A Wish for Peace Tri-shutter Card, Punchy Snowman/Birdie, and O’Christmas Tree Pop-up!

A Wish for Peace Tri-shutter Card, Punchy Snowman/Birdie, and O’Christmas Tree Pop-up!

I often have Hostesses choose the projects for their parties from my display and sample boards. Sometimes they want to do the exact project I have on display, but sometimes they just want to learn how to make the project type and I get to choose the stamps and create a new project. Then I have another project for my display and they get to have more ideas to choose from! This was the way it went with this Tri-shutter card, Donna wanted to learn how to make the tri-shutter, but the one I had for display used the Merry Moments DSP (it was a swap I received from the monthly mail-in swap I am in). I changed it up using Bella Bleu DSP (love that paper, it is SO MUCH MORE GORGEOUS than it looks in the catalog!) and the "A Wish for Peace" stamp set! Lookie:

I stamped the tree/church stamp on a Very Vanilla top note with Brocade Blue ink, then overstamped the whole image with Sahara Sand ink on the Sanded Background. I then sponged all around the edges of everything with Soft Suede ink. "A Christmas Wish. . ." is stamped in Soft Suede and comes from the "Home for Christmas" stamp set. All edges of all the pieces are sponged with Soft Suede ink, and if they are overstamped with the Sanded Background, Sahara Sand was used.

Here's the other angles of this card:

I also darkened the Kraft taffeta ribbon by sponging it with Soft Suede, and used the Texturz Impressions Plate, "Perfect Details" on the Bordering Blue panels on the outside edges. I also added sparkle to the trees with my 2-way glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter.

Here's another card we made at this event that I CASED from Heather's blog:

Elegant ornaments class 006

This adorable card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square but still fits easily into our medium envelopes! It uses a bunch of SU! punches: 1 3/4" Circle, 1 3/8" Circle, 1/2" Circle, Wide Oval, Large Oval, Small Oval, Large Star (birdie beak), Scalloped Circle (snowman nose). Everything is sponged in either Ruby Red, More Mustard, or Night of Navy ink, and the Playground button is tied with a "cardstock thread" and attached with a mini gluedot!

We made a card with the "Delightful Decorations" and Medallion stamp sets, but I am at my daughter's house right now and do not have access to the picture, but I do have the picture of our fourth project (this was  a stamp camp!):

Elegant ornaments class 005

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

This was my first group this year to be brave enough to try this tree, and by the time they were all finished it was a "love-it-or-hate-it" relationship! Some loved it  and figured it out right away, some loved it but stated they hope they never have to put one together again, and some said their brains were just too tired to try to manage that late in the evening!

All in all it was a fun stamping event!

I'll be back tomorrow with the projects for my next Stamp-a-Stack: "Elegant Ornaments" cards!

Matchbox “Chest of Tags” Tree Trimming Class this weekend!

Matchbox “Chest of Tags” Tree Trimming Class this weekend!

You haven't heard from me for a couple of days, partly because we were "partying" on Sunday for my oldest daughter's birthday (love you, J!), and yesterday I was prepping for a hostess' party on Thursday, as well as getting ready for my "Tree Trimming" class this weekend! It's scheduled for Friday, Oct. 2nd, 1 pm & 6:30 pm, and Saturday, Oct. 3rd, 10 a.m & 2 p.m.! We will be making FIVE 3-D projects to get ready for the holidays for the $20 fee, or the class is FREE with a $50 order. Registration RSVP is going on right now, so contact me!

Here's the first project we will be making, a "chest of drawers of tags" using the Big Shot Matchbox Die and "Merry Moments" DSP:

Tree trimming class tags chest of drawers

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

Inside the chest we will be storing these tags!

Tree trimming class tags

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

And here's one of the projects for my Thursday hostess, Becky!

Upsy daisy pumpkin

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009
She asked for a fall card using a set she just purchased, "Upsy Daisy", and something with a pumpkin, so I merged the two with this result! The Upsy Daisy flowers are stamped on glossy cardstock that I brayered first with Crushed Curry, then Dusty Durango. The pumpkin is made with the Wide Oval punch, Word Window, and the Scribbles & Swirls Sizzlet Die with the Big Shot. I LOVE that Big Shot! I'm pretty happy with the result, (although not thrilled with my photography!)

Gotta run, Jessica is picking me up in a few to go shopping to help her spend her birthday money! Running my own business is so much fun, as long as I'm caught up, I can give myself "time-off" whenever I want or need to!

Christmas Treat Box/Hostess Gift/Birthday Special!

Christmas Treat Box/Hostess Gift/Birthday Special!

Happy Sunday morning to all of you! I decided I wanted to )show you the Hostess Gift I am giving to ALL of my Hostesses this Fall ( and I gave to my Harrisburg hostess yesterday):
  Treat box murrie
©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009
It's one of our new Treat Boxes, shown on pages 28 & 29 of the new catalog! I embellished it with the Real Red 3/4" Polka Dot ribbon, and a tag I created using the new "Stampin' Up! Two Tags Bigz Die, the Snowflake punch, Bold Brights Brads, and the cute new stamp set I got in my convention bag, "Sweet Season"! Nestled inside the box, displayed here, was a Kit Kat bar wrapped with some of the "Merry Moments" DSP & "Sleigh Bells" cotton ribbon from the upcoming Holiday Mini! I also included three "incentive stamps": "Created for you", "Best Wishes", and "Friends"! Incentive stamps are available to exclusively to demonstrators to let us economically purchase to give as gifts to our hostesses and stampers. I love being a Stampin' Up! Demo!

These treat boxes are so cool! In addition to being a roomy 4 5/8" wide, 2 3/8" deep, and 6 1/8" high, they are also coated with a food-safe finish to protect any holiday treat you might choose to give! And they are also VERY economical; 5 boxes per package for only $3.95! Because they are a neutral Chocolote Chip/Close to Cocoa color, they can be coordinated for birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, just about any gift-giving excuse you might have! Now, anyone who knows me knows I'm not big on cooking , (I would rather stamp!), but these adorable boxes make me WANT to bake and give the results as gifts!(and with the new kitchen I am getting this fall, WHO KNOWS???!!! I might just turn into a Martha Stewart (minus the jail time, of course! ha!)

I had a request for a project using this set, and this is what I came up with! I love the "colorbook" style of this set, so of course we had to color it! We stamped the image with Black Staz-on so we could color with Stampin' Write markers without the black bleeding. I use Black Staz-on almost all the time when I know I'm going to be markering, blender penning, or using the Aqua-Painter. It just makes the image come out so crisp and no worries about colors bleeding! The "So Swirly" jumbo wheel makes a great background, I find myself using it so much this year!

I know I've taken a big break from blogging, but I hope to get back in the swing of things this week. Being my own "boss" is great, but also hard! Self-discipline is something I'm working on, so pray for me! Also, being a "work-at-home-mom" also opens the door for so many opportunities to do so many other things besides keep to a disciplined work schedule. I love being at home and getting to work on clearing my clutter from the past few years that I've been working all day and Stampin' Up! partying several nights each week, but it's also easy to get lost in it!

This week I plan to show you several projects for my "Jingle All the Way" Stamp Camp I have scheduled this next weekend, but today I need to show you the cute projects we did at my first "Big Shot Class" this month!
GEDC3582
This cute little "genie bag" used the Top Note Bigz Die for both his face and hat! We also used the Button Sizzlet die for his eyes, the Large Star punch for his nose, and the 1/4" circle punch for his mouth! The "Birds & Blooms Sizzlets made the perfect accent for his hat!

Here's the version my friend, Donna, did!
GEDC3583
Isn't he cute and surprised?

We also did this darling card with the Snowflake dies and Mr. Twigster!
GEDC3576
I just love him, and the Snowflakes are gorgeous!

Here are a few more samples of projects we've done this month!
GEDC3577White embossing "Snow Swirled", then sponge daubing Baja Breeze ink!
GEDC3578
This card uses "Party Hearty" in an "out-of-the-box" way! I took the party hats stamp and made them into Christmas trees! The DSP  used is from the Level 1 Hostess Patterns DSP pack. I used the Real Red and Always Artichoke paper. Great to have on hand!

Nc web
This was one of the cards I demoed at the Norris City Quilt Guild this month. They used a tree template they had on hand to cut their fabric, then fused it on their card with an iron. I walked them through the steps to stamp the greeting, punch, mount with dimensionals, then add the ribbon and inner verse!

Nc web 6
This little baby uses the "Iris Folding" technique along with the little snowman from "Merry & Bright"! Remember the comic strip "Mutt & Jeff"? (I know, I'm dating myself!) This little guy is Mutt to Mr. Twigster's Jeff! ha!

GEDC3617
Last but not least, here's a beautiful card I cased from my Founder's Circle swap by Kristina Koch from Canada! The large snowflake has been inked by smooshing Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue Craft Stampin' Spots all over it, then sprinkled with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and embossed! We also wheeled cardstock vellum with the "Snow" jumbo wheel in ballet blue ink, then topped the snowflake off with an Ice Circle Rhinestone brad! Gotta love those!

I know this post has been long, but I felt like I owed you all some "eye candy" for taking such a long break from blogging! I promise I will try to not let it happen again!

As I said before, my "Jingle All the Way" Stamp Camp will be this Friday, Nov. 21st, 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 22nd  10 a.m. or 2 p.m. Fee is $10 for four great gift-giving projects.

Call me at 618-237-6281 or email me at carol@carolpaynestamps.com to RSVP!
