Hey there! I combined retiring stamps Crackle Paint and Country Roads with a Faux Cracked Glass technique for a masculine, shabby chic card!
I used the "faux cracked glass" technique for the star embellishment.
The original Cracked Glass technique consists of covering a stamped image with multiple layers of clear embossing, then freezing for a few minutes to be able to "crack" the embossed layers when removed from the freezer. I wanted to get the cracked glass look without all of the time it takes to emboss multiple layers. I stamped the star image with Soft Suede ink on Very Vanilla, then stamped over it with the retiring Crackle Paint stamp using stamped-off Gray Granite ink. I only added ONE layer of clear embossing, punched with a 1 1/2" Circle Punch and sponged the edges with Gray Granite ink. MUCH easier and less time-consuming!
The only drawback to this "faux cracked glass" technique is the Crackle Paint stamp is retiring with the end of the current Annual Catalog (June 2nd). If you want to try this faux technique for yourself you need to order Crackle Paint SOON. All retiring stamps are only guaranteed to be available through May 22nd. I added a retiring antique gold Designer Element (they are discounted 30%! right now!) to the center to complete the look.
