights brad. The "to: from: " from the"Christmas Punch" set is stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla, then punched out with the Modern Label punch (LOVE that punch!) I finished off the tag with a Jumbo eyelet set with my Crop-a-dile, then threaded Real Red gingham ribbon through it!

I have loved making tags for years, even before my Stampin' Up! days I would cut up old Christmas cards with pinking shears to make my own tags. It was actually the allure of being able to stamp my own Christmas tags to match my paper that got me into stamping in the first place, so it feels like coming home to design and play around with this tag!

Leave me a comment about this tag and I will put your name in a drawing for a "Christmas Punch" stamp set, okay?

Ta for now!

Carol
